I started to look for one too! What a motivation! Those are pure mechanical vw's, better then b5 passat!
I remember the times in mid-1990s when these were still new. I was a boy and was fascinated by the looks of this car. In post-USSR Ukraine's most depressive Luhansk region any foreign car would look as if it was an alien spacecraft. One of my grandmother's neighbours had similar Passat B3 Variant in grey colour. I've spent hours looking through the windows into the cockpit, amazed by all those switches and dials and stuff.
Love your channel, man! Cant stop watching your videos. I'm really glad I found this channel because other car videos are too noisey. Too much going on, too much talking, music, and speedrunning. I love to hear all the sounds when someone works on cars and so many people butcher that, unlike you. They will never make cars like this again that run after sitting for a good amount of time. Thank you for bringing these cars a second life. Many of them didn't deserve to be abandoned the way they were.
Working as a mechanic I really have realized that when doing a proper wash/detail like this you should try to remove the plastic inner fender wheel arch linings. They can hide a LOT of dirt and sand behind there, I have even found a few plants growing in a big pile of dirt. Still a great video, greetings from Finland!
Love your videos. This series was especially enjoyable and satisfying. I'm restoring a '92 Volvo 240, and your resurrection of this VW is inspiring. You should be quite proud of your accomplishments here.
You can almost hear it say: "THANK YOU" after this. Respect for the effort you put into this. This was build to last, nowadays cars are nowhere near this quality
Well done, you put a piece of automobil history back on the roads. The engeniering of good things died in 1999... I drive since 2001 a VW Scirocco gt ll and it's like traveling in time avery day... If you find an old car give some love you will get it back... : ) Greetings from Germany
Indeed, I drive a 1999 Seat based on the Polo 6N, and while this thing is slow and looks really bad (all banged up on the outside), it is so cheap to maintain and to fix that I am never sure that I want to give it up for something newer (not German makes though). It's really hard, if you're looking for a new-ish car to buy, which manufacturer still makes reliable models in the 2010s? Where the spare parts are also not hugely expensive (i.e. I paid 60€ for an exhaust system, but for many cars, it's more than 5 times that!) There should be more cheap cars on the road.
@@boxenjoyerkona I can fully agree with your statement, and I think I'll be keeping this car as long as it works. I'm a bit scared as to what happens when the sunroof may stop working at some time in the future (because that is a really important feature to me, rather than having no AC which is only sometimes a bit unfortunate when the windows fog up), but as long as this hasn't happened, I see no reason to replace it. I just know that my mechanic doesn't like working on sunroofs all that much, where the whole headliner has to come out and so on, so yeah - knock on wood it still works.
I remember watching the videos on this car when they came out ago and thinking to myself "someday I'll save one of these." Well, I managed to track down a fairly well-kept B3 wagon that needs plenty of TLC, but is otherwise in good shape. I'm hoping to keep it alive and well for alot longer. It's all thanks to these videos, of course. Your work is inspiring, Flexiny. Keep up the good work.
Really, really great job on the whole "bring her back to Life" series - most people would just leave to scrap/rot, so really well done on the dedication - she didn't need much love, just your time - proves how well these cars were made ! Keep the videos coming !

The Passat B3 Wagons with the Rieger styling kit was the coolest looking wagons back in the early 90's in Europe. I still remember seeing a Golden metallic 1.8T wagon with full Rieger kit and whopping 17 inch wheels back in 1993.. @Paulie Gualtieri hope so. As i said, they deserve to be saved. And here, old german cars are really cheap. A Passat B3 in a decent shape is 500-800€. In Romania, with 500€ you can buy cars like Golf 2 or 3, Audi 80 b2\b3, some Mercedes from late 90's or early 00 etc.

This brings back so many childhood memories of sitting in my parents Passat and playing with the vents and buttons pretending it was a space ship. I remember thinking the newer (2000 ish same style as mk4 golf) Passat was so ugly with the rounded corners because I was used to seeing the older 80’s cars that were so square. I also remember playing with the fuel filler cap and being interested in how the V groove ran around the car except at the filler cap where it flattened out so you had a finger hold to open the flap. This is the first car I remember my parents having (although I know they had a Nissan Sunny before). The first car I got to drive; sitting on my mothers lap and steering down the dirt road. Cars still do last. I live in Bulgaria and we get a lot of German taxis on the second hand market. 2014 E class with 500,000km sells for about 8000 Euro and it's in great condition. With good maintenance 1,000,000+ km is very possible
My grandpa has a b3 1993 passat 1.9t diesel sedan. Sold in canada, and exported to portugal the same week (brand new). Now that the car is old and my family owns it due to liquidation, Theyre thinking about buying a new car to keep in portugal. So I spoke to an advisor about exporting the vehicle back to canada. It would cost less than $2,000cad. And since the vehicle was sold in canada but now lives in portugal, importing it back to canada means that all taxes are exempt, and it would only cost shipping, and it does not have to be safetied to be imported. My next visit to portugal, I'm going to post pictures and vin on Vinwiki, so that the car's history (and future) can be documented. This car is HUGE (in size), and all 74hp 5speed is very slow. fastest ever gone with me in it was 140kph. I am excited for this project, but my fears of getting it stolen are high since the technology from that era has already been cracked. Thoughts anyone?
I had a 10 year younger (2001) Volvo S60 with a 5 cylinder 2.4 petrol engine, converted to run on LPG. I sold it about a month ago with 450k km on the clock, still going strong. Diesel engines get high mileages much easier as per the Diesel design principle (self combustion etc.) so 315k km isn't really surprising.
@@247Matthew if you're worried about not being able to implement a proper immobilizer, ChrisFix has a video on how to install a fuel cut-off switch. You can hide a switch somewhere in the car that will prevent the car from starting even if the ignition is forced as the fuel system will be shut off until the switch is activated by you.
This video gave me so much pleasure...amazing to see the car brought back to life in such a way. I love '80s/'90s cars (primarily Volvos but all are welcome) and to see a beauty like this revitalised is wonderful. Back in my student days I had one of these. It was my 2nd car. A 1989 right-hand drive 1.8 petrol in CL trim if memory serves. It was precisely that colour. Man that thing was one of the best cars I ever owned. Drove it all over Germany, Austria, France, Benelux, the UK. Slept in it, camped in it, went wine-tasting in it, had sexy time with my lady in it. I miss that car. I sometimes wonder if it's still on the road. Thanks for the memories!
Was told to do some breathing exercises to calm down. Watched this instead. I felt really calm when you put the new oil in and filter on. So thanks for showing the engine starting up, that's made my day.
I have a same Passat, exactly '91, but its a 1.8 petrol. You gave me a lot of inspiration. Thank you, for saving another one of the VW history. Greetings from Hungary!
A little tip from detailer to detailer. Use the microfiber that you use fo the touch wash in a way that you go from top to bottom and move it lines and not circles since it creates round scratches.
I did this the exact same way on my '91 Passat B3. The paint was in a bad condition. After taking it to a car wash I've polished the whole car. I had to replace nearly everything from windshield to suspensions for safety inspection. Now the Passat is looking like a brand new car. A good and reliable classic vehicle.
@@TerribleB33 LOL my grandfathers 1993 passat (diesel sedan). Theres almost no rust on the car, but the passenger door has been dinged soo much that the rust spots are on the end of the door. (My grandma pretty clumsy

When I saw the interior immediately thought, Wow, that's going to be a lot of work dude. Also remembers me my first car, was not a VW but have a VW engine, very resistant; I pushed the pedal really hard many times and never failed. P.D.: I like the orange turn signals too, nice detail.
I have a 1998 golf IV in red, and all the clearcoat is now chipping away because of all the sunlight. amazing seeing this car without any major problems in the paint
Fantastic work man! The only thing is, I think you should also change a few parts of the suspension, like the rubber bearings, because I think after 17 years they will be hard af or even just be gone. Same goes for the springs and dampers
Snow foam for starters really helps loosen and lift surface dirt after an initial light hose down. Leave it to sit for a while then rinse it off. Love your videos bro, keep them coming! ❤

Great video :-) Absolutely love it. So satisfying to watch. I got a little sat out when you used a heatgun to bring back the trim around the car, but still..... Hats off, my friend :-)
Really nice job. It looks great. Those cassette holders in the centre console remind me of my childhood because my Dad had a 1988 BMW 320i that had the same.
Amazing video and incredible transformation! Just a tip for next time, never wash the car with the sponge in a circular motion since it can leave swirl marks on the paint.
If only this car could speak she would thank you a thousand times... I subscribed after this video Now throw a subwoofer and do some other minor touch ups to the exterior and it's perfect I'm 20 years old and i would love to drive a car like that
Very nice job Flexiny! B3 Passats with the 1.6TD or 1.9Tdi are great vehicles built for longevity! Is this going to inspected for road use or are you selling it as is? It still misses a fog light in the front bumper that would but the finishing touch. Please keep making these detail videos very satisfying!

You can hide a switch somewhere in the car that will prevent the car from starting even if the ignition is forced as the fuel system will be shut off until the switch is activated by you.
its amazing now! i hope to see more detailing videos of the rescued cars
This video gave me so much pleasure...amazing to see the car brought back to life in such a way. I love '80s/'90s cars (primarily Volvos but all are welcome) and to see a beauty like this revitalised is wonderful. My grandfather owned a B3 saloon with the 1.6TD engine and the sound of it is super nostalgic!
Passat B3 GT 1.8 16V here! (KR engine code) with 136HP from 1989. 270000 Km and still running strong. Very well equipped: front and rear power windows, electric sunroof, ABS, A/C, power steering, electric heated door mirrors, trip computer, fog lights and alloy wheels. No intention to sell or scrap it!
Wow, never seen with this equipment here. Any videos about it?
@@Flexiny Not yet. Mine was for the European market but the American ones came with even more equipment: cruise control, automatic seat bealts, side impact bars,...
@@pychoncy You should make a video of it!
@@Desynccc There are lots of Passat B3s like mine. The rarest optional equipment is electronically regulated air conditioning (CLIMAtronic), dual airbags (driver and passenger) and, to a lesser extent, cruise control
I remember when these were new. It was back in 1992, and one of my American classmate’s dad had it brand-new. This was in France. For some reason it sticks in my mind. Whenever I see one of these it reminds me of my childhood and good times. Well done on bringing it back to life.
You know you got a quality car when it just sits in a ditch for 17 years and starts up. Even the reverse lights work.
First car i ever drove. A '93 B3 Synchro with the 2.0 petrol. Imo the best family car there ever was. Thanks for bringing up the memory :)
That's absolutely fantastic, respect!! Greetings from Germany.
This is just amazing! I watched all three videos and I can say that this car was brought back to life almost literally! Great job !!
Was told to do some breathing exercises to calm down. Watched this instead.
I felt really calm when you put the new oil in and filter on. So thanks for showing the engine starting up, that's made my day.
If it had the present technology as a diesel,it wouldn't start for no reason..Good old stuff..!👍
There's something lovely about watching classic cars being cleaned, sorted and restarted 😊.
Lovely car this!
It is so cool to see how much love you give to that old cars 😍🔥
Прекрасная работа, а главное минимум затрат и без перекраски👍
gee not a single rust on arcs thats something I didnt expect from car sitting just there
There is a little a bit rust. This car is not so rusty because it has been standing and not driving on salty roads.
@@Flexiny oh yeah forgot about that part these damn salt roads here are killers

I have a same Passat, exactly '91, but its a 1.8 petrol. You gave me a lot of inspiration. Thank you, for saving another one of the VW history. Greetings from Hungary!
i've saw the post, now that i see the video i'm literally in love. I would buy this car even tomorrow! 😮
Well, it is about 200€ plane ticket from Italy to Estonia, so what is stopping you?
@@JJsAutomotive maybe a thing called coronavirus/no money available 😂
Thanks for giving him a second life! After your work it looks so great again!
Looks ready for the road, so long as it's not swiss-cheesed with rust underneath of course...
hey! any problems with swiss there? :D

Those cars don't rust.
@@TerribleB33 LOL my grandfathers 1993 passat (diesel sedan). Theres almost no rust on the car, but the passenger door has been dinged soo much that the rust spots are on the end of the door. (My grandma pretty clumsy
In some of the other videos you can see its got some crust underneath, from what i can tell the worst of his worries are the brake lines, otherwise extremely solid car, love it
Estonia looks very beautiful! Great restoration!) Good lack man)
Man, this is better than watching Netflix lol.... and women would never understand! Great content!
Woah brilliant job I love these old school VWs like this one. Looks lovely and clean like it came out of the factory only yesterday
Молодец, уважение тебе. Хоть сейчас бы приехал забрал бы машинку. 👍 Passat b3 рулит!

When I saw the interior immediately thought, Wow, that's going to be a lot of work dude.
Also remembers me my first car, was not a VW but have a VW engine, very resistant; I pushed the pedal really hard many times and never failed.
P.D.: I like the orange turn signals too, nice detail.
The orange turn signals were wtock on the CL and GL models.
this car looks fantastic for me. Love this video
Greetings from Krakow, Poland: well done!
Thank you for ressurecting this gem! It will never leave you behind. Very durable vehicle :)
How smudgeful it came. Really Hat Off, well done. So keep up your luck:)))
I have a 1998 golf IV in red, and all the clearcoat is now chipping away because of all the sunlight. amazing seeing this car without any major problems in the paint
Fantastic job! Well done! Sterling effort!
Are you on Instagram?
Yes, with same name as youtube
WOW ! Unreal work ! You brought that back from basically junk to a respectable motor ! Well done and congratulations !
please do more of these kind of vids, I really liked it
I like when something that was basically abandoned comes back to life, she looks good and has good bones.
Fantastic work man! The only thing is, I think you should also change a few parts of the suspension, like the rubber bearings, because I think after 17 years they will be hard af or even just be gone. Same goes for the springs and dampers
Awesome job! I've watched all 3 videos and I'm very impressed! Loved every second!

Snow foam for starters really helps loosen and lift surface dirt after an initial light hose down. Leave it to sit for a while then rinse it off. Love your videos bro, keep them coming! ❤
There's always that joke - "It Will Buff Out", and you did just that. 😆
What a superb job! I've always liked the look of these cars, they seem quite rare in the UK now.
beautyfull job and car, you awesome and rescue old car, this car have a soul :)
My sister have one of these in 1.9tdk. She will never get rid of it. Never let her down all those years she's had it.
This was the First car I ever saw my parents own when they had me in 2000. that car went through so fucking much xd eventually we got the Brand new 2007 Passat straight from the German factory. and now my dad owns a Passat 2011 model. so we stay loyal to the Brand that's for sure xd
I can not recognise it. It is another car.
It's a Volkswagen for sure.
I have so many memories with a car exactly like this, my grandparents used to have one. We drove to Austria every year in it, until my Grandfather wasn't comfortable driving that far anymore. I miss those times...

If you’re using a good quality soap and wash mitt it does not matter if you go in a circular motion.
G Davis But the mit can capture rocks and other debri which can end up scratching the surface.
@@MrUmbrellaz So if you wash in straight lines the rock in your wash mitt won’t cause scratches?
G Davis Of course it will, but the scratches will be less visible than the ones that were caused by a circular motion.
G Davis You can look up car washing guides if you don’t believe me. Watch ChrisFix’s video on car washing, he mentions this.
You are an artist... A lot of love and respect from a moroccan

Wicked video. Back when VWs weren’t disposable junk. dang stuttgart.
What a great car! My father used to have one B3 as service car maybe for 4-5 years i was with a fresh driving license and was driving the hell out of it. The good old 1.8 petrol was great. I miss that car it was such a solid vehicle. Your is awesome keep the good job
