Henry Wylie mostly because the notes are so much more spread, on a guitar you have so many more options of where you can go on bass, especially 4-string, it’s very limited. I can def appreciate someone who can see that bass ain’t as easy as everyone says.
what a beast, oceans ate alaska riffs are already hard on guitar, it must be a pain on bass. Im a guitarist who played bass in a band and shit is not as easy as a lot of people think and quite often the longer scale makes riffs way harder lol on the brightside you dont have to learn wonky chord shapes
As a songwriter watching Mike gives me lots of ideas in the ways one could write bass parts for a song. Pretty damn inspiring in the way he sometimes provides a very solid foundation for what is already being played, and sometimes adds more layers to it and ads depth to the song. Awesome job!
Amazing. How you and Chris keep those weird ass time signatures up blows my mind, it takes a real musical talent to do that and ashamedly I struggle with it :/
very tight and perfect glue for what the music would need. Little sad some chops didn't have the sixteenths like the kicks of the drums but I get it and it works like this. Nice work! you guys are becoming a staple!
Hey man! How you doing? I won't be doing the whole album no, I just stuck to the singles that the majority of people would know. Is there a particular song you would like to see a play through for?
+Mike Stanton I've been much better lol, I hope you're doing well! I would adore seeing you play Blood Brothers, I've always wanted to know the bass to it.
You tune your guitar with a base of A 440 Hz, every instruments is tuned with it, a piano tunes other classic instruments by playing an A 440 Hz. When you tune your guitar in drop B, whatever is the B frequence, you tune it with a based A 440Hz !
Liked it but was a tad disappointed in the beginning when I noticed him just following the guitarist But then did his own thing during the bridge Bravo The entire band is phenomenal
Riffs like this are usually like twice as hard on bass as guitar.
Mad respect on this dude

Alexander Fischer I agree, this is coming from a bassist who also plays guitar.

gosh i love this and the band as a whole.

My new favorite bass player. Love and support from the Philippines!
Mike, it is so cool that you answer almost every comment here, thanks for the effort!
Thanks man it's all good! I love seeing the feedback on the play through videos I upload 👍
I'm absolutely in love with your playthroughs I love the way you have your bass set to sound
Thank you! Yeah the tone for the video is a bit more crunchier to stand out in the audio, but for live I go for a much more punchier low end sound
Amazing. How you and Chris keep those weird ass time signatures up blows my mind, it takes a real musical talent to do that and ashamedly I struggle with it :/
this is freaking awsome!! and that bass-tone is br000dl af
DUDE!! idk why I'm just seeing this?? I Love the fact that you guys post playthroughs from all bandmembers!!! really sickk!!!
"I want a bass cover, said no one ever" haha this was amazing though. Nice job
cover?
Haha thanks man!
This isnt a cover. This is the actual Bass player for OAA
What makes this play through more impressive is the fact that even in guitar this may sound pretty well as a lead.
(English is not my main language)
Badass play through for a badass bassist, good job man 🤘 i need to learn this on guitar somehow!
Thanks Matthew! Haha go try it 🤘
What a THICK sound. I love it.
Dudeee! That was sick! Keep it up
Thank you! Will do!
All the love and support from Peru!
You are the best on bass for metal
Cheers Paul! Appreciate it!
Damn bro, why they stopped doing these bass playthroughs? :(
1 year ago today, I saw you guys in Ottawa! Too bad the venue you played in is closed now. :(
Was that at the Ritual Nightclub??
It was!
Zach Miner I'll have to go sometime! I'm actually from NY but Canada in the closest big city with live music.
Justin Oh really? What city do you live in?
You wouldn't know it haha. It's like 5 minutes from the border though so Ottawa is the closest bigger city to me.
You guys are awesome, great instrumentals!!!
very tight and perfect glue for what the music would need. Little sad some chops didn't have the sixteenths like the kicks of the drums but I get it and it works like this. Nice work! you guys are becoming a staple!
Amazing Bro
OAA are the best! i love this vids

Still listening to this and wondering what's the inspiration that brings this to life. Sickening!
Lots of different influences put this together haha! If you like this our next record is going to blow your mind!
Mike Stanton That's what I like to read! Bring it on my maaaaaaaan!
this band has amazing member imo
I only wish I could hear the bass a liiittle better
For real, their bass tone is way too good to not be heard in the mix.
Same
Yo awesome job Mike! Keep pullin those strings.
Haha thanks man! I'll carry on slappin da bass! 🎩
man, you're awesome, cheers from brazil
Thanks man! Cheers Brazil
I love Bass playthroughs of metal. They don't get enough respect. You don't hear it as well in the mix but if the bass is gone, it's 1000% noticable.
can't wait for OAA to be back in United States soon I hope, would love to see them headline🖖✨
Love it!!!!
Thank you Karen!
Thank you Karen!

+Elisa 1902 hell yeah!!
hey Mike! we met at the Merriweather warped tour (I got your attention at the end of the set); do you plan on playing through the whole album?

AWESOME
We have the same bass. Fender Aerodyne if I’m right .
Give us High Horse Guitar Playthrough
Great playing! Just need to get rid of that Orange amp and play through Darkglass stuff. The tone won't be muddy at all.
Mike is fucking amazing
Thanks man! Appreciate it 🤘
Damn man where's most of that tone coming from? It's nasty!
esto es excitante para mis oídos ! i love it
woah bass? wow
wow lml 💜
what tuning do you guys play in if i may ask? :) and sick playthrough man! love the bass lines
I might be wrong but I'm sure I saw somewhere that they are playing in Drop B 432 Hz, which means you're lower than drop B but higher than drop A#
Drop B 432Hz? You do realise that 432/440 is A?
its drop B lowered 8 cents is what he means
That doesn't make sense because 432 is still an A, not B
You tune your guitar with a base of A 440 Hz, every instruments is tuned with it, a piano tunes other classic instruments by playing an A 440 Hz. When you tune your guitar in drop B, whatever is the B frequence, you tune it with a based A 440Hz !
fuckin sick man, love you guys.
love your alls shit, keep it up
Cheers dude! Will do
Killer
