It's amazing that the Universal Monsters are still evergreen and universally recognized 90 years later. I have most of the NECA figures of the Monsters.
The reason the Frankenstein Monster is depicted with green skin is that during the filming, Karloff's makeup was green, which appears a pale gray on black and white film.
Universal monsters will always be my favorite and currently I have been collecting the Neca Ultimate series of them which are amazing and extremely detailed.
I watched this Island earth last year and I am surprised how little in the movie the freaking alien is in it, it's like they were paying the costume actor per second.
Mego, in the last few years, has had some cool throwback looking universal monsters starting with the Bela Lugosi dracula figure. I'm not sure if they are continuing any more monster figures and going full on superhero figures.
My three favorites from the sideshow Universal Monsters series are Dracula, Igor and the Red Death version of the Phantom. Now I'm collecting them again 20 yrs later w/the NECA collection.
@Pegwarmers the universal monsters have been my favorite from 4 or 5 yrs old. My parents introduced me to them on AMC and Turner classics every Halloween. Just about everything you guys covered in this episode, I had or still have. Including some of the 12inch Sideshow Monsters. But between the Sideshow and NECA figures I don't know if I could choose a favorite🤘
@@Pegwarmers Every once in a while I'll see a sideshow figure I missed back at the beginning, and if the price tags within reason I'll add it to my collection. This episode of peg warmers REALLY sent my nostalgia in2 overload 😀
28:09 In The First Frankenstein by the end of it the Wedding Guests are Toasting To " The House of Frankenstein 3 Times Or So With Drinks In hand. As To Name drop ahead one of the Sequels accidentally ?

It's pretty impressive!
Thank God for the neca creature from the black lagoon. Never got any figures or model kits in my collection. But always wanted a version like this.😂🎃
Yeah, Neca has put out some nice Monsters recently.
Big shout out to the Crestwood Monsters series. I checked out those books out weekly from 3rd to 6th grade!
I loved them! One summer, I got to borrow the Godzilla Volume for the whole break. It was awesome! Read it cover to cover so many times.
I’m loving the current NECA line.
Yeah, it's pretty great.
I'm surprised you guys didn't mention the late 90s burger king figures, they ruled!
Bought those, too! Looked right out of 1960's.
Yeah, there are just so many different releases.

That unpainted Marx Frankenstein is based off of Bela Lugosi's portrayal in the sequels
You should’ve invited James Rolfe after death battle cast

Yeah, it would be fun to do an episode on them someday.
I always appreciated Quasimodo in the universal monsters! Just saying. I wish other “forgotten” monsters were added in future lines
What company is your guys favorite universal monsters toys you guys can each give top five modern and vintage just curious?
I watched this Island earth last year and I am surprised how little in the movie the freaking alien is in it, it's like they were paying the costume actor per second.
A lot of those Monster movies are kind of like that.
How can you guys talk about the monsters and not bring up the TMNT collabs!? All in all this was a great episode Kevin!
If we cover it all perfectly, then we can't revisit the topic!
Sideshow did Dracula (and Igor) in their fifth and final series of Universal Monsters, which was made in much lower numbers than the earlier ones.
We discovered this after the shoot.
Mego, in the last few years, has had some cool throwback looking universal monsters starting with the Bela Lugosi dracula figure. I'm not sure if they are continuing any more monster figures and going full on superhero figures.
I've seen a lot of the Mego stuff.
My favorite incarnations of the Universal Monster toys are definitely the Jada Toys line and the Burger King Kid's Club toys
I should get the Burger King ones.
@Pegwarmers absolutely worth getting the set. Along with the Jack-in-the-box kids meal toys as well
My three favorites from the sideshow Universal Monsters series are Dracula, Igor and the Red Death version of the Phantom.
Now I'm collecting them again 20 yrs later w/the NECA collection.
Are they your favorite because the quality improved as the line went on, or because you like those characters?
