Thanks for the Chessie/B&O/C&O stuff, Ron. Lots of stuff to have fun upgrading. It was cool talking to you on the phone...I actually know somebody on TH-cam now. ;)
Glad you like it and they all have a new forever home
Hey Ron! Just wanted to say thank you again for being willing to work on the old 259. You have no idea how much it means to me and my family, and we all hope that you’re feeling better
It's in great hands. 💯
Nice to see a fellow Buffalonian watches.
Sure thing Owen, Just sorry it's takin me so long to get it into production.
@@classicmodeltrainsNo need to apologize! What you’re doing is awesome! It’ll be well worth the wait
Pittsburgh here love your videos
Super O track has plastic ties and a thin center rail.
Dang it! I knew that felt wrong when I said it. Thats just O gauge track I showed there. (you think anybody else noticed?) :-)
@@classicmodeltrains Well probably... but it's all good. Man I do love your channel!
Hey Ron, I don’t know what your medical problems are but I know a lot of people have issues because they’ve been eating standard American diet. The new trend it’s called the carnivore diet or lion diet - People are turning around many ailments - basically go to a low carbohydrate maybe zero carbohydrate diet and I bet you’ll feel 20 years younger - I did. Mineral water and red meat 🥩- best wishes to you.
I just had a inner ear infection. Makes me feel dizzy and headaches.
@@classicmodeltrains yikes - I had those before - they went away as I removed alcohol from my diet - hope your doing better!
Are berks a 2-8-4 or 4-8-4
I'm just regurgitating what the internet told me. I guess the info was off
Ron is the best host. He instructed me through fixing my Lionel diesel unit. I was just happy that he put up with me asking, asking, asking how to. That unit is now a hoot to run on my layout.
Glad that is still running good for you
You're a good Man for taking on what most people wouldn't these days, I can't wait it's the only TV I get Classic Model Trains Show, What a treat watching to the end.
Thank you very much for your kind words :-)
I recommend Super Clean (in the purple jug) for stripping paint, especially for plastic which it is safe to use on.
Right on! Cant find it where I'm at
Nice one Ron. I wish you better. Yours, Gordon.
Thanks Gordon
21:35 The 4006 is at the Museum of Transport in Saint Louis.
I want to go to transport museums
Hope you’re feeling better. You got some nice stuff there.
Slowly coming around I hope
I suggest calling Northlandz in New Jersey....America's Largest Model railroad...they might work a deal out with you
A deal for what?
@@classicmodeltrains All of those trains you are selling
Like always Ron,great video, great person you are, please take care, remember health is first.
Thank you
We are born dying Ron..but there is the best train videos in between..lol..great video
You make a good point there!
Ron; hope that you are feeling better and the darn ear infection is a thing of the past! I need to email you regarding O gauge remaining estate sale items.
Its slowly getting better! Still have a lot of O stuff
@@classicmodeltrains The 2025 just arrived minutes ago, Ron ! Terrific! Thank You!
Hope you are feeling better! PUH TOW MACK 😉 33%er! KAHTOE
And it's a Mountain/Mohawk. 😉
Thats what I said.....Hurry and get in the Chop PA!
Ron hope you feel better soon, love the cars I bought off you there great!
Glad you like them Mark!
Kato got the SD40s wrong in my opinion. The dash 2's have the bigger porches since they were using the SD45-2 chassis. But all the dash 2s have sight glass/port hole window on the engineers side of the long hood near the rear and this sifht glass applies to GP38s, GP40s, SD40s, and SD45s that i know for sure. So they gave them the dash 2 porches but gave it a straight 40 hood.
Manufacturers always creative freedoms with there models
Thumbs Up 2-8-2 I like that. Your page and videos are awesome.
4:00 "...a small dent..." You're talking like, like a mountain... Hill-areas... hilarious.
4:40 Brake fluid is a dessicant, it'll eat/absorb moisture (and your water-content skin) so please be careful or wear gloves while using it.
13:52 Sperry... It's belt driven and that belt gets dry and breaks. The rail detector car is well over 25 years old, same general chassis and motor as their Doodlebug.
Have fun... April 30 was the crash date in 1900 for Casey Jones.
29:15 Behind that Amtrak unit you have wood paneling... That is called Boxcar Siding.
John
Thanks for watching John, and some good info!! I call that siding wainscoting
Dropping a Big Boy. YIKES!! Casey Jones wasn't watching his speed! Hopefully it will be back up and looking good!
Yes I hope it comes out. Lynn says its much worse when you open the plastic up on it......Uh -Oh
Kato Made a straight sd-40. Look at the engineer side long hood, if there's a site glass opening it's a dash 2, if not it's a straight sd-40. At the end of the video you showed track, saying it's super-0, but it's just regular heavier 0 guage. Super-0 has simulated wood ties with a metal strip for a third rail instead of a regular rail. It was supposed to look more realistic and make the third rail less noticable. It was made late 50s/early 60s. It really does look nice, but was nearly twice as expensive as the regular track, especially the switches.good luck on the repairs
I'm looking forward to them.
I had a brain fart with the O gauge track. I wished I had a bunch of super o track. It looks very nice for its time
I hope you are feeling better. I had an inner ear infection last month and it was miserable, I felt like I had a hangover and I didn't even get to enjoy the intoxication part first.
The first thing I would do with that Pacific is rip that MRC decoder out of it and throw it in the trash where it belongs. To date the only functioning decoders I have ever chucked in the bin were MRC/XL Systems sound decoders.
I don't know so much about their HO scale, but Bachmann has really upped their game in N scale in the past 20 years or so, they have come a long ways since their white box days.
Your description of hangover symptoms was spot on. What a weird infection to get for sure. Makes a 3 day flu look like a vacation. I'm interested to see if that MRC decoder works. would be nice to showcase some old DCC tech.
I like NAPA's Purple Power Degreaser cleaner better than Simple Grenn. I find it's cheaper too. Window cleaner without ammonia cleans very well on most plastics including old plastics. The best clear plastic cleaner is an aircraft window cleaner.
Thanks for the info
Glad you're feeling better. So, were all those Bachmanns really a "gift", or did you unknowingly do something to tick-off Lynn?!? Lol 😂
You know I never though about it till you mentioned this.........HumMMMmmmmm..... I wonder now :-)
hi Ron. Love the videos you do. your the best. What up with the all Bachmanns?? L McC loves you man...Hehelol
A couple Fellers mentioned that theory. Lynn's out to get me :-)
I know this is old video and I’m working my way thru all of your videos , love them all a 33%er. To pronounce Potomac is ( puh-toe-mic ) great videos
Thanks for supporting my channel and watching all the vids :-)
The 259 looks like something that the Chip Channel should restore. He does a most excellent job on old crusty rusty Tonka and Buddy L trucks.
Ive seen some of them guys channels. That is amazing
Since that NP 484 was a custom it is possible that's a modified tender from the old Monogram Big Boy model kit. Bowser put out a Big Boy kit in the 80s that was just the locomotive and an electrification kit for the tender. For the tender you went to the model kit section of the hobby shop and got the static Big Boy kit and modded the tender to work with the Bowser parts. Needless to say anyone that had the kits after Monogram discontinued the model made serious bank off Ebay when people bought the Bowser kit at swap meets.
Don't sweat the voice there's a folksy feller that does will it start and drive home car videos with a similar voice mannerism that does pretty good.
I have a static big boy kit. Still in the box. I believe your statement is correct because that tender was a bit on the "large" size for that steamer, and the foam was cut out in the box a bit. I wish I was doing as well as that "Folksy" Feller :-)
Super colleciom 😊😊 model train, super Big Boy for Athearn.J have model Big Boy Union Pacific for Rivarossii, Classic model.
Thank you
Another great video Ron. Hope you are feeling better. I have been there done that where nobody can tell me what is wrong with me… frustrating. What a donation! Should make for great content for several weeks! Take care, Jeff.
Thanks Jeff. Yes at least I didnt spend a bunch of money for the doc to say "???"
That SP is an SD-40. SD-40-2s have a hole in one of the rear doors on the engineer's side of the long hood, so the radiator's water level sight glass can be checked without having to open the door.
Thanks for the good info
Super glad you're feeling better. When we talked, I'd figured you wouldn't have a video out for another week. When you're ready, I can share some of the Back Story on those engines and a little more what's wrong with them. Example is the two Cotton Belts. Those are the ones I got from a Lady, assume she was a lady. That told her now Ex husband to Get Out and you better take all your trains with you. He didn't, or not Fast enough and sold them to me for cheap. Worked great till at a train show a few years ago when both of them came to a Grinding halt. That Big Boy is really messed up. You didn't take the engine out of the sleeve.
Hello Lynn. I function in between headaches and dizzy spells. Yes back stories are always fun. The Cotton Belt story is a bit dark. I will reach out as each loco is under repairs. Thanks once again for this great box of treasures.
Those tracks you called super O are really just 'O' gauge. The super Os have the thin blackish middle rail.
Yes I blew it. Had brain fart
Hey Ron great video. How abut giving me a call so I can get with you on buying some HO scale cars before they all get away? Thanks my friend. 🤠
Well I would love to call. If we have talked before I would have your name in my book, but I don’t know your name because of your TH-cam user name is showing up on this post. Drop me a e-mail will make it easier to get this ball rolling. :-)
As usual great content in the video. Hope you’re doing better and can’t wait to see how good that 259 comes out. I have standard gauge steamers with that brass and copper and when they shine they are something to see.
WOW! standard gauge!! I looked top some used prices on those. HOLY MOLY!! spendy
Incredible donation from Lynn! 😲 There's some cool stuff in there. Hope you're feeling better.
Yes it was! I'm slowly getting there :-)
Thanks for another great video. I’ll be sending you an email on some Ho stuff.
OK. sounds good
Very nice locomotive collection that Lynn mccurdy donated to your channel.
He's just the greatest Feller!!
Hi Ron, so who was the super model , great video, always amazed by the donations, 33% regards Marc
Hello Marc. I put who the model of the week is at the end of the video. This video had 2 endings, but it was in subtitle at the first ending. But I will tell you anyway. Olivia Hussey. late 60's actress
Olivia Hussey/Romeo and Juliet 1970-71
Nice Job Stephen!!
Hey Ron glad you’re feeling better. Keep us entertained with what u do so well. I enjoy all that you put out for us to see I find it relaxing
Thanks so much
I just had the same symptoms myself, am feeling better now.
Good to hear. Did it take 3 weeks to get better?
Good to see you back ron sorry to hear you’ve been ill hope all back to normal now bud take care
Slowly getting there
Hi Ron & it's is Randy and i like yours video is cool & Thanks Ron & Friends Randy
Hello Randy, Thank you very much
That Athearn big boy suffered the same fate as my Broadway Limited big boy, although mine was able to be fixed after a hefty fee
Oh No!! now Ive heard of 2 of them with sudden de-acceleration syndrome. Makes me sad
I bought a 259E and tender at York a year ago and it has been a great little engine. It's not wild about my O-27 curves though. I use oven cleaner and Dawn Platinum for stripping and painting preparation (on tinplates I should add). Was that Tom Cruise's ex?
Oh the 27" curves a bit tight? She's Olivia Hussey. late 60's actress
@classicmodeltrains Gotcha, thanks! I think with the 259E, the drivers are spaced a little more, which makes the O-27 curves a bit tight. It will do it but it doesn't like it. At least mine doesn't.
More wheels in,more videos, a coming👨🔧🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🇨🇦🇺🇲🙋
yup!
Awesome. We're the locos from the donation ho scale?
Yes all HO
My an i wish i was able to work i need a blow up car my nephew been asking for it
Oh the Lionel boxcar?
That was fun to watch Ron 😁👍
Thanks
That's not a berk. That's a MOUNTAIN
I'm just regurgitating what the internet told me. I guess the info was off
Well, Ron, it looks like you now have a few more projects to work on.. I love steamers... There are some very nice looking locos there... and I will be following along with interest. I'm glad you're feeling better. Wow, Lynn is sure looking after you there with that lovely donation of a few locos........................... I would definitely buy some stuff from you if I was in USA or Canada but seeing I'm in Melbourne Australia.. the postage would be phenomenal and not worth it... damn.. you have some great bargains....
Same, there's a couple HO PRR items I wouldn't mind. But eugh, the shipping to AU would be abhorrent.
Hello Tim, Yes your area is almost like trying to ship to the moon. So far away.
yhanks for the video job well done see ya next one
Thanks
I've had the same health problems. Stupid doctors don't know whats going on. I randomly get headaches followed by dizziness every so often.
I cant even get into a clinic for them to root around and see whats going on. Headaches and dizziness really blows though.
@@classicmodeltrains hope it's nothing serious. Hope you get well soon. Your a cool dude. Best train channel ever!
Looks like we got a lot of good videos coming up!
Yup. A bunch of newer classic stuff for sure
Potomac is pronounced puh toe mick
Thats what I said ;-)
Ron do you still have any o gauge stuff for sale
Yes I do. Send me a email with your phone number. I will call and we can go over what your looking for.
I love brasso. Wish I had known about it a few years ago! Looks like some good projects coming up. The Athearn Genesis I fixed a while ago was sensitive to dirty track. Oh, and I have that Bachmann Niagara, same box. I think I got it in the early 2000's, mine has survived with no cracked gears. Has the can motor with flywheel gear. I took out most of the tender axles so it could fit the 18" radius on our old layout.
Right on! Thanks for some great tips as well
The Bachmann 517 4-8-2 is actually called a “Mountain” and Bachmann made both a Light version and Heavy version. A Berkshire is a 2-8-4 wheel arrangement. The CNW 6 axle 8606 locomotive is actually a dash 9 and not a dash 8. Glad you’re feeling better!
Thanks for the info. I was just repeating what the internet told me them locos were.
a berkshire is 2-8-4
I was just regurgitating what the internet told me it was.
Old MRC sound.
Thanks!
SAW IT 8 TIMES
Thanks for the support :-)
Hi, really enjoy your light hearted and informative videos. May I ask, how do you polish those jewel cases so great?
Thanks.
Jewel Cases?
@@classicmodeltrains little cases that hold the cars
@@RichDrao the only time I’ve done that was with them N gauge Atlas cars from the 60’s. I just used turtle wax on them. Polish it like a car.
@@classicmodeltrains thank you
Hi Ron, good to see you. I'm sorry you're not feeling well, hopefully you get better soon. Watch your health, you don't want to burn out. You have been busy with the sale etc, looks like you sold a few.
Looking forward to seeing the next restoration and paint removal video.
I'm going to keep my eye on the passenger cars restoration you showed in the bus, be a good addition 🤔...
Keep up the great work, get well, get better. Cheers.
Thanks Robert!
Great video!! I got the order today, can’t believe how quickly it arrived. Thanks for everything, it was great talking to you in person.
Thank you and glad you enjoy the new/old cars!
The Pennsylvania car you first started with 86.Foot long were used to carry automobile body panels
Thank you Carl!! I always appreciate learning new stuff :-)
Was a really good show Ron. Glad you are feeling better. I just got an ultrasonic cleaner, used the simple green in a bag trick you do, worked great. You teach us some really useful tips. Thanks Ron…
Good stuff dude
Cool on the ultrasonic! Hope you find it as useful as I do
Wishing all the best for you my Good Friend. Hope you get better very, very soon. Take a good care of yourself Ron, ok?
Hello again Regis. I'm doing overtime getting around to answering all the comments for the last 2 weeks. I try and take care of myself but sometimes something still "gets" me
First I would like to say thank you for your service . Glad you are feeling better . My guess for the classic model George Harrison : ( Guess I need to renew my lens prescription . Thank you for your great videos .
So close with George.....but no :-)
Well, good luck with the body work on the train set and I'm looking forward to seeing the results. I can't believe some of the things you are donated. I am envious! I also want to wish you good health for the future and if you need help with that BIG BOY, just sent it to me. lol
Thanks for the offer!! :-D
Early genesis with MRC sound, crazy locomotive
Thank you for that info! I was wondering what it was
Best instructional and most entertaining model train channel out there, by far! Just enough information, just short of too much! (we had the same 'uncle")
Thanks so much!! Yes that Uncle, Interesting stories he makes
Welcome to the Big Boy club for the 3rd time Ron, just became an O scale member this weekend, come over and see!
Hello Local Dave. We need to invent a secret handshake for our B.B. Club :-)
Do your best to not burn yourself out.
Doing too much can have negative effects.
Don’t forget to enjoy a cold one and have a set on the porch. Maybe enjoy a pipe or a cigar.
I like the way you think!!
Another great video. Sorry to hear you were under the weather. Those inner ear infections can be a real pain. Glad to see you working on stuff again. Until next time.
Thanks John
It feels surreal knowing that I helped thin out that collection of old Talgo truck-fitted rolling stock shown, lol.
Yup! Only a few Fellers ate from that pot :-)
Glad you are feeling better, hope you get back to 100% soon.
Thank you
It's a dash9

Good luck on the restoration you'll do a good job usually do and you'll feel better if you get more sleep
Oh Sleep? Sounds interesting :-)
Olivia Hussey I think! Romeo and Juliet and Lost Horizon movies. The CNW is a AC 4400 I think. Will check in with you when we head out East and swing by to see if you have anything left to purchase around June 7 or 8.
