Just want to say that even though we got wrecked, and that both me and my Link still need a lot of work, I had sooo much fun participating in this event.
I guess good link mains dont up-b anymore? So many times in the yoshi and mewtwo matches I just wanted to see that spike happen. I like how HDL plays, but he could honestly stand to be a much cheaper bastard with his grounded up-bs. And truthfullu I found the only way to manage the faster characters is with projectile harassment. That's certainly the only way I can handle falco mains. (Granted wavedashing doesn't factor into it because at present none of my friends can do it. And for some reason we exclusively play lightning melee. I dont what that says about me.)
I think this would've been a lot closer if there had been more Link mains that play as well as Lord HDL. Those first couple Links were hard to watch...
Most of the Stinks are god tier with their characters (Vectorman , Taj... like WTF) while the Links doesn't have any experience against low tiers. Even with Germ , they would have lost. The last Stinks were The Lake (Zelda) and KAGE THE WARRIOR
Smurfy vs Vman was awesome! Also the Yoshi hat and VMAN tag on smurfy, and the player cams on opposite sides of the screen from character stocks was confusing o_O
@Kage: Someone needs to remember when the true Hero of Time fulfilled his destiny against the King of Evil. :) The best part about this event was guessing with the Twins about how many stocks Vectorman was going to take. I think I guessed 8 and they guessed 7, lol. I wanted to take his plushy away to reduce his power but he didn't let me.
Well, me being the better link main, I know that there's 3 more differences between the past version of melee, and the new one. The Boomerang Hookshot glitch being one. My favorite is being able to airdodge twice
Oh hey, I didnt see anything about this in the comments, but Yoshi's super armor on his double jump is percent based. The higher his percent the more attacks will stop his jump. For example: Somewhere around 100%, PK Thunder makes Yoshi drop like a stone.
crew battles with X players vs X players, each player has 4 stocks and if you lose any stocks in one round but win you have to suicide down to the same number in the next round until you're eliminated

i like this idea for a crew battle (shoulda had mango and armada on the links), there should be more of these creative crew battles by character. Maybe like a humans vs animals crew battle? lol
Taj's Mewtwo is a beauty to behold. It's a shame we don't get to see the lower tier characters as much. They have a lot of neat strategies of their own.
The Puerto rican 'Blazing' is really good by the way, but he wasn't as up to par as me,skler,or HDL last time we all played. I'm glad to hear he still plays Link though
Why don't Link mains use fair....like you combo into it so easily and that move has fantastic knockback and at 90 or higher it can kill on Fountain or Battlefield.
Oh, no, I guess I was a little ambiguous; I'd meant like Tekken's Team Battle mode, where a single player selects a certain number of characters and battle with them against an opposing team in turn. Imagine a 35-stock match where once a character dies, it's replaced with a different one from the roster :) Kinda like King of fighters or more loosely Marvel vs. Capcom :)
There's another recovery for link where throws a boomerang, airdodges, hookshots, and then has his hookshot animation canceled by the returning boomerang. I think you can only do it in the version where Bowser can flame cancel. Skler did a video about it somewhere.
Teams play from a pool of stocks. Sooo if a guy 2 stocks a guy, then the winner who 2 stocked only has 2 stocks to verse with. So if a guy wins with one stock then he only has 1 stock to take as many stocks away from the other team.
Sakurai, please take note of these friggin' AMAZING tournament battles! I also really hope that Namco-Bandai push for a Tekken-style mode where you can have 4 characters with 1 stock each in a single match.
Maybe it's just me, but I'd rather have my ears raped for a split second while I turn the volume down than be unable to hear anything. It's like if you were watching a movie and the sound just cuts out at the best part.
when the mic gets too loud(clipping) i guess whatever they're using to record sound just shuts off to protect itself. if possible they should put a limiter on the mics to prevent that

Good to see Melee still has such a strong following. I stopped focusing on training for it when I began to play Quake. Now I wish to go back to Melee again.

If they confirm this battle for EVO I will get my ass over there somehow and show that there are more than 10 Link mains in the world.

You didn't notice that they kept falling off and dying until they had the number of stocks they ended on? It's a fairly basic pattern to pick up on.

Nevermind, I learned in the next match that yoshi can jump out of the starting animations of his shield and be invincible.
