    EDIT:
    1. I messed up with the shutter speed numbers, longest I’ve ever shot handheld at was one second not two.
    2. The lens material is actually aluminum and an unknown plastic material. But note that the barrel is all aluminum.
    I hope I did not mislead anyone!

    Excellent review. Great examples, terrific photos. I am considering this lens for travels (if they happen) in the summer of '21. I like the points you made about the weight, weather sealing, and sharpness of the lens.(plus other nice features) I'm going to locate your review of the 3 lenses in comparison. Great job. Thank you for your efforts in putting this brief but informative review together. Happy New Year, 2021!

    Very nice review, I have to thank you . I have a gen 1 and can't never get really sharp images until you mentioned that you shoot at F8. I tried and found a great improvement in sharpness. No one ever mentioned that little bit of information and believe me I search so thank you , I can use it again along with my 100-400 which is my preferred lens for hiking !!!!!

    Thanks for the enjoyable and illuminating video. I purchased the Tamron G2 150-600mm in 2019 at the same time I bought the Z7 47 megapixel Nikon camera. I photograph sports events on the beach and the results with the camera and lens (with some tweaking in my PC photo program) are very impressive.

    I really like my Tamron 150-600 G2. It has good weather sealing, price, and performance. I use it for birding and airshows. My only complaints for the lens: I've had to go chasing after the hood more than once when it brushed against my leg because it doesn't "lock" in place well. I've also had the switches change when then they get lightly bumped on a pantleg. I didn't have these issues with my Sigma 150-500 as the switches and lens hood were stiffer in operation. I can say that 2 pieces of gaff tape fix these issues, and it's not like the switches and hood are loose, just more susceptible to bumps. It's still a good buy and I chose it over the Sigma Contemporary and Sport, and the Nikon 200-500.

    I have an r5 this lens and an 80d... Was thinking about the 32.5 aps-c sensor. I am keeping a DSLR for the quickness and i like an aps-c for the reach, but with the r5 now, the 80d only gives me about 1000 more horizontal pixels in the center of the frame than cropping the r5, where the 90d would give me about 2k more horizontal pixels in the same 22x14mm....

    I just bought this lens fro Milford camera because of your review. Question for you - what camera bag will go well with this ? and I want to keep the lens attached because I won't have time or a good place to switch out lenses on this cruise I'm going on.

    • @tomaskoeck
      @tomaskoeck  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a tough question because the lens is so large! The atlas pack is the only one I know I’d that you can customize to fit. Maybe give Milford Photo a call, they might have something in stock

      I believe the Tamron g2 to be a bit more versatile, has sharper results at the center while the sigma has sharper results at the edge. You should check out my comparison of the Sigma Sport vs the Tamron vs canon

    I bought one recently second hand in excellent condition for $900AUD. I'm still getting used to it but it's a great bit of kit. I've got it on a 5DMk3 and pretty much always have a CPL on it and it's superb. Bargain.

      Hey there! So the sigma C is a bit softer in the middle while the Tamron is softer on the edges (of so I’ve heard). I did an in depth comparison comparing the Tamron vs the sigma sport vs the canon. You can find it here:
