    1:48 "Because he likes comic books, he gets bullied at school!"
    Well yeah dude. This isn't the 2010s where its cool to be a nerd. Back then in the 90s, if you so much as played video games, watched anime, read comic books, basically did anything that wasn't football, wrestling, or some type of combat sport, you were bullied lol. That was a real time period.

      @@Raiders-wm5kb Hey, I don't blame you. Guyver and Spawn were some pretty cool looking movies. Especially Guyver. Is it any wonder why there was a version with Mark Hamill, of all people? And I loved the 1997 Spawn movie as a kid. Spawn looked awesome. And John Leguizamo as The Violater, (a total Joker wannabe), was some incredibly funny casting, and he had some good jokes, and Spawn was a badass. I thought they did a good job on the movie when I was a kid. I can't really see it as bad, but maybe that's just my nostalgia talking. But although I haven't seen any of the Guyver movies, especially the Mark Hamill version. But I absolutely love the concept of it. I know it's been around since the 70's, but that's 2 decades before my time. Never played the Spawn game because I never had a ps1. It was too expensive. We did have an N64, but I didn't mind. I loved the n64. It was my very first game console, from my late grandma, and I never forgot that. If it weren't for her giving me the n64, I may never have gotten into gaming itself. So I'm always thankful to her for that. I wanted to play Spawn in Soulcalibur 2 for the Xbox, but we didn't have one yet. That's also the only version of SC2 I've never played. I've never played any Spawn games, but I still like the character. Spawn has always been a badass, and always will be, to me. Despite me never having played any games of his or reading the comics, again, sorry. But I am a fan of Spawn because of that one movie, and all of the awesome scenes in that movie I remember as a kid. I know it's not as good as I thought it was back then; but the dude who played Spawn back then was amazing as Spawn. He was like, Wesley Snipes in Blade levels of cool. I think his name's Michael Jai White; or something? Cool performance either way. Sorry for the long rants here though. But I just had good memories of the 90's Spawn movie.

    To be fair, the "punching back" philosophy works more often than the "turn the other cheek" philosophy, it worked for me at least, I didn't became friends with the guy, but he didn't mess with me anymore

    • @Borderose
      @Borderose 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      That's true. "Turning the other cheek" just infuriates the bully more. They see it as an insult or a form of disrespect and dishonesty. That you don't think they're worthy of you being honest with your feelings about them. That you think you're better than them. You become a subject of their contempt. So they get meaner. They choose to be more deliberate in their abuse.
      Punching them back in the face works better because it relaxes their guard around you and sends a clear message that pain is paid back in pain. Bullies fear getting hurt more than they love hurting you. And punching them brings you to the same level as they are--which ironically makes them more open to talks and with less need to beat around the bush. I punched a kid and threw a desk at him once. We've been friends ever since.

    • @LastBastian
      @LastBastian 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Most of my best friends in grade school only became my friends *after* we had physically fought. At that age, I think we respected each other more after a good fight. Bottled up tension, emotions, childish insecurities are released. And we got along after
      ...now kids just bottle all that shit up with no release, and wind up shooting up their school or something instead.

    • @jamestaylor5995
      @jamestaylor5995 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Bullies are cowards at heart.
      I had two bullies in school. One in Jr High and one in HS. After months of turning the other cheek, punching them both in the face and announcing I wasn't taking any more of it without a fight every time ended the bullying, and turned us into friends. Not best friends, but no longer enemies.
      After the second bully, I never backed down again from any bully. The best thing to do is stand up to them right at the start and let them know you aren't going to take their crap.

    I feel like the punching your bully argument was a way for Chris to vent about some awkward childhood experience

    • @zackwick603
      @zackwick603 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I would agree with you on that. Unfortunately I think Chris was a kid who was too afraid to stand up for himself or he was given bad lessons on letting bullies physically push him around. Parents of Millennials had a weird thing where if a bully started punching a kid and the kid fought back then the kid who fought back (the victim) would get suspended or detention.

    Joe was such an underrated actor. His performances in JP, The Cure and Simon Birch proved he was great actor. His talent was wasted on this turd of a movie.

    Re: "To earn my bully's respect, I need to punch him in the face"
    I actually kindof did this in middle school in the 90s. I stabbed my bully in the arm with with a pencil, and got suspended for a week. I didn't notice at the time, but in hindsight years later, I realized that this was EXACTLY why I didn't get bullied for the rest of school. The cowardly asshole bullies were too afraid to get stabbed, so they left me alone, despite being a nearly-friendless, fat nerd.
    Moral of the story: bullies are cowards who only pick on the weak. Make them think you aren't weak, and they'll go after someone else.

    • @Axolotl_Mischief
      @Axolotl_Mischief 3 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      Same happened to me. Once you beat the shit out of a bully infront of the entire school, people tend to leave you alone.
