He had to do it this way because the vast majority of viewers cannot spin kick backsplash tile, and the whole point is to show how we can do it ourselves. Wouldn't be fair if he just spin kicked it.
I love that he says it's laziness as he painstakingly cutting all those tiles 😅 that woulda had me putting those in the garage and staring at a half done project for 8 months 😂
Watching you wield that hacksaw w/out gloves or a protection cardboard or towel on the cooktop made me go take a Thorazine tab. Love the design - I'll be able to see it better tomorrow when my medication wears off...
They call him lose a thumb Jonny back in Delaware. Hey is that lose a thumb Jonny? I don't know. Throw him tool and see if he loses a thumb. I bet he does .. Hi from Australia 🤘🇦🇺
I like that you left the audio in of the parts where you interacted with Jason, I thought it was really endearing. I hope all the bleeding hearts who don’t understand your sarcasm and banter see this vid and realize they don’t need to keep commenting about how “mean” you are to your kids-that’s just how they roll, son!! Most of us would *love* to have a dad like Tito Buttdoctor!
RIP old backsplash. You were scarred and ugly but we will always be reminded of the little spatters of bacon fat you protected the wall from. You were a quiet, steadfast leader in your hour of fame using skill and nerve to remain firmly in place until the very end, paving the way for the new world in backsplash tiling 💙
The tile you chose is super cool, even if it was a pain to cut. Also, "as much of an artisitic choice as it was laziness" is how I prefer to work lmao.
Baby filth wants to tell Fill the crack Johnny the plugs don't match the covers. Baby filth fears the infamous spin kick so he plays it smart. I'm getting blocked for sure. I'm sorry Mack I got carried away. Mack said hit that. What does that mean mommy?💙
@@gregpendrey6711Haha! It’s funny how things hit different with different people. The outlets not matching the covers is the first thing I noticed. Beautiful tile, and my eye goes straight to the mismatched outlets and covers. Is that a form of OCD or have I had too many spin kicks to the head?
There’s something so wholesome about a father teaching in such a hands on way..to his son…who he calls Filth. 😆😆 I did this same sort of tile job in my bathroom, it’s been four years, and no issues at all. Was easy and saved me tons too👍 Friggin love you guys, hugs to Emily, hope she’s doing well, pet the Bean!
i added peel and stick metal penny tile for a back splash and omg it looks amazing and so much bigger, looks great..what a difference a backsplash makes . i also did epoxy on the counter to look like marble. love it
Beautiful!! ✨Jason has a great dad teaching him new dad skills. 👍Plus, there's nothing more gratifying than hearing the word "nippers" and the sounds of a rapid-fire rubber mallet. My day is complete. 😊
❤Great job, guys! You made me realize that part of what makes the kitchen in the relative's house I need to fix up & rent or sell, look dated, is the no backsplash. If I'm going to rent it out, I don't want to invest in tile that will be dated by the time I sell. I was thinking a big piece of plexiglass, but then realized your tiles went on a board that was screwed to the wall. I could always leave the screws visible but unnoticible, and remove the board to replace it and the tile if we go to sell it later. It's such a small space, I could probably find enough on the clearance rack or at a construction salvage/reuse place.
Wow, I can SO relate to your ideas as I am a novice at home renovations, Mack! I used all purpose filler to stick tiles back on and it works! Love the stuff. I am going to mortar some limestone and concrete path cracks outside today and I have never done it before, so you inspired me to get her done! I hope it works! Thanks, Mack
I love that you and Jason work so well together and you teach him so much! That doesn’t happen in every father and son relationship. And you get each other’s humor. 🎉
OMG! The hacksaw sounds on the tile! I'm autistic too, and I have a sensory disorder that goes along with it, I just had to mute this video! 😵💫 The kitchen is going to look good though. Love to watch your videos.
@@mbe102 Which type of bird? For those somewhere else on that spectrum, it might be the call of the "Perplexing Scrubwren" or "The Splendid Fairywren."
Great job guys! Sure could use you both in my kitchen disaster. Went to Staples for a new wireless mouse, looked around and came home with the mouse, a new desk chair to put together, and 2 file cabinets. All was on sale and things I needed to replace 25 yr. old beat up stuff. All in the kitchen for now. My back and neck are to sore to deal with it for a bit. Haven't been to Staples for years and they have a lot of neat stuff. I think I need a shock collar to keep me out of there.
Loving the tile - all visiting moose will be able to check their appearance and antler angle in it and that's a good and moose respectful thing 🫎 Great to see you both 😊
Looks great! Alas, my only tiling experience involves the peel-n-stick ones I put on the floor a few years ago. It was Spring Break this week, so I tackled some projects around the house to freshen it up this week too. Got sick and tired of waiting for my hubby to get around to doing them, so I did them myself. There's a minor project in the works involving building and screening an entirely new window frame, but given what I accomplished this week on my own, I'm confident I can do this job myself too.
I appreciate you making the video for us. I would be terribly disappointed if I couldn’t watch one of your videos on Saturday. You might not do everything the way a professional would do it, but it’s good enough to encourage and inspire us DIYers. Now I want to find something to tile!
I guarantee the tile guys won't, the electrical guys would install box extensions / shock rings, install new devices and do the work to square the devices / cover plates.
One thing that might help is a 'tool library' where you can borrow the tool/s you need to do a project and not have to purchase what you may never need again. Check in your community to see if its an available option. Awesome job, and i love that Jason is getting the chance to learn so many skills, and create great memories with you. And then he can, in turn, share that with his child, too. ❤
I have to say, this is one of the best step by step how to videos on basic tiling that I have seen on all of TH-cam. Thank you for posting this!!! Another awesome video!
Dude, the staggered edge is excellent. If you hang can the clock a bit higher, above the tile, it won’t look like you are trying to hide a mistake. Beautiful job by the way!
Amazing after photos of the bathroom and the music room. All of you did a great job working together. You and your mother are a blessing to the people you help ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
You, sir, are a comedian and i love coming to watch your videos! Not only for the cathartic and relaxing cleaning aspect or the sound advice for those of us who are trying to navigate through life with very little guidance, but because as someone who does understand the sarcasm can appreciate you for the humor you give - on purpose or not. Turn the volume off during those times…
You know, you could have just spin kicked those tiles instead of all that cutting.😁
Nah, he would have risked the whole kitchen exploding. 😆
