I love Soap & clays recipe for bubble frosting. Very rarely do I ever have to add any extra liquid. Pipes beautifully. I've tried a few purchased ones also.
I agree, I started a series last month called inspired by and Soap And Clay was my first feature. I did her batharones and her bubble frosting and couldn’t be happier. I don’t use that for all things, I purchased the dream come true recipe and tweaked the living hell out of it to get it to work for me however, Soap And Clay‘s bubble frosting is perfectly fine and I enjoyed working with it.
i agree with the wonderbar issue of wonderbar i am having the same issue i have both those recipez and agree with everything you said thank you for this video i was thinking its me
It may work for some people with a lot of tweaking but it did not work for me as it is intended and as it was formulated.
Thank you for sharing. Bought the wonder bar recipe today, hopefully it’ll work. My version says 91% alcohol, I wonder (no pun intended lol) if that’d make a difference.
There will be more water content in 71% and 91% as opposed to the 99% but it shouldn’t affect it too bad. Sadly for me, the wonder bar just doesn’t really work. I prefer the dream come true recipe with a whole lot of tweaks. Also, I had purchased the frosting from two wild hairs and that is a good recipe on its own.
Yes, I've used the dream come true one and it was still soft for over a week and messed up my bathbombs
Yeah that recipe doesn’t work for me but it does for some people. That’s where experimenting, testing and tweaking recipes is key. Sadly, there are a good number of people who want to be creative, but they just don’t know where to start, they don’t know how to formulate and so it’s just easier for them to purchase something from somebody else. The problem lies when problems arise, and they don’t know how to fix them.
@@TheSoapChef exactly! I had to tweak mine a bit then ultimately just came up with my own. Luckily I have that Chem background.
@@catmamma79 I think being able to formulate from scratch b/c of the knowledge we have of the ingredients we are working with is priceless. We aren’t dependent on anyone else to hand us our living.
I use 91% isopropyl alcohol to thin mine and it helps it dry quicker.
I don't understand Wonder Bar. I made it the other day and followed it exactly. I was mixing it in my Kitchenaid and it was not forming a ball. All other recipes do, so I did not know what I should expect. The WB recipe said nothing other than 'observe the texture, add RA as you feel needed, find your sweet spot'. I am, honestly, livid. I purchased this recipe for a lot of money and there are neither words nor pictures showing the correct texture!! I FB messaged Robyn to no avail. Not a happy customer. Thanks for your great video!
I’m so sorry about that. That’s why I don’t use the words no fail or fool proof or guaranteed. There just doesn’t exist anything on the planet that you can make those claims. Wonder bar did not work for me and I will not use it however it does work for some people. I’m sorry that you had a bad experience. Hopefully Robyn will reach out to you soon.
How many times did you try this recipe? It takes some practice to get the texture. ☺️ There are multiple videos on TH-cam that show you exactly what you can expect. The first time I made it I needed a lot more alcohol than the recipe called for, like four or five times 😳. I asked about it on the Facebook page and found that I wasn’t doing anything wrong, it’s just based on humidity and probably even dew point. I have a very dry workspace so I guess I needed more alcohol. 🤔 By my second batch I had it figured out. I have made multiple items for my store and it just took a little more practice. Don’t give up. It’s just a new recipe for you and will behave differently than other recipes. I don’t think I got a ball comes in my mixer, come to think of it. The hardest part for me was so much alcohol and that takes about a week to dissipate in my environment. Mine haven’t dried hard as rocks, but definitely harder than other recipes I have. I am able to put my bubble scoops naked in a display jar whereas the other recipes have to be wrapped and handled more delicately. I know it’s frustrating especially since the recipe was expensive and the ingredients weren’t cheap either, but I think you will really find the “sweet spot” the more you work with it. ♥️
Personally, I love the DCT formula! I use 91% alcohol to thin mine and it helps it dry faster! I don't use water to thin it out, it just takes forever for it to dry. It makes absolutely incredible bubbles! The wonderbar formula is meh, I never piped it, just made scoops. It was easy to work with, but the bubbles were just not there.
Yeah, lots of people swear by the DCT formula and I use a very heavily tweaked version of that, however, the recipe that I have posted on my second channel subsequent to this review is way better in my opinion and it’s my own
@@TheSoapChef interesting! I'll go check it out! Thank you so much for the info!
@@TheSoapChef um what is your second channel please?

@@TheSoapChef thank you ma'am!
Would you be willing to sell your recipe for piping? I've bought 3 different recipes and all have their issues :/ lol
I know what you mean, I have the same problem. Two out of the three that I have purchased I have had to tweak ALOT. The one that I work with the most is from DIY on Etsy and I can’t share the formula because it’s theirs and copyrighted, even though I have tweaked the crap out of it. other people make small changes here or there to recipes that they have purchased and then turn around and sell them but I personally don’t find that to be ethical. The second one that I purchased that also doesn’t work for me is wonder bar because you have to add an enormous amount of alcohol to get it to pipe properly and then it starts seizing up for the amount of alcohol that you have to add. The only recipe that I have found that works without any tweaks is the one from two wild hares on Etsy.
