Lol 2 things....the landing gear has high and low speed depending on if the handle is pushed in or pulled out. You only use low if you need to raise or lower a loaded trailer.
And the fifth wheel was back on that tractor because the landing gear will crush the mud flap hangers if you are pulling a pup trailer with a tandem tractor.
That's too much for her to understand..
this was fun to watch! i miss the hustle and bustle of the day. i’m sure some people hate it but i miss it a lot. i can’t wait to get off the road

This is really encouraging I’m a line haul/ shuttle driver for fed ex freight and I’m mad bored and pays not really good. Only way to make money is if u have a big run with miles otherwise I stuck at the bottom for years being a traveling dock worker driving forklifts. The work is easy but waste of time in my opinion. I’ve been thinking about coming to foodservice. I miss fast paced work and I kno the pay is good. Freight side sucks fr
Just came across your channel a coupla days ago and I just wanted to give you props for the hard work you do. I worked at Prairie Farms a couple of years ago for a year and a half. Granted, I delivered dairy products, but I know first hand how physical your job can be. It's for sure, not a job for people that are lazy or weak! Girl, they slid that fifth wheel to prevent jackknifing in tight parking lots. It's a must with the tiny trailers you folks have over there at US Foods.

Hey girl, so I used to work at (PFG) performance food group in Springfield, Ma as a driver for two years so I know your struggle lol it’s real! My route was in Boston, Ma and it was a bi**h lol I sucked sooo bad but I had to quit because my back was just taking a beating. But yea just keep Vloging, it’s so good to see the going’s on from a different view.

They got a cdl training program. Right now I do food service delivery. I gotta pick my own product, load it, and deliver it.. We drive amaller straight trucks that fit 6 to 8 pallets... Not the case. You don't know who is picking up the next trailer sometimes and if he/she has a taller tractor and can't dump the air low enough, they can't hook to the trailer without trying to raise the trailer with the landing gear.
Try raising a max load with the landing gear too low and you will know what I mean.

Next truck comes in lower than truck before. Now what genius.? Crank it fkn down to hook up.
Been out here 15 yrs and 2 million fkn miles.
The way I fkn stated is the proper fkn way.

If you could go out on the floor and the cold storage and dock areas that would be cool. My brother drives a refer and I have never seen those areas I've scene the yard the trucks and shop for the trucks but thats all. Keep up the good job.

Yea we do, but it’s more of a pain in the ass because only one van can fit at a time so it takes much longer. But better than getting soaking wet lol

That’s just too much BS to have to load your own vans. Worked at Fleming Companies in 1998, and never had to break down pallets and load the trailer.
I was a Us Foods driver out of Corona,Ca I did food service about 12 yrs between being a Sygma driver a Sysco driver and a Golden State Foods driver I ran hard and fast for these companies always running at malls ,jails,casinos and dark stores with keys and alarms now because of the ramp running up and down I have bad knees with Arthritis I don’t miss the hand truck days in fact I go by all my stores I delivered and remember each ones problems lol now I just drive make bigger money and learned been a driver 25 yrs now and still love it good luck to you that work isn’t for all drivers. In fact if you done food service it makes you a better driver cause you know what real work is lol

In is for low gear on landing gear, incase u gotta lift up a loaded trailer to get under it. Or lower it. But seems u have air ride tractors, so if trailer is to low, u dump air in tractor to get under it, then air up tractor

Those 2 fec hub boxes use to work for fec up in Jax fl. Good place to work those guys are owner operators. They started pulling those about 2 yrs ago.
How long did u stay with someone when u first got hired to get trained. Was there training program good ?
I was with Werner for one year OTR and I trained for about a month. It was good but you really learn the most when you get out on your own

Lap and pal by the way it will save you from ever unhooking air lines and pulling the pin without lowering the legs and dropping the trailer on the ground getting you fired or at least laughed at by the guy on the forklift picking the trailer up.. seen guys do it too many times

Man I sure wish we had vans or just did small jobs ...I’ve been with US for 13 years at a drop yard in the panhandle of Florida and have 12 drivers at our yard...we go out with 700 to 900 cases everyday . Dang sure takes its toll...big props to doing the job you are the 1st women delivery driver I’ve seen 👍🏻

Get your endorsements! I just ran 428 miles today in 8.5 hours and made 360$ today. Your better than that food service labor I started as a vendor too 4 years ago leaving that shit behind was the best thing I ever did career wise. Get those endorsements and get on with LTL trust em I’ll even help u if u need advice. I made 118k last year and my wife made 80k with a masters degree! I’m telling you you will enjoy it a lot more I cranked 4 landing gears hooked 4 trailers and got fuel. Easiest shit of my life plug that aux cable up bump music and cruise all day long! I try to tell all the Coca Cola guys I see in gas stations when I stop and they jus laugh at me and say they’re gonna do it and I just say ok bro I feel u but I wasn’t trying to be rude when I say I make in a week what u make in 2 workingover 60 hours. Them dudes just don’t listen I feel bad for them. And to put it in perspective I just looked at my logs I only worked 43 hours this week and grossed 2600.... even at the bottom pay where im at it would be about 1600-1700... I’m tellin ya and every vendor I see save your back and your life get endorsements and do what we got a cdl to do.. DRIVE
4 landing gears and 4 trailers cus doubles 2 on the way there drop em grab 2 more and head home. Easiest money of my life.
First year LTL I made 88k. That same run was 285$ which is still great ass money for the hours.
I drove for Pepsi for a year. I’ll never in my life do touch freight again. I drive a tri axle dump and make more than most local and otr guys + union benefits.

Loading the vans by hand sounds like a waste on man hours. If the people loading the pallets just sort it for you and then you load the pallet on the van seems way more efficient. But hey just saying 🤭 cool video btw not sure why it popped up but i ain’t doing anything Saturday obviously
Lol thanks for watching, but yes it is a waste! We are switching the vans to straights trucks. That way when the guys come in for their route it will be loaded already

What are all the things you have to check in the morning with your truck and trailer before you leave for the day? Do you have a checklist of things that tells you what you have to check for each morning or you just do it by memory? Also who is responsible for cleaning the truck inside and out, like cleaning the windows, vacuuming the interior, washing the exterior of the truck, cleaning out the trailer, etc?
We do the pre trip off the top of our heads. And we have people that come clean the trailers but no one cleans the tractors
