    It happened to me on my test and the wisest thing to do is to NOT panic first of all. Acknowledge that you're in the wrong lane, chill, stay in that wrong lane and if in doubt, go round the roundabout again if needed. Then once you've settled, exit safely. I've had to go round twice before existing and I still passed. The feedback from the examiner was very positive

    • @PiousMoltar
      @PiousMoltar ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wow I would have thought going all the way round would be frowned upon, especially if you did it twice!
      But now I'm gonna feel more comfortable when I do find myself having to go all the way round, so that's a good thing.
      Also, top tip... if there's a huge queue to go forwards at the roundabout, but nobody queueing to turn right, get in the right lane, go around the whole roundabout, hooray you've just skipped most of the queue! Maybe that would be a little frowned upon... but again, seems it's no big deal, I might do that more often now haha

    • @kaleemsummally5976
      @kaleemsummally5976 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PiousMoltar I'll be honest I thought I'd failed as well when I went around a second time. But all I kept saying to myself was "go the wrong way safely even if I have to do it twice and take your time" and that was exactly the feedback I got from my examiner at the end. As long as you're safe and keep doing your observations, there's no room for failure!

    Where I live there's a particular roundabout that's most likely to be used in the test as it's right next to the test centre. Changing lane like you did here will almost guarantee you a fail in your test.
    That particular test center want you to pick the right lane, and if your not then they expect you to carry on to exit for that lane.

  • @Ka50BlackShark

    And would this be ok if you were at a controlled crossroad past the stop line entering in lane 1 (again in a left turn only marked lane but wanting to turn right) but then safely moved over to lane 2 to make the right turn?

    Did this exactly as shown in the video on my first test 2 years ago and failed. I would not even recommend doing this, if you are in the wrong lane, don’t risk changing lanes mid roundabout, just take the exit that’s off route, better to be safe than sorry, they also anticipate learners going the wrong way so they won’t fail you if you take another exit (but try to stay on course)

    • @ConquerDriving
      @ConquerDriving  ปีที่แล้ว

      Changing lane mid roundabout is normal practise. When turning right you start in the right and usually move to the left before leaving. Then there are spiral roundabouts where multiple lane changes are often needed. The lane change should not be the fail, it's how the lane change is done.

  • @SuchyMilo

    Surely you could also just take the third exit. Admittedly not going where the examiner wanted you to go, but not unsafe so shouldn't be marked down as long as you do it properly. Should also work if you were in the left lane but had been instructed to take the third exit - Ignore the examiners directions and go straight on.

  • @Jae-fk9vn
    @Jae-fk9vn 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Surely acknowledging you're in the wrong lane, doing a full cycle of the roundabout and moving to the appropriate lane during a test would constitute a pass still. As long as, you recognise your error, make a point of calling it out, and explaining how you plan to rectify it, safely. Taking the wrong approach on a roundabout is such a common mistake most experienced drivers do quite often. That surely wouldn't be a fail, unless in a blind panic the learner does something reckless.

  • @Trav-eller

    How strange. When I took lessons I was taught to do them exactly like this. Asking as a Dutch driver, how come this is "wrong lane"?
    You're taking the second exit from the roundabout (straight), therefore both lanes, both while entering and while driving towards the first exit, are perfectly valid parts of the driveway to be on...(you have two lanes of traffic moving all the time, why squeeze yourself?)
    I've also noticed some people pointing out that one shouldn't go round on roundabouts in the first lane, which negates the purpose of roundabouts, as well...

    • @ScaledNotesMusic
      @ScaledNotesMusic ปีที่แล้ว

      Left lane is normally left or ahead, and right is right only, unless the "ahead" road is also 2 lanes (in which case you'll just exit in the right lane).
      Road markings can (and often do) override this.

    •  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ScaledNotesMusic Roundabouts split intersection maneuvers into multiple ones - going straight on a roundabout means at least 2 turns, 3 if you do the lane shuffle (right to join, right to lane change to inner lane, left through the outside lane for exit).
      You're right, lane markings override all, but then it stops being a roundabout and becomes a traffic plaza or complex intersection (unless you're on a turbo-roundabout with spiral lanes)
