As a Coventry / Arsenal fan I can confirm that Gyokores must have been carrying an injury at the end of last season because I remember watching him at the Birmingham game at the end of the season and he looked tired and ineffectual, same at Wembley which I was fortunate enough to get a ticket for. If Hamer had not gone off injured in that final and Vic was at his best Cov would have been in the prem this season.
He definitely has the skill set to thrive at Arsenal and I hope he signs.

The fan base is creating such a big PTSD for the game against UTD. The same nerves were floating before NLD and it certainly affects the team. Our team is so good, please have faith in them. Not overconfident but be positive because Arsenal deserves a win against a team like United. Get over the past.. This is a different team and a different manager

We have a different mentality. We have come of grounds like Etihad and Anfield with points and they are much better ball playing sides than United. We have to win as we have a fully fit squad and they are injury torn plus bad system and manager. It would be a travesty if we fail to win as it also dents our title Hope

Hi from South Africa Charles, thank you for the good work. Although I do agree with you that the price for Victor Gyokores is outrageous, I think he would be great for Arsenal. The fact that he was in the championship, I believe helps him to be able to translate to the premier league. It's a tough league with a lot of games, playing against defenders that would kick all game. Then now he's played at a higher level in Portugal and Europe to show his technical skills. BUT the price is too high.

Hi Charles - great stuff as always. I agree 100% on Gyokeres. If he had been 19 while playing for Coventry and 20 now, it would be totally different. But he will be 26 next month, and will he get better? Just don't know. I really don't know who we will sign this summer. We all expected Declan last summer (although Kai and Raya were total surprises) but will Mikel focus on wide attackers or strikers, a 6 or an 8, all of the above? There are so many names out there and I just get a feeling that we might ALL be blindsided.
Come on you Gunners!!! Finish this wonderful season strong and that means we finish 2nd, so be it.

I think we do need a player like Gyokeres. Yes, Havertz has been good for us up top and given us a different edge. But if we are to push for all trophies next season, Havertz can not be starting every game. It's all about having top-quality depth to not only push our starting 11, but elevate the players they are competing with. It also means when players then come in to the squad, there isnt a drop off in quality. The same applies to Saliba, White, Gabriel, rice, Odegaard and Saka. We need top quality depth adding across the team, as our top players can not remain at their best when being overplayed.

Agree with you on Havertz, Charles. Powerful target man, skilful as a CAM, younger than Eddie Nketiah, only half a season at CF…he’s growing every single game. Give him a full pre season, and why wouldn’t you say that he can become our superstar CF? His finishing will improve - but even now he’s tallying GA for fun. Focus has to be on a wide forward and a project CF in the Kai mould to play no.2

we arsenal fans go through this process where throughout the season we scream for a new striker, then as we near the end of the campaign someone's form picks up, we question whether we need a new ST and complain again months later when we're short of a striker. It happened with Lacazette for numerous seasons and we're facing the same issue now.
Havertz is great for the role, but we can't change how we approach building a strong squad. Should we not sign anyone and Kai picks up a long-term injury next season, we are doomed

I agree with the doubt about Gyokeres playing at Coventry last year. However, look at Nunez too. Two seasons before his switch to Liverpool he played at Almeria. There is a player there in Gyokeres but maybe it took a long time for it to come to fruition. Not for 83 million for sure but the 50 million mark could be interesting

I know what you mean on Gyökeres, Charles. Great season but he turns 26 in less than a month and before now he had only had a couple of decent seasons in the Championship. 17 and 21 Championship goals respectively. What if this season has just been a crazy hot streak? Big gamble to take. The striker market is interesting to me as everyone we could realistically get has at least one question-mark over them. Either injury history or if they'd adapt to the Prem etc. It's why I might go for a younger, up and coming £50m striker rather than gamble £80m to £100m+. Instead I'd spend more on a winger this summer.

Hi Charles , I think Zinny will never play LCM for us because that role is not for Buildup, its for making late runs into the box and setting up goals and assists for the attackers.
Zinny is responsible for playing the pass before the assist so to put him up a line wouldnt make sense to Mikel.
He would more likely be a backup DM for us, but his lack of physicality is what keeps him away from that spot. He pretty much just has to play inverted LB as thats his best position in this current set up. #InsideArsenalExtra

I wonder next time you talk about him, if you could talk a bit about how you’d see the pieces of the squad fitting together… Isak, Havertz, Jesus, Saka, Trossard etc - how do you see the combinations working to expand the options Arteta would actually use. Given that I first took note of Isak when he was at Real Sociadad with Odegaard and then championed him along with Haaland and Shick after Vlahovic turned us down in preference to Juventus, and that I can see why he on occasion evokes memories of Henry, I'm still more inclined to prefer Gyokeres as the Swedish gunman to spearhead our attack.
I think that his all round game is simply better suited to the style of play Arteta has instilled by adding that extra degree of aggression and power going forward to slightly alter and improve our potency in front of goal by being that tiny bit less refined and silky as such so as to be more of a broad sword rather than a rapier or stiletto.
I for one thinks that our manager got his assessment correct in identifying Vlahovic as the ideal striker for his front three and put simply, Gyokeres is the closest in his profile attributes to the big Serbian.
In relation to Havertz, I'm still inclined to think that Arteta sees his best position as a hybrid type attacking midfielder who if part of a box midfield, could prove devastatingly effective at scoring and creating goals in tandem with a more orthodox central striker.

Any fan who’s overconfident going into this Old Trafford game must’ve been in nappies when Nani, Young and co. put 8 past us (I blame that awful blue kit). No way we can underestimate United’s hatred for us. I just wonder whether this a game for Jorginho rather than Partey. Might be an unpopular opinion but I’m not sure Partey gives us as much control when a team comes at us. Can become a bit of a basketball game when he’s making progressive passes which don’t always find their target. Either way, don’t underestimate United!

Hi Charles, do you think Arteta needs to win the Champions League or Premier League to be considered an elite manager? Or does pushing the City machine so hard qualify him as elite anyway?

I don't quite understand how West Ham and Tottenham being in really bad form can be good news for City (those teams probably want to show a reaction as well) but at the same time Man Utd being shambolic is bad news for Arsenal - I also think that Ten Hag and the players have given this season up by this point and the players won't fight for Ten Hag because they know he'll be gone in the summer - plus they are in an injury crisis - if City would play United this weekend we would probably talk about how lucky they are because there has never been a better time to play United - so I really think you're being a bit pessimistic there, Charles 😉

Ref Gyokeres- I don't think we'll go for him. 1 good season in the Portuguese league does not make him automatically the answer at that price. I actually don't think we'll go for a number 9 because there isn't one out their who everybody says is perfect for us. Means we can really strengthen in midfield with Partey leaving, good cover for Saliba, a right winger, and maybe a back up rightback. I think Saka, White, Saliba, and Odegaard must be playing on the red line so many times this season (Viera needs to step up next season for the latter).

Hey Charles. Love the content. Two things; the most important addition this summer is a central midfielder. Someone that can play a holding role. The next question is about a forward, what about Bilipong from the German club he seems to have the pace and similarity to Saca. The third thing I would add is another central defender that can play along the back line. We’ve been very fortunate with injuries to our defenders this year. To bolster the squad I would look there. I’m very interested in the home grown talent for midfield and forwards. I haven’t heard much about the defensive players coming through the academy. Thank you again.

Arsenal are in a different level but when I see them the last two/three games they have been emotional and that is just lack of experience because Arsenal should beat all the teams starting from Totenham one with comfortable and dominating game as they play for wining the league. If you see City they just win comfortable and you don't see any emotions or nerveousness because they have done it many times. That will be the challenge for Arsenal. For example if City drops point, am not sure if Arsenal will win a game after that because of emotions and nervousness to win the title after a long period of time. Even the fans are funny and they don't cheer loud to help them, if I were in the stadium I will cheer them even if they are 2 - 0 down because that is what Arsenal needs right now. You can see Oddegaard telling them to cheer in their last games because the fans were quite.

    I really
Hope we dont buy gyokeres for 100m or what ever inflated price they want. Remember Victor Osimen was the talk of the summer last year, hes still a great striker but Napoli not like last year. I just think its dangerous financially for the club. Sure we got Declan right, but he was in the PL for years. But you spend 100m you need world beaters and Im not sold Gyokeres is. Id much sooner take a risk on two 50m players the clib have been tracking. And im sure we all remember the last player we went to Portugal for and was told hes a phenom, not so much at Arsenal.

Kai is our 9. Let's go for versatile players who can play out wide or up the middle if we need to change it up. Jesus can. Trossard can. And I agree with you that Isak would slot into that picture beautifully. Love your channel Charles. It keeps me informed and connected here in Canada! COYG!

Your mentality is poor and it's why it has taken our club so far to compete at an Elite level. No matter how good Kai is he isn't a pure number 9 and wouldn't start for City or Madrid, or Bayern, and last time I checked, we are aiming to better these teams and win UCL next season. We need a world class striker in Gyokeres or Isak and it would be great to have Kai as a squad player. We need a very strong Bench, the reason City has dominated EPL for years
