As a clarification: in Japanese culture, it is believed that children can see spirits because their souls have not yet fully solidified. Their souls are considered half-spirits up until the age of 7. When they grow older, their souls solidify and they lose the ability to see spirits. That's why Aira was able to see Acro Silky when she was a little kid and didn't realize she was there when she grew older. Finding the Golden Ball made her able to see spirits again.

I think this is pretty common thinking in many countries… animals can sense things then children. Adults are too busy or jaded or just lose the sensitivity…

To me, as a manga reader, This backstory isn't even the SADDEST one. ;_; we have a long long long way to go before we get to the saddest one that had me sobbing while reading for like, 30 minutes lmfao I can only imagine how bad I'm gonna drown in sorrow when it gets animated. holy shit. There are others that made me cry as well. It's insane how Dandadan is a perfect amalgamation of all the best Genres. It does each one PERFECTLY. the humor, the sadness, the drama, the anger, the romance?? like...All are done exceptionally well. And the anime is perfectly adapting them. There are shot-for-shot comparisons between the anime and manga that I didn't even remember!!! Like...This is my new favorite anime, PERIOD. The vibe of the series as a whole and romance being a big part of it (I'm a shipper girlie at heart lmao) is what I've been WAITING FOR. a show with action but not underestimating and half-assing the romance as a subplot or something that comes out of nowhere. It's a breath of fresh air. And the anime, the music, the direction...The music is so funky and unique...I can tell they did a good job but also HAD FUN doing it. Anyway, nice watch! nice reaction and analysis. :) I'm excited for what's to come

As for your point regarding the romance, we heard that the mangaka was “forced” to read Shoujo romances manga (~100 series) by his editor to get into the proper mindset to write this series. I think I may have mentioned it in the video, but I completely agree. I've yet to watch this episode outside of editing it, which took me longer than usual due to the fact that I kept tearing up during that backstory stretch. It was such a cathartic feeling when Aira stood up and ran towards her mom in that scene. We can only hope that the linking of their auras allows the Silky Acrobat to be carried into the future in some form or fashion. - Twitchy

We love some great lore in storytelling, hence why we both love reading One Piece so much on our respective channels. The manga binge for Undead Unluck was incredible, but I have a sneaking suspicion that Dandadan's manga binge will be an even better experience in some regards. - Twitchy
What is worst than that? Is better not to ask, just keep enjoying this show, with some you will feel emotional connection, some other is just pure anger, some you may not feel half as heartbreaking, but it is not only about the backstories, this manga/anime really has it all.
Yeah, that was more of a hypothetical question from Vonte, but I get what he meant. I've seen the "dancing in the rain" panel before and knew that it was related to a depressing backstory from this series. Thankfully we don't have to wait until S2 to get more since we're hopping into the manga directly after S1 wraps up next month. 😈 - Twitchy

Good question about where Yokais and Aliens correlate, episode 9 will address partially the question, but oh boy, this is a vast universe/lore.
