How program an NFC chip + NFC Home automation

  • Today we play with "Tap Tag," a special NFC chip designed to stick to the back of your phone to share things with anybody you come into contact with. There are a ton of ways to use Tap Tag and millions of things to share.
    In this video I go over how to program any programmable NFC chip using free apps available in the Apple and Android store.
    I break down how to use "NFC Tools" to easily code an NFC chip using a smartphone to initiate a pop-up to open my Instagram. I also quickly showed me adding my Linktree to Tap Tag since I see that as one of the most beneficial features.
    Next, I talk about smart home automation with an NFC tag. I used "Shortcuts" which comes standard on any iPhone. I quickly programed my phone to respond to Tap Tag and to run a shortcut automation to turn my lights on and off. Again, the possibilities are endless.
    Tap Tags are available for sale here.. taptag.shop
    The light panels you see are available on Amazon here.. amzn.to/2INa6Vw
    We also offer a step-by-step web page guide that breaks down EXACTLY how to encode an NFC tag with pictures and text for those slower learners out there.
    taptag.shop/pages/how-to-program
    We recently made another video breaking down how to program an NFC business card

    Hi, great video! I was just wondering how the shortcuts app (or probably tasker since I'm gonna use an android) finds my smart home devices? Does it do it on their own or do they pair with another app, like the google assistant app or alexa for example?

    • @ThatDroneGuyTy

      So on iPhones the smart devices would have to be found via the HomeKit app first to work properly. I’m not too familiar with android but I imagine it works the same? Is there a default android app that controls smart home things?

    With the first part (visiting a link) - does this programme the actual tag, so that anyone's phone will react in the same way, or is it only programming your phone to do the action.
    For example, I'm thinking of sticking some onto envelopes that I post out so that people can tap them and be taken to my website. Would this work on the recipient's phone? I thought about using QR codes, but this seems simpler for the recipient.

    • @ThatDroneGuyTy
      @ThatDroneGuyTy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes the tag itself is programmed with the information so everyones phone will react the same way. The only thing is QR codes work with every single smartphone that exists while NFC tags currently work with 94% of smartphones that exist. Tap Tag offers custom bulk orders so you can print your QR onto the tag along with being able to tap it, this offers a tech-y coolness to your product. Hope that helps!

    • @ThatDroneGuyTy

      Yes! You can do as many as you’d like! The initial setup takes about 90 seconds, then all you do is repeat the last step of hitting “write” over and over again taking about 10 seconds each after that. 100 tags should take about 15 minutes to get through with this app, or you can buy a desktop NFC writer on Amazon for $25 and that will shave 10 mins off the process

    • @ultimatefrisbeehq876
      @ultimatefrisbeehq876 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alright there are a few things we can troubleshoot. First off, if you have an android phone you may have to turn NFC on in settings beforehand. If you have an Apple it should scan automatically, however if you have an iPhone X (2017) or older swipe up from bottom of phone or down from top right corner to show your quick wifi, bluetooth, flashlight settings. You'll see near your flashlight/calculator area a wifi-looking symbol. This is the NFC button for older phones that don't have NFC permanently turned on, you'll have to hit that to read the tag.
      If that does not work, then maybe using the "contact" portion of the app does not work correctly (some I found don't work like they should and can't be read by all phones like the "wifi" and "location" options). Maybe try using linktree.com to upload your contact info and then encode the link tree link into the tag? Let me know if this helped at all

      So good news and bad news. The answer to your question is yes BUT only if you and your friends have android phones. You are able to program the tag with your WiFi username/password with both Apple and android, but only android will connect to WiFi when tapped with no app required, the iPhone won’t even sense the tag as Apple does not allow rogue WiFi connections for security purposes. An Apple phone can detect the tag using an NFC-detecting app but still will not connect, the app will just tell the phone the credentials programmed onto the tag.
