I've been trying to dial my deadlift technique in for years trying not to hurt my back and watching literally hundreds of deadlift videos on TH-cam. First off I usually dont leave comments but after seeing this wonderful explanation of the detailed mechanics that takes place in the deadlift I had to. Awesome!!!
The Pillar series is amazing, love it! So much info broken down into easily digestable peices. As a novice lifter (lifting for just over a year, mostly bobybduilder-ish programming) I've been able to improve my form and technique very quickly after applying the lessons from this series! I decided to give power lifting a try and just got Chad's book and started the Beginner's Powerlifting Program (about to finish week 3 block 1) and am really enjoying it so far. There are quite a few good online places for solid info, science+experience based etc etc, but I could listen to Chad explain training all day or anything really, I just click with his personality, such a cool dude. That goes for Max and Dr. Mike too, great guys! And Thanks Marisa for demonstrating the movements! Finding this channel and Juggernaut was like striking gold! Love all the content you guys put out, thanks!
When Chad says “if you’re a lifter of a more advanced size” when referring to power lifters like himself... somewhere Mark Bell let out a deafening chuckle and says to himself “you mean fat?!” -haha thanks for the content CWS! JTS and Super Training on TH-cam have the best content on the internet.
Now when I look up Juggernaut Deadlift, Juggernaut Deadpool comes up first and I go into an X-Men TH-cam rabbit hole before I remember what I was initially looking for.
After all of the deadlift videos I have seen, this is probably the one that sticks because of that simple first movement towards the setup. I was never able to find tension in my hamstrings and just tried the movement and felt them. This will probably help my low back as well. Thank you!
Awesome. I was taught to bend thw knees first and after they touched the bar, then drop the hips. I was wondering why I didn't feel a lot of tension in the hamstrings lately. I definitely gonna try this thank you
Quilty stuff my deadlift has improved so much since I started your methods when I was at your seminar you told me not to be as close to the bar it is since that it is easier for me to get into position
Thank you for this! I'm a novice (about 8 months now) and I have really been struggling on feeling the tension in my hamstrings before I initiate the lift and the box drill helped me out so much!
amazing info. even having 700lbs pr i always find extremely usefull watching all those vids. devil is in details, and little tips can make a world of difference. thank you very much.
Good advice on squatting too much at first lifting. I was doing that recently. It put too mich pressure on the hamstrings because the upper body simply bent forward, not being able to take the weight from the - what became - horizontal position. As the legs raised, the back bent and made it impossible to find enough leverage (?) to lift the bar very high. Basically, I was doing a back arch, head down. from the platform of ham string heavy almost straight legs. No chance!
I'm going to try this next week as although I do get low in the start position and my hips don't rise if I try it your way I should start alot higher and my Deadlift strength is rubbish compared to bench and Squat but my rack pulls are awesome
No bullshit was just looking for a podcast and hit the most savage 360 cabbage patch when I saw the notification for this video #hookgripandconventional
If I stop where right before I lose tension I won't be able to grab the bar with my arms. does this mean I just have to stretch my hamstrings to maybe feel the tension even at a lower stance?
My left forearm is 0.5 inch shorter than my right. Can this hinder technique and progressive overload later on? Can this lead to injury with heavier loads due to uneven distribution of weight?
Typically the exact opposite of what you described is what happens with foot angle. Very straight foot angle is explosive off the floor, but weaker at lockout, while turned out feet may not be as explosive off the floor the are able to effectively use the their glutes and lockout weights rather easily
I can get into a starting position with very vertical shins, but I can lift more with the knee a bit more forward. Especially lift-off is much easier. Is that a technique issue or nothing to worry about?

In all my years of lifting and all the deadlift tutorials I've watched I've never seen the concept explained so well
Thank you
Chad has a very pleasant voice
He's got a face for radio. LoL
Indeed

These videos are just so great. No waste, perfect explanation, immediately applicable information. Outstanding.
I love the Pillar series of vids! Great work Jugg team
Thanks Chad! This is the best explanation of the "hip hinge" I have seen. Much appreciated.
These series have really helped me in the gym, really helps when I reflect
Next series: 5 pillars of bicep curls
MadSupra354 pillar 1: make sure you're in a squat rack. This is crucial.
2. Load up as much as you can curl comfortably to failure in the 6-12 rep range. Now double that weight
Step 3: yell as loud as you can, maybe moan or spit.
4. Don’t use full ROM
5. Bend down then use your legs and back as much as possible while curling up.
AW YEAH PILLARS FOR DEADLIFT BABY
When Chad says “if you’re a lifter of a more advanced size” when referring to power lifters like himself... somewhere Mark Bell let out a deafening chuckle and says to himself “you mean fat?!”

So excited for this series!! 😬😬
one of the best videos on the interent to explain how to position your body and how to hip hinge.
I love this series and how you cut through the fluff to give us principles! Thank you so much.
I'm a lifter of advance sized and this is exactly what I need to help my deadlift set up!
Wider to let your belly drop between your knees. This "hip width" shit does work when you are advanced size.
What amazes me the most is how good she looks for 41. Great video.
Now when I look up Juggernaut Deadlift, Juggernaut Deadpool comes up first and I go into an X-Men TH-cam rabbit hole before I remember what I was initially looking for.
Haha

Can't believe how much quality information there is in this series. Thank you so much! Going to be re watching this a lot. Subscribed
Can't wait to see sumo deadlift pillar 😍
One of the best deadlifters I have ever seen is Candito, not because of how much weight he lifts, but how much he can lift without breaking form.
How are these videos not more liked!? Incredible information.
Best explanation ever for hip hinge. Thanks!
“Advanced size” lmao
Sheamus Addy it should be a jugg shirt
Advanced size and french fries, it's a lifestyle
fat
Quilty stuff my deadlift has improved so much since I started your methods when I was at your seminar you told me not to be as close to the bar it is since that it is easier for me to get into position
Wonderful hip hinge deadlift tutorial. Thank you
I knew it. Deadlift pillar series! Yeah!
Thank you for this! I'm a novice (about 8 months now) and I have really been struggling on feeling the tension in my hamstrings before I initiate the lift and the box drill helped me out so much!
I can't help but smile! Am I the only one who thinks this is absolutely beautiful?
Now I finally get why I see big lifters start with the bar so far away.
amazing info. even having 700lbs pr i always find extremely usefull watching all those vids. devil is in details, and little tips can make a world of difference. thank you very much.
I feel like this video has saved my deadlift.
Great video Chad ! Could you also do a video on the strict standing overhead press ? I know it's not a competition lift but an important lift anyway.
Never thought I could learn so much about lifting technique from cartoon characters. Thanks!
This is great! Thank you for sharing this information!!
Superb series.
wow you guys are on fire
Superb.hip hinge technique...love it
Great content - so much useful information
Hamstring tension throughout the motion - I think this is the key piece of advice here; and 8:30 how you get into your dead-lift stance
I'd be interested in your ideas about keeping a neutral lumbar spine?
Such a good description !
Thanks!
I really needed this, thank you so much
Mark rip 5 step deadlift is pure gold any one can learn to deadlift
Great video. I feel it really helped!
2:09
Chad: "Because of their extreme proportions"
Marissa: "U fukin wot m8"
This is awesome. I'm getting ahead of myself but I definitely wanna see more of these when deadlift is done. Maybe OHP next?
Well done.
just in time for leg day tomorrow, thanks a mil
THIS FEELS A LOT MORE NATURAL AND GIVES ME MORE POWER... AND HELPS TO KEEP MY BACK STRAIGHT AND ENGAGED.... THE HIP HINGE, RATHER THAN SQUATTING DOWN.
potato chips and triceps dips, it's a lifestyle

Love the lady's shoes!
I like this guy. Subscribed
Thanks
Thank u sir I got very nice & perfect knowlad from u

3:01 How is that locked out?
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
when are they making CWS limited edition sperry deadlift shoes?
Isn't the bar supposed to be over midfoot ?
Looks the scene with the mountain and cersei.
Ps Where can I get those loafers?
She has super nice form.
This is so helpful! Do you have anything about a sumo deadlift?
THANK YOU!!! :) VERY, VERY GOOD VIDEO.
I've never thought this one before...
Why there are fives pillar in the technique?
I mean fahves pillar...
Great video! :)
Is it appropriate to see Hip hinge like and RDL then go to shins touching the bar??
Yea that’s fine
Is it okay if i point my toes outward?
Awesome!
Good video
I'm going to try this next week as although I do get low in the start position and my hips don't rise if I try it your way I should start alot higher and my Deadlift strength is rubbish compared to bench and Squat but my rack pulls are awesome
Is Marisa locking her knees at the top?
No bullshit was just looking for a podcast and hit the most savage 360 cabbage patch when I saw the notification for this video #hookgripandconventional
I wonder if Marisa's Adidas shoes would be a good choice for deadlifts?
James Houck I actually pull in wrestling shoes and squat in adidas, but when we filmed I didn’t have my wrasslin shoes
Marisa Inda I like those shoes I think they would be good for deads, I always go barefoot maybe a change will help
How do i know if i have sufficient hip hinge for deadlift?
just awesome.....
If I stop where right before I lose tension I won't be able to grab the bar with my arms. does this mean I just have to stretch my hamstrings to maybe feel the tension even at a lower stance?
My shoulders are too far back and I lean to far back when I start my lift. Any idea?
Surprised to hear George Leeman being mentioned, seeing as he's been a ghost in the powerlifting community for a long time now
h3llraise he’s rich forever off of property investments and also got exposed as a beater and sexual deviant so he’s living his best life in Thailand.
Why is the T in juggernaut not a guy in the split jerk bottom position
Marisa Inda is a kick ass lifter.
Chad, what brand are those boat shoes? looking for some black leather ones too
Sperry's.
How about the sumo deadlift? Are there differences with the pillars when it's sumo or nah?
Whole series coming for Sumo after this.
My left forearm is 0.5 inch shorter than my right. Can this hinder technique and progressive overload later on? Can this lead to injury with heavier loads due to uneven distribution of weight?
Can you, please comment on Mark Rippetoe Deadlift? He teaches that hips should be really high (no hip hinge like in your videos).
Look at all of the best deadlifters in the World (not even the Top 10, like the Top 1000) and you'll see that nobody uses that technique.
Thank you for the reply.

is it ok to use mixed grip? Few comments you will face either bicep tear or muscle imbalance. is it true?
"advanced size" another polite word for overweight people
6:50 that’s no where near 3 inches
Yeah that’s like 10
Well, I'm 6'6" and 270, so i appreciate the advanced size bit lol
Chad, can we get a series like this but for Sumo?
Here ya go: th-cam.com/play/PL1rSl6Pd49Ikzb4AYHQizy9Pho6n6udkn.html
@@JuggernautTrainingSystems well then, maybe my wife is right; i should look a ‘little’ hard next time 🤣💀
He says advanced size like one would have to train to become GIGANTOR 😂
very cool u show this Chad
Hip hinge got it
I can get into a starting position with very vertical shins, but I can lift more with the knee a bit more forward. Especially lift-off is much easier.
Is that a technique issue or nothing to worry about?
Rik Houben sounds like you get the quads more active that way
th3d1sturbed1 Yes, it does feel like that.
is it the same idea of a hip hinge for sumo?
I think they are going to make another series for the sumo deadlift.
The hinge is very important to a proper sumo deadlift
is it normal that i have narow stance on deadlift and wide on squat
and my deadlift stance is narrower than my vertical jump stance for sure but i feel stronger on narrow and can lift more weight
Sounds fine to me.
thank you legend
WHAT ARE THOSE

She looked so nervous !
