      Everything is forced and SCRIPT SAID SO. It's as bad as The Punisher series! Do American Vandal instead, that was funny and clever and surprising and fun! Don't bother with MINDHUNTER unless you are in a derpy mood.

    • @missnoncompliant6279

      Define "good". I guess it was good if you mean Holden, Tench and the interviews and ignore the way they shoehorned in useless side characters that's only function was to try and derail the story and the bad editing. We won't mention the ham-fisted way they did social commentary about white men evil, white women victim narrative.
      Hopefully next season they'll interview at least ONE of the thousands of female serial killers/murderers.
      Since the show is mostly about mental illness I'll even settle for one episode of maternal filicide. But I wouldn't hold my breath.

      If you can make it past the first episode the characters will start to grow on you later in the show and it's really the interviews with the killers that drives the show. I didn't enjoy it at the start either but the Holden and Tench both grew on me and boy does the show get good towards the last 3 or so eps!!!

But today, being a Star Wars fan and having the perspective of an adult on this movie, well, I realize how terrible it is. Yet, it reminds me of my grandparents and for that I cannot shit on it too much.

      @cjaiezza 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lukematthews6145 However we can fit these into the canon works for me. It seems such a waste to not have them canon. George had a hand in making both of these movies. So they're canon to me.

      These things were cute, and mostly harmless (at least in the U.S. in the early '80s, where we saw them for free on TV when they first aired!) For the first one, my poor mother watched it with me and my younger brother and sister, and for the second one, I was just old enough to babysit my brother and sister with this movie to keep them out of trouble while my parents went to a rock concert together (The Kinks? The Rolling Stones? Billy Squier?) Mom had fixed up some TV-Dinners for the first one, and I popped up some Jiffy-Pop for the second so many months later, and the movies kept everyone more or less enchanted for a couple hours for those two nights, and the movies worked sort of like bedtime stories to keep us amused after dark until bedtime.
      The stuff that "didn't make sense" to the reviewer here was kind of standard-issue for '80s fantasy: the likes of The Dark Crystal, Willow, Ladyhawke, the Beastmaster, the Conan and Red Sonja movies, Legend, Labyrinth, The Never-Ending Story, Krull, and so on were loaded with weird, magical non-sequiturs, and nobody in the '80s seemed to think anything of it.
      The Ewok movies were (at least to me at the time) cut from the same sort of cloth as some of the more kid-friendly examples of '80s fantasy: the stories were a little cheesier and less ambitious than average and the Star Wars theme was obviously shoe-horned into two unrelated stories that were probably not written for the franchise (with Ewoks replacing whatever completely different Hobbit-expies or Gelfling-alikes were originally intended for the scripts), but the special effects, though low-budget compared to the theatrical Star Wars films, were pretty good for fantasy TV-movies, and the results were just well-paced and immersive enough to keep everyone awake and involved (with the help of familiar Star Wars characters, sound effects, etc.) until bedtime, without getting everyone TOO excited.
      Really, I think the Ewoks seem to have gone over better with really young kids back in the '80s than the seem to have for later generations: I was perfectly fine with them when these movies aired (I was about age 11), my brother could take them or leave them, my sister adored them... I don't remember anything like the ill-will that younger generations seem to have for them. On one hand, it's like a lot of things took a turn for the darker-and-edgier and more cynical since then, and on the other, with the Star Wars franchise still being new to us, we didn't really hold the whole thing up to as high an untouchable status as 30-40 years of nostalgia has conferred upon the franchise - even if the Ewoks weren't your cup of tea, they were just sort of tolerated, rather than "hate-sinks" for "nearly ruining otherwise cinematic perfection" or whatever it is that sets the younger people off about them.
      These movies in particular weren't the best the franchise had to offer - even at the time, my brother and I were old enough to realize that. Still, we were also also old enough to realize that seeing a couple harmless little Star Wars-themed fantasy movies between bigger theatrical movies was still a treat, even if it wasn't a big on, and we never held that against the Ewok movies.
      And I, at least, was also old enough to remember that the Ewok movies were tons better and more well-intentioned and well-crafted than the completely bankrupt and off-putting Holiday Special a few years before - even at age 5 or 6 I knew that one was a stinker, and remembered it only as a weird fever dream-like experience that every other kid I knew thought I was imagining for years until the internet refreshed some memories! "No, seriously, there was another Star Wars movie, I saw it back in the 70s, they went to Chewbacca's home planet, there was a creepy ceremony, and baby Chewbacca almost fell out of a tree... and that's all I really remember about it, except that it wasn't good, in fact, it was terrible!" "Man, I'm telling you, that was that Ewok movie!" "No, there were TWO of those, and they were NOT the same thing - those were pretty good! This was yet ANOTHER Star Wars movie - you gotta believe me!" Thank you Internet for rediscovering the Holiday Special - it was even worse than I remembered, but it's good to know that I, at least, wasn't responsible for making it up!

    I always felt that these movies took place after Return of the Jedi and Not before. For one thing Wicket was bigger in this movie than in Jedi (Warwick Davis was 15 in the TV movies and 11 when he did Jedi) Also in the Previous film , Caravan of Courage, The Ewoks sorta knew about Humans or acted like they knew of them.
