Can you do a pilars of overhead press? I know it's not a contested lift in powerlifting, byt it would be great and probably relevant to people wanting to compete in strongman too. These 5 pilars technique videos are absolutely fantastic

REALLY like these videos. The cues are perfect and easy to visualize and are helping me understand how to properly deadlift with this stance! Thank you!!

What is your take on quads undoing the grip? I use hook grip and find that my fingers get caught on my quads causing me to either claw my legs or to open my grip.

usually adjusting grip width you can find a better spot.that or maybe your arms are too short and conventional would be better option in the long run

I found moving my hands inwards a finger or 2 helps. So they’re actually at (or very slightly inside) shoulder width and then my grip only hits my quads right at the top! Also, I’ve found sumo to be better if you’re not dragging up your quads anyway, ie only touching the bar almost thrusting into it at the top, rather than being in contact the whole time due to a more upright back position. Not a clue on if it’s the best just what I’ve found to be good personally, hope it helps

Your Grip is too wide if you are getting pulling your hands open on sumo. Narrow that Grip and you'll be fine.

How do you initiate the movement with the quads? Im having a hard time figuring that out for some reason.

This contradicts things like what chris duffin says for example. I much prefer to be straightened out then pull myself into the bar, way more consistent imo

Can you explain the hip shoot I see some people do just before they initiate the lift? It looks like they are pumping up their quads or something?

You also see people do that in conventionals. Can be a mental thing as well. As long as your starting position is the same, doesn't really matter

Why one hand under and over? Doesnt that create an imbalance in the body it seems like a crutch to use that technique

Jeff Bonds ammonia possibly (if you don't already use it), but be aware that it will very likely ruin your sense of smell after a while (as far as I know)

So unlike conventional, Sumo is a squat and not hip-hinge? Does this mean Sumo deadlift is not a hip dominant movement?

In the conventional DL Chad explained it very well, the average athlete shouldn't look downwards/upwards too much

"It works for her" is the right answer. Also, looking up helps fire the extensors and posterior chain in general.
