Brother, im 28 and just got my first car I actually own to myself and it’s a Chevy trail blazer I got for free. Traded my dads s10 my brother had blown up after 13 cars given to him before me, and he never kept up on. But now I get a car, taught myself to drive and how to keep up on them myself (for the most part) now the reason I haven’t had a car is because I’ve spend everyday of my life for the last 10 year’s making sure my kids have what they need. My oldest turns 10 in 4 days and as a single father this has probably been one of the best years I’ve had so far and it’s only half way through her.

I have a 2008 with 125,000. I agree. Best most reliable and comfortable car I ever owned. Heck, I’m 75. I bought my first car in 1963, a 1952 Dodge for 35 bucks. Since then I’ve owned or leased 44 cars and trucks. Not to mention hundreds of rental cars as a world traveling field engineer. Love my Trailblazer.

I got a 2006 Chevrolet trailblazer 160000 miles on it. Still running. If you still have your trailblazer get it fluid filmed underneath on the frame to keep the frame from rotting. I get mine done twice a year. I wish I would have started when I got the truck but I didn't know about fluid film then, but look it up. Don't just take my word for it. Look it up. I live in the east coast where there's snow and salt so I had to do it but if you plan on keeping that truck I advise you to look into it

@@oneway1811 245000 is alot miles, if I was you I would have been setting money to the side when it hit 190,000 mi so you can get it rebuilt. When it goes out or when you thought it would go . I Know I'm going to have to get mine rebuilt soon. Probably near the 200,000 . And I got to change out my fuel system I had bought the truck pre-owned at 50,000 mi. I don't know how much damage the previous owner did to the truck before I got it I just wish the truck was better on gas. There's no reason for a truck that size to be so bad on gas lol. I love these trucks ! I can find them so cheap with some b/$ issues and fix them . I just had an issue with my trailblazer EXT that has rear ac. The lines were leaking above the gas tank 😣 . Well I found block off caps that bypass the rear lines . Soooo no more leak for $13 shipped to my door next day 😁 . I would get a used ac compressor from a U pull it yard . Or call one of the 200 salvage yards by me and fix that ac but that's just me . Those power steering lines are known for leaking very common issue. Sometimes the P/S cooler will rot and leak also .

Had one for my first car, the magnets on the A/C clutches get weak causing the compressor not to engage. If you remove the clutch off the compressor pulley you’ll find a few shims, I took two of them out, threw it back together and it worked good as new. Didn’t even have to take the belt off. Of course check if the system holds a charge first. Good luck with the thing!

Too funny... I paid $750 at a city impound auction for my '03 about 5 years ago and it's a beast. Nothing was really wrong with it, gave it a good tune up, swapped out a couple parts, and it's been reliable as can be. The 4.2 Atlas is an amazing engine and easy to boost with stock internals. I wish they made more performance parts for it.

Very nice deal for what you picked up. If the ac is the only issue, I think you came out ahead. The seller probably sold it for that price due to the inoperable ac. The average shop charges 2-3k to replace a bad compressor and related components.

As an owner of an Envoy Denali (GMT-360) that is the sister of the Trailblazer.
The only issue I've had is the front wheel bearings/hub going bad, pretty normal wear and tear type stuff. The trucks weakness is the sway bar end links, those things don't last for jack. Otherwise I'm at 213k on the original transmission and engine (5.3) these trucks are pretty solid as long as the maintenance is kept up with. They do take a good bit of abuse as well, I've never had an serious issues with mine aside from the A/C condenser springing a leak due to age. The I6 is prone to a spider web crack forming in the exhaust manifold, which could be the source of the exhaust leak (forms inside facing the engine).

750 ? Omg you got the deal of a lifetime! I have the exact same car, LTZ . Same exact interior color, outside is black. I currently have over 312,000 miles. Everything ORIGINAL. Motor transmission all original. Those motors are bullet proof and that owner definitely took care of it. Why he sold it for so cheap is beyond me. I wish I saw that ad, I would have gone to China if necessary to pick it up. By the way., I too had a power steering issue with it, it wound up being the metal tubing that runs along that area developed a small pin hole
So the entire rod was replaced.. I have a picture if you want. It's on my phone I'll have to scroll and look for it. This was many years ago. Other than wear and tear, I'm going to drive it to the very end. Extremely reliable and very strong. In an effort to save money, I like to repair things myself when I can. Recently I replaced the thermostat and let me tell you, that was a bear. I though the alternator was difficult lol. No rust on mine either and I live in PA . Lots of salt use during winter. Who ever buys that is getting an SUV the way they don't make them anymore. Rock solid.

I still have my 2005 Trailblazer. I use it as an airplane hauler but it's been great. There are some things to look out for.
    1) The transmissions are junk. The first one in mine died at 80k miles.
    2) The instrument cluster is prone to dying, but if you're decent with a soldering iron the stepper motor kits are real cheap on eBay.
    3) The exhaust leaks are common. They happen in 2 places. Right in front of the cat and right at the exhaust manifold.
I've also had to replace the front control arms and bushings.
But otherwise it's been great. Mine's the EXT model and the 4.2L has been fantastic. I really wish it was in my 2018 Traverse instead of the 3.6L V6.

It's a gas hog at 17- 18mpg highway driving, but I like it because it's roomy. I've had a few road trips with it and the family too. I paid $10k for it (maybe too much), but it payed itself off by now. I don't regret my purchase. It's got pretty good HP too. Good enough for passing, merging into freeway etc. It's a good classic Chevy IMHO. It has 172k miles now and still going to strong

I bought mine for the same price in 2020, 165k miles, 179k now. It’s been decent. Spent some money on doors that weren’t rusted out and some suspension work. I use it as a winter beater. Does that job well.

I also have a 2003 Trailblazer 4x4 straight 6. The power steering leak is probably the pressure line over the drivers wheel well. Just repair the line with a compression union and some copper pipe and your good to go! MyTB never fails me, just rusting

You got extremely lucky. A little over a year ago, I had purchased a 1998 Chevy Trail Blazer with the 4.3 L V6, and 4 Wheel Drive, and paid $1,100 for it. It soon became a mechanical nightmare however, and I was so relieved when a friend of mine had a 1998 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer Edition that just needed a battery, fuel pump, Alternator, and some minor electrical work done, and now I have a much better SUV with All Wheel Drive, Moon Roof, power seats, windows, and door locks, and keyless entry, and for a bonus, it also has a super hyper sensitive alarm system on it as well. My friend offered me the sweet deal of an even swap, Blazer for explorer, no money changing hands. I paid nothing for the explorer cash wise, so if I were to sell it, my asking price would be probably around the $2500 range.

It was the S-10 Blazer in 1998. The Trailblazer didn’t show up until 2002.

@@andrewcolsen It can be confusing a bit since the Trailblazer name started off as a Trim level for the S-10 Blazer.

I've always liked these suv's. I had an envoy and after the typical used car maintenance it was a great general purpose vehicle. I would buy another. Btw there was an SS version for sale in by for 7k last week in by. Wish I jumped on it.

I bought an 03 LTZ for my teenaged daughter a year or so ago. I got it cheap knowing that the suspension needed work. My daughter and I replaced the control arms, ball joints, tie rod ends, shocks, struts, brakes sway bar bushings, and sway bar links over the winter. Unfortunately, the thing I didn't catch when I bought it was that in over 250,000 miles, the transmission was likely never serviced. I had it drained and flushed and it failed within 50 miles. That became a hard decision, because a transmission rebuild cost as much as I already had into the vehicle. I ended up getting it done, figuring that the vehicle had at least 50k miles of life left in it if holds up as long as my first trailblazer (on '04 I bought new). She's been driving it daily for about 9 months now with no issues whatsoever. These SUVs have a few known issues that can cause problems but are fixable: Instrument panel dying, front wheel bearings (very easy to change) , and weak transmissions. They never got good gas mileage, you can expect about 18mpg on a good day.

I Have owned 10 GM vehicles in my life, and have never had a steering wheel alignment issue, if the shop i took it to knew how to align a vehicle properly.

If it hasn't sold already, I'll be buying one as well (form one of the workers who built the frame).
The frames on all the GM truck line were made at the infamous Budd Automotive in Ontario (now long gone bulldozed).
They were well made just remember that the transmission in them is tiny and is maxed out just moving itself around. Get its fluids change yearly both trans and transfer case and differential and it'll last and last.
No overdrive if you pull anything use tow/haul gear.
Oil spray the bottom and wash underneath weekly if you drive in snow.
You will retire still driving it if you follow this.

I bought a 2006 Escalade for $900 from a dealership. They claimed it needed a motor, it just needed a water pump. I've been driving it for a year since. Got a 2006 HHR for $600, oil change and a vacuum job and sold it for $1500. 2008 Impala, $600, oil change, air filter and vacuum job, out the door for $1200.
