Youjeen came out of retirement when RM asked her to be on track, she also usually don't agree to collabs. She was the front woman of the rock band called Cherry Filter.

17:00 According to the interview she sat for in the making-of film that accompanied the album, Youjeen initially questioned why RM wanted her for this song. She feared that the power in her voice + style of Rock singing would overwhelm the sort of measured intensity you described in RM's rapping & the overall mood of the song.
Thankfully, he convinced her that the contrast in types of intensity was exactly the feel he wanted for, "Wildflower." The original Korean title of the song translates to, "Flowerwork," in English (which Youjeen sings in the chorus); a portmanteau that RM coined of wildflower + firework. Traditional Korean/Chinese fireworks (nakhwa nori), are tied onto long strings which are then strung across water, such as a river, in order to contain & extinguish any resulting fires. Because they are hung in this way, the flames fall down, rather than shooting upward as with the pyrotechnics that we're accustomed to today.

If you picture those fireworks, but made of [flaming?] wildflowers, you get a sense of what he was visualizing. The song basically expresses his desire to live his life more like a tranquil wildflower rooted in an open field, than a brief fire suspended in the air that burns spectacularly for a brief moment then is snuffed in an instant.

RM has an 11 track album dropping May 24th called "Right Place, Wrong Person"! It's his 2nd solo album. The first single will be out May 10th.
RM chooses his singing partners very carefully. They often have a higher register than he does..they compliment his rap and singing.
He listens to a lot of music and the people he picks are from all over the place. His album "Indigo" ( which he pronounes Indeego) is very good. This song is one of the tracks.

Rolling Hall is a Fantastic, Dream-Fulfilled for Namjoon, since when he was young it was where the best Artists appeared.
His obvious delight in featuring the Guests, many of whom were relatively unknown (especially in the International Fandom) made it even more special.
For some reason, I find Youjeen's mic tapping very comforting. :) and I love how you were explaining RM in the beginning because I actually feel like it explains the intention of the song even though you didn't have the lyrics. Very cool.

I'm always brought to tears listening to this song. Just goes to show how amazing RM is when it comes to music. RM also has a new album coming out soon, called Right Place, Wrong Person. It will be released on May 24th. Not sure if he filmed any live performances for any of the songs though. We'll just have to wait and see.

Imagine Youjeen as the Korean Gwen Stefani - from back in the 90s. In an interview she said she was very nervous about this whole project, especially singing live.

Love this song, he has such a poet’s soul. How he manages to inject such imagery to his lyrics is amazing. Making the song that would typically say firework and using flower work, and make it so meaningful just gets to me. With RM, you really have to sit and think about what he is saying in his lyrics, and he delivers it beautifully. Thank you for your reaction.
Youjeen was super super nervous has she didn't want to let RM down but the mic flicking is something she has always done. Even tho she is the older more experienced artist because of BTS's fame she was a little unsure of doing the song with him but she absolutely knocked it out of the park!!!
Youjeen is the Flower Work exploding up in the sky. RM is the observer looking up and marvelling at the spectacle while reflecting on his life. Light a flower, flowerwork.
I know you'd typically lean towards listening to their performances live, but them having provided so many instances in which it was clear they sound almost like their recorded versions, here I would definitely have gone for the Music Video of this song.
The instrumentation can be heard so much clearer, and Youjeen's voice explodes just the right way -not too loud, not too soft-...
And the lyrics, you would've been able to read the lyrics. The honesty in them and the reason for the song's title.

Hi Sam! Another fabulous reaction by one of my favorite vocal coaches to watch. You mentioned that you think RM's voice is deep, and you're right; he's talked before about how he consciously raises his pitch in public, otherwise he won't be understood. There are some chatty lives with other members of BTS where he doesn't do this, and it is incredibly noticeable how bass his voice actually is. So he's definitely bringing that pitch up into performance range. Also - and something I noticed for the first time watching this - is he actually plays with the pitch on how he delivers some lines in the song, possibly because he's not as strongly backtracked as Youjeen is for this performance.
Youjeen's mic tapping thing is, from what I understand, an old habit of hers; she tried to stop but just never could, so it's something of a signature of how she performs now.
Okay so j-hope, Hoseok, my dear Hobi - a lot of people are gonna say Lollapalooza, but that's an hour set and the sound quality is very much "live show" for it. However, he did rerelease three tracks with slightly cleaned up audio from that show - = (equal sign), STOP and Future. The run of = to STOP at Lolla - video with subs here th-cam.com/video/8WHwJda3I6I/w-d-xo.html - is less than five minutes long, it's totally worth doing the two songs.
Other options:

People have brought up = at IU's Palette, which is another good performance; it's also more of a duet with IU, though? Jhope did Lollapalooza in 2022 , i was there and it was amazing and I still get all the excitement when I see reactions.

The meaning of the title in korean is a mix of fireworks and wild flowers so at the end she is the fireworks, explosive and bright, and he is the wild flower, soft

Youjeen is a well respected rocker in S Korea and fronts the band Cherry Filter. She does not do collabs but respected RMs musical journey and despite being nervous did the collab.

Namjoon’s speaking voice is naturally very low and resonant but he does tend to pitch his voice up in interviews for clarity of enunciation, especially noticeable while speaking English.

After obsessing my way through Golden and Layover, JHope’s album has had the most staying power on my Spotify playlist. (V and JK are still my fave videos) This song is magic, but it’s SO understated, I think Sam has to listen to at least two songs to give a proper reaction!!!
I feel that On the Street doesn't really showcase Hobi's vocals, though. I'd prefer Blue Side or Lock/Unlock for his vocals

Youjeen's voice reminds a lot of Dolores O'Riordan from The Cranberries, the way she moves between notes.
Well, no subs for RM (even before or after) rules me out. Bummer. But if you do the MV with subs I'll check it out. This performance was awesome and I am sure you broke down his and Yugeen's vocals well. Not your fault I guess, I just don't enjoy a reaction without someone checking out the lyrics he put the effort into writing. This one in particular, but all BTS songs and solo work. (V and JK only exceptions since they didn't write their new solo album songs, but they have written beautiful songs in the past.)
Actually even the speaking voice of RM is not his actual voice.. especially when he’s speaking in a mic. I’ve heard him say he deliberately raises his voice a bit otherwise the mic can’t pick it up well.

This song was definitely not a love song. RM may have been using his sexy voice, but it was not meant to be sexy. This song is a very vulnerable song about his journey. That's why subtitles are needed for you to understand the meaning. And no, he didn't say anything about killing someone.
I've linked you the performance with English subtitles, and a better video/sound quality than what I was hearing from your video. I don't know if it was your video, or the original video that was not as clear. whenever you are looking for a BTS video that has English subtitles, there is more than likely a version with subtitles that a BTS ARMY has added. So this one was added by Enjoy BTS More, and she does a really great job with her subtitles, and even cleans up videos for quality if needed. All you have to do is enter *"artist - song title - Eng. sub"* in TH-cam search, and you should get the video you want.
So I hope you at least watch this one on your own time to get the meaning of the song. RM poured his heart into it and his feelings and experience are in it. Or, you could watch the music video. But I think it's important to understand what he was saying. It's about his journey.
