I've been an advertising and marketing professional for nearly 30 years and I have to tell you that I have never seen a more rich and concise presentation on brand creation. This is many years of study and about seven texts distilled into a 17-minute video. This is literally all you need to know to develop a successful brand strategy. Actually doing it is another hill to climb... Bravo, sir.

I've been struggling with my niche / message / market fit for years and have spent a small fortune on "courses and experts" to help me, to no avail. I've learned more in binge watching your videos in the last week since finding you then all of them combined. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing your knowledge, insights and passion on this topic 🙏♥️

I would also specifically add "Analyze & Adapt." As in measure data, page views, social media engagement, clicks from newsletter, customer satisfaction etc. Try to integrate that into a dashboard (there are different services for this, like PowerBI etc.) If necessary adapt your strategy.

Anything I've learnt? There are 14 steps of things I've learnt! I'm a motion designer and have been self employed for 6 years now and as you said, I knew a brand wasn't just a logo but not to this u derstanding. This was so valuable and helpful to learn. Inspired to learn a lot more about each point! Really grateful that you made this vid. Thank you.

I am freelance designer exactly at that point of inflection where I have realized I have ignored Brand Strategy completely 🤯 I am honestly scared but I will make adjustments to my game. Question: how do I go about “convincing” clients that Strategy is important. As you say, they normally go for a Brand Guide a the most. Thanks so much, I am officially a fan 👊

Thank you Steven for this valuable guide. I did have a few questions that came to mind after watching this. The first one being, can this be applied to an individual / freelancer offering themselves or do you think something would change ? As a freelancer, I definitely would not have the awareness budget of larger organizations.
When developing the brand collateral, where do I stop ? For example photography, website, brochures, social (YT, IG, FB etc) - because there can be so many touch points potentially.
Finally I wanted to ask about step 3, map your market landscape - you mention a good concept of being different to your competitors, I am in the design and development business and the competition is high, would it be too much to ask to get an example of how would one position themselves as something fresh / unique to their competitors ?
    Thanks !
