You're right about Roy's sister. She is the doctor who treated Dr. Fieldstone.
And she is proper fit.
@@SilentBob731 is that you Jamie? 😂😂
@@fayesouthall6604 “Coach, I’m me. Why would I want to be anything else?”
Which we're not 100% sure about til season 3.
@@Wizardofgosz Oh yeah, guess that was a teeny-tiny spoiler technically.
She's still proper fit though, in'she?
If you re-watch the scene where Roy hugs Jamie, watch Jamie just as Roy starts to embrace him - he flinches. Jamie’s only had abuse from his father figures - it’s heartbreaking once you see it. Some fine acting. ❤️🩹
"I think she's 2 years younger than whatever she is." is the MOST intelligent and tactful answer in the history of the world. Wise men become wise old men. I just generally flame out into smoking cinder, approaching my sell 'by date'. Kudos!
Such a fantastic episode. And Roy being the one to embrace Jamie after the incident with his dad is absolutely perfect.
I've watched a lot of reactions to this show and you are the only one who I have ever seen make the connection about Roy's sister the first time. Well done! Most don't even notice when it is revealed in season three. Very impressive!
All credit to Damo for that one! Great spot!
Roy's sister is a doctor at A&E. In fact, she is the one who treated Doctor Fieldstone when she got hit on her bike.
Yes, the doctor was Roy's sister. She shows back up in season 3.
We’ve almost finished season 3 on Patreon, we’ve seen her again 😀
@@DNReacts "Your sister is fit."
1. The speech/scene Ted gives the team in Wembley is reminiscent of the speech Gene Hackman gives his team in “Hoosiers”
2. According to the laws of the game, Law 1 Section 3
Law 1 Sec 3. Dimensions
The touchline must be longer than the goal-line.
Length (touchline):
minimum 90m (100yds)
maximum 120m (130yds)
Length (goal-line):
minimum 45m (50yds)
maximum 90m (100yds)
Competitions may determine the length of the goal-line and touchline within the above dimensions.
So, it’s possible to have a “nearly” square pitch.
These episodes are the best thing about Mondays.
Thank you so much! That means a lot ❤️
It is fun watching you watch. When a line grabs you, takes you by surprise, and you both burst out laughing, it is the best reminder how masterfully crafted and written this show is. It is SO good! ⚽️👨🏻
The reason Ted reminds Beard that it’s his turn to get coffee the next day is because of his father’s death. He’s not being weird or insensitive. Even something as small as knowing you have to get coffee can be enough of a reason for people to not commit su!cide when they’re in the wrong headspace, and Beard looked not like his normal self. Knowing that someone’s counting on you can be really powerful
Memory loss is a common feature of concussions. In the 1980s, before formal protocol was a feature of sports, I was badly concussed in a football (🏈) game. I played the entire game after the collision, and have no memory of it at all.
I came back to conscious awareness on the bus ride back from the stadium. Given that everyone was happy and singing the school song, I could tell we had won, but I had to ask for the final score.
As for rest afterward, concussion patients should definitely stay awake for several hours after the initial injury. Not knowing I was concussed, I went to sleep that evening as usual. In later years, I was informed that I was fortunate to wake up.
I read recently that it's actually not that dangerous for concussion patients to sleep according to newer research and in fact the brain can use the sleep to heal a bit already.
But I am no doctor.
You already told this story
Recently, Joe Burrow admitted that he had played a game(or more) that he didn't remember due to concussion. Its why they make a big(ger) deal of concussions in the NFL due to growing number of players who have developed CTE, and has caused them to be have bouts of anger and rage, and some have completed Suicide to the severity of the symptoms.
@@Knightowl1980
Had no clue I was so memorable. I'm flattered. Have a nice day.
@@Knightowl1980Wow. That was brutal…. And EXCELLENT! Well done.
Jamie and Roy's relationship is one of my favorite parts of the show.
You’re right that was Roy’s sister. We see her again later.
This is probably my favorite episode of the series
The bit about the field being the same size is from the movie Hoosiers where a small town high school basketball team makes the state championship and the coach measures the hoop in front of the team to prove they’re playing the same game as always.
8:50 The speech Ted's trying to give here is from the movie Hoosiers which is a movie about basketball. Highly recommend that you watch it. It is a really good movie.
Boys ready yourselves for the next episode. It's probably my favorite in the whole series. Absolutely bonkers!
That's funny because 2x9 is _by far_ my least favorite episode of all three seasons. Aside from the scene with the recurring fans from the pub, I really didn't enjoy a single thing about the entire episode. But I'm glad some people like it. Honestly.
@@theadamabrams I totally agree. Episode is pretentiously weird. Only one I can’t watch again.
@@colinkaak9874 I find it hilarious, I watched it at least 3 times as well as select scenes here and there
Excited for next episode lads. Some people love it some people dont. But it is different so im excited for you to watch it
We’ve seen it as we are really far ahead on our Patreon! Hope you enjoy it!
The color looks so much better in your videos well done editing thank you very much. Outstanding commentary as usual, making me laugh.
You are correct. The doctor is Roy's sister
Thank you 🙏🏼
I've seen this episode several times and never once made the connection that that is Roy's sister. Google confirms. Good sleuthing, fellas.
Damo was on the money with that one!
I watch a lot of reaction videos, and yours is the only one that I watch complete intros and summaries of. Working my way through the library. 😊
That’s a massive compliment! Thank you 🙏🏼
Laughed when Damo said he didn’t like the show already. Surprisingly I cried twice watching, once when Dr Sharon was in the accident and once when Roy hugged Jamie. Surprisingly an emotional episode. Maybe I need a therapist too 😙.
It’s definitely a touching episode! Haha maybe we all do 😂
@@DNReacts 🤣 ♥️
To add on to the concussion stuff other people have said: I got elbowed in the face playing basketball in high school and got a concussion ( I think I maybe also fell because of that and hit my head?). I don't remember most of that day, I was told later they had to cut the lock off my locker because I couldn't get it open. One of my teachers apparently was the one to take me to the school nurse because I was acting strangely in class.
Roy's sister was the doctor shown earlier in the episode, good catch.
Thank you 😀
When I said Jamie's dad was the character I liked the least, this episode is why.
Was concussed in a motor racing accident as a clubman here in the US. Tightening radius right-hander , outside lower ball joint sheared, ended up in the fence. Half 'endo', and three rolls. Made the mistake of refusing treatment at Medical. I've been told I drove home from Charlotte NC to Atlanta GA..one vague memory of the destroyed car on my buddy's trailer. That's it. Even a small brain injury changes who you are and what you do.
Still my favorite day of the week! Thanks again gents!
Thanks for being here ❤️
Having a great time watching with you two!
Thank you so much!
Oh yeah, a reminder / case you were unaware. Apple wanted more episodes this season so the X-mas and next episode were added after the show was ready for season 2. They are what the industry calls a "Bottle Episode." No furthering the plot, only character development.
Yeah we have only 2 episodes left of season 3 on our Patreon so we know all about the filler episodes 😊 appreciate the comment!
That's not what "bottle episode" means. Those generally use pre-existing sets and main cast (to save money), which 2x04 and 2x09 _don't._ Some bottle episodes do progress the plot and some don't; that's kind of irrelevant.
@@theadamabrams Bottle episodes have also been used for dramatic effect, with the limited setting and cast allowing for a slower pace and deeper exploration of character traits and motives.
The actor who played Dr. Fieldstone had to learn how to ride a bike for this role.
I’ve had a concussion memories get blurry. Thought I was back at school on a Monday after sustaining a concussion on a Friday. Turned out I was out of school for two weeks. Also loud sounds and bright lights give you huge migraines for weeks
Hard relate, just seen this and posted my experience on the thread - also at school. Unpleasant. Hope you are well now.
@@wozzablog thanks man it sucks hope your doing well I’ll make sure to read it
You can definitely lose memory after a concussion. I've been concussed at least 3 times (I played high school American football in the 80s when a concussion was a badge of honor not a problem lol so truth is there might have been more and we didnt't consider it worth mentioning). But my third one i actually had a reaction to a shot in a doctor's office and the doc had turned his back, i blacked out and fell off the exam table and hit face first on the floor knocked out cold. I don't have a total real memory loss that i know of. I basically remember the reaction starting radiating up my leg, arm, chest, brain. That's it. Apparently i blacked out hit the floor and i just remember waking up with a doctor over me and missing a tooth cause i hit face first.
I wish they would give Danny Rojas a storyline. He is my favorite.
3:54 Oh yes, I once had to drive across town to pick my partner up after a bike crash; they called me three times while I was on the way because they didn't remember they had done it already, and when I got there they were surprised that I was there. It was scary all the way around! (They recovered, but don't really remember the calls or the crash itself.)
You’re right. Roy’s sister is that A&E doc.
First reactors I've seen who picked up right away who that Doctor was. Technically it's a spoiler to confirm that, but honestly... it doesn't reveal anything for you to know that (but yes, it's eventually confirmed in an episode).
Hey have y'all seen David Mitchell's spoof ad for football? "FOOTBALL FOOTBALL FOOTBALL!" It's hilarious and I'd love to see your reaction.
Have been concussed playing football a couple of times, I *wish* it made me burst in to song. Instead i had a thumping headache and horrific stomach for a couple of days with intermittent woozyness for a couple of weeks atleast. That was the 90's and playing schools football. DOn't even think i got subbed off. Almost sure i finsihed the game some how. Happened a couple of times. Elbow to the back midair and whiplashed to the ground and the ball catching me on the back of the head where the neck meets the skull.
Wouldn't wish them on anyone.
be patient lads. you have to wait until uncles day.
I’ve heard Troy Aikman say that he has absolutely no memory of a Super Bowl he played in because of a concussion he suffered in the NFC Championship game.
Troy said he didn’t remember flying to the host city or any of the practices. He doesn’t remember that Super Biwl at all or flying home afterwards.
Concussions are bad, bad things. I’m lucky I’ve never had one.
To get the exact same pitch size joke you should react to the movie Hoosiers. It shows what high school basketball in Indiana is like HS football is to Texas.
I got a concussion playing youth soccer once. I remember everything up to the start of the game then nothing after. I was told I went back in the game, but nothing about singing or anything like that.
That’s not good 😩 glad you weren’t singing though haha!
I still can't get behind the Sam and Rebecca thing. The power dynamic just makes it so wrong. Flip the genders and the club owner is getting cancelled.
Yeah that’s a fair point
Imagine something like that would come out, the yellow press would feast on it for months, maybe years.
True, but I have to give Rebecca some slack on it. I once had a much younger GF (I was 44, she was 23) than myself. I think it would be sexist to say a woman shouldn't have that same kind of experience. Then again..I don't own a football club. And my GF wasn't my employee.
Yeah
After you guys finish Ted Lasso please watch Blue Mountain State
NICK, don't knw if you've been watching but your Vols are playing tonight in the final game to win their 1st baseball National championship ! ⚾️⚾️
Ok the part where he tries to make them feel normal about being in the massive stadium. His entire speech is stolen is a reference to the movie "Hoosiers". In that movie a small town team in the 1950's, plays in a championship game in a massive stadium that happens to still stand today. Its a dramatized real story. But things being different with football makes the speech ineffective. But for me it was great small joke.
Oh yeah. I'm from North Carolina (always have to add my "Go Wolfpack!" because people think I cheer for 'DRUNK UNC'). That scene where Hackman breaks out the tape measure sends chills up my spine every time. I almost fell out of my chair laughing when Ted went there, and they had to tell him about different pitch sizes and Roy telling him Live-Aid was at "Old Wembley". Funny thing combining my love of basketball and football: I've lived in ATL for 40yrs, United is my club..but I still get a giggle that the current manager of Charlotte FC is named Dean Smith.
@@panamafloyd1469 i had no idea about that for Charlotte FC. That is kind of hilariously awesome.
@@creature1273 , yeah! I looked him up, he's ex-player from the UK. Was the manager that brought Aston Villa back from relegation in 2009 or so. 😆
Nick, recently watched DN’s reaction to George Carlin. Have you ever watched Lewis Black? If you like Carlin you might like him too.
I suffered concussion back in the 80s playing school rugby union and then went to Glasgow to see my team, Dundee United, beat Celtic. I have no recollection of the game at all.
👍🏾
In the US at least, therapists are required to have therapists. 1 doesn't want mentally disturbed people treating others' minds.
Ima keep saying this is my favorite season lol 😳.
My only gripe was the Rebecca/Sam matchup. They always seemed mismatched. Not just because of the difference in age, but their overall personalities seemed different. I think if she had a fling with Jamie that would've been a more interesting story.
Anyway, great reaction as always.
Y'all Take Care ...
I strongly disagree. Sam works because he is mature way beyond his age. Jamie is decidedly immature (much less so now than in S1, but still), so pairing him romantically with Rebecca would not have worked at all. I guess there could have been something purely physical (like with "hunky Luca"), but would not have wanted that either.
First one 🥇
Let’s go 👏🏼
