Thank you all for watching and commenting, had a chance to test this lens on a surf trip, bouncing around in a small boat in huge surf shooting handheld at 600mm and stoked to say it performed superbly...loving this beast :)
Man Just got my lens today was SO lucky to pick it up in stores today! had only about an hour to play but. Great Bang for the Buck guys! & great review! seems pretty sharp!
Picked up mine over a month ago and love it. For nature and sports work its great. The size is a big heavy for hand work but a mono or tripod works well with it. Top Marks and VERY QUICK lens
Tamron has an amazing VC. In my opinion far better than Canon's IS. This lens looks like just the ticket for my outdoor photography. The slower aperture won't be an issue with the VC either. Thanks for the great review.
Thank you for the great video review of this lens, Adam! I'm shopping around for a super tele, and this was very helpful. And Reef is friggin' adorable.
Thank you for your review. Viewed the lenses in action on the weekend on a canon and the results were really good. I will have the Nikon version in the next couple of weeks. Thank you. Just seen it in action on the weekend and aprciate your time to review.Thank you. Just seen it in action on the weekend and aprciate your time to review.
Adam Lewis thank you for the review .. i pick up this lens for my A99. i love it. focus is fast at any Fstop . i feel like its a little soft F5 and f6.3 . but not bad for its price . F8 is sharp and I'm happy there. i took it out side on tripod. took some picture of the nebula. in Orion hilt 1 sec shutter iso 100 . I'm very happy with it .
Hi, looking for a zoom to go with the Nikon D7100 and 18-140. This looks like it may be the choice. I love aircraft photography and wildlife. may have a look at some stock cars etc as well. Thanks for the review
Did anyone see like a little seal around 5.43-45 mins in the water? Great review and not too bad a price for back then? I have a few bridge cameras and they could take pretty decent pics like these too. Just a thought..
Thanks Adam a great practical review, you mentioned using it on a D800 your thoughts on this combination would be appreciated. I am looking for a long lens to take to Africa at a reasonable price, the Nikon 80 - 400 is a little pricey for a lens that will not be used alot. Thanks.
Thanks for the review. Nice job and am thinking on adding this lens to my arsenal. I shoot with a Nikon D700, which I think will do a great job with regards to using this lens.
Reef is absolutely adorable!!! Yeah and the lens is nice too. Mine should arrive in week. I was a bit reconciled with the lower sharpness at 600 mm that I kept hearing about everywhere, but these images look great. I know its F/8-ish but still.
Quick, really stupid question here. I noticed that the lens comes buy itself. What is that attachment you have on the end of your lens and is it necessary for a lens of this size?
Thinking of adding this lens for wildlife usage, on a Nikon D750, which should work well with the low light capability of this particular camera. I'm hoping it would be a good 'bird' lens as well, and I understand the Tamron is a fair bit lighter than the Sigma 150-600. I am wondering if you've tried using a teleconverter with this Tamron lens, and although one would have to have good light for this senerio, it would be a good test to perform to see if much of the sharpness is lost. Thanks for the video!
It's great to see one of these in the wild for Nikon finally! I would love to hear (or see samples) of how it does on the D800. I'm curious how a nice, but not "pro" focused lens feeds that sensor.
Hi A.Mills, thanks for watching the video and taking the time to comment. The lens resolves really well on the D800, but as you probably know the D800 suffers from any kind of hand shake pretty bad, so I am thinking monopod os a must :)
A. Mills here is a shot i took with the d800 and the the tamron, hand held 600mm 1/250th I think at f8 facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=673570352690770&set=a.673570346024104.1073741875.100001134340189&type=3&theater
Hi Ann, As long as you have decent light the lens will help you get the shot, just be aware that on a prosumer body it may be slow to focus and need more light. today I actually just switched to manual focus and shot a few frames of birds in flight...was really fun :) ... Glad the review helped...happy shooting
Started seeing this lens on the used market a fair bit for around $300-350 and im pretty tempted even if i do not have to much of a need for it. Cause at that used price i can almost motivate buying it just for fun. ;)
Thanks a lot for a great video review i have been thinking about buying it for my trip to Thailand next year but i don't know if it is worth the money since i am using a Nikon D3200, and i was thinking you may be able to cast some light on it for me, i have also been thinking about the SIGMA Objektiv 150-500mm f/5-6,3 DG APO OS HSM but again i am only an amateur so i really don't know what to pick. My Nikon has a Tamron 18-270mm f3,5-6,3 on now
I shoot with Tamron for 2 years now. It is a great lens until I got the Sigma 500mm f4.5 EX HSM prime from ebay ($1600 excellent condition used one). Now I shoot with Sigma prime exclusively, see my videos for details.
@@BluePacificMedia Yup, first and still only grizzlies in the wild experience for me. Plus, you take a little four-seater float plane to get there (also a first for me). All in all a very memorable day.
For budget consumers, I need a telephoto lense for my Nikon DSLR 5100 model. Which one would you pick between an Opteka 500mm Telephoto lense or Opteka 500mm Mirror Lense if both were the same price $95 USD?
SOLD! This would be ideal for morning to midday shots on a D7100 so the ISO doesn't have to bumped up so much. For night shots and wanting to get closer pics of the moon, Im sure this lens with the D7100 will still perform great as well. Any chance you get take a shot of the moon and upload it?
jason24cf Great lens for that for sure, had the chance to really test this lens on my surf trip, shooting hand held from a small boat bouncing around in big waves and still so many keepers :)
What do you think of this lens paired with a Canon Rebel XS? I wouldn't shoot anything indoors with this, only wildlife and maybe some telephoto landscapes. I ask this question because the Rebel XS doesn't have the best ISO performance, in fact, 800 is the absolute maximum ISO for a usable photograph. Do you think the f6.3 will be pushing it at ISO800 for outdoor shots on a crop sensor? Thanks, and great video!
I am thinking about buying this lens for surf/soccer photography and i was wondering if the nikon d7100 would be a good body to use the lens with, I will also be shooting off a monopod. Or should i think about upgrading my body before i purchase this lens?

The D5500 is good in low light/high ISO. I think his point is because of the slower aperture, it's not recommended on an older crop body like the D5000 or D7000 which suck in low light/high ISO. In good light, it will do well on any body. If it's overcast, not so much. At 600mm, the max aperture is 5.6. A 70-200 f2.8 lets in 40x more light at 2.8 than a lens at 5.6. That's a lot of light!

TheMONKEYMAN827 Yes.

Camilo Atehortua yes, if you have a big enough space it will give great compression and is very sharp, but I would prefer the 70-200 2.8 in that case.

Nope tack sharp.
Adam Lewis its probably the youtube upload quality.
It looks VERY SOFT if you're on 480p mode. but once you crank to 720p.. you see its clearly sharp.
Yeah youtube isn't the best way to pixel peep :)
i cant find this lens in my country norway yet not even canon i own the d800 so i have to stick whit my trusty sigma 150-500mm
So not recommended on a d5500 outdoors then
The D5500 is good in low light/high ISO.
TY 👌

very sharp ? compare with sigma and canon it is not sharp

hi how does ths compare to a sigma 150-500 or sigma 150-600 thanks
