300 days of rain a year in Scotland. The North Atlantic is but a stone throws away. The waters around the Western Isles are some of the most dangerous on the planet and the mountains just love to empty the clouds...happy days. One point to remember for those who do not walk in the Highlands...we do mountain miles. That is to say for every mile one walks along you walk another upwards...and by default downwards.
Oh Becky, this looked tough as nails. As you said, sometimes getting lost is a good learning experience. As long as you come out of it OK. But you kept pushing on and that is a true testimony to your strength. Honestly in awe of your inner grit to keep going. Can't wait to the next episode.
I carried your pac from Tesco to the van, the massive distance of several metres so to carry that beast as far as you did is deserving of kudos for that effort alone. Chapeau.
Those bugs sure did a dance on that pretty face of yours. Ouch! I have to laugh when you say the weather is quite lovely... I'm in the states, and the weather in Utah is almost 100% sunny all the time. That's my version of lovely weather. lol. Thank you for sharing this journey with us. You do an amazing job of capturing the beauty there, and I really do love your accent. It's very cute!
Good morning Becky. Intense thinking along with physical labor can take a toll on the body. The extra sleep rejuvenates so you can crack on. Learning from a mistake is the best teacher. Food is very important and there will be future gift cards. And congratulations on becoming an ambassador for Kendal Mint Cake Company. As mentioned in ep2, you have an outstanding sense of humor. Thank you Becky for sharing part 3 and am looking forward to part 4. Have a wonderful day.
a wee tip when your feet are getting so wet is put your socks on dry then put plastic bags on top then into your shoes ,boots good always when in wet Scotland 🏴
All credit to you. That stretch from Sourlies to Barrisdale, through Glen Carnach under Ben Aden is one of the toughest walks there is. I did it on the 20th December 1972 in force nine horizontal rain. It was part of an ill fated walk from Morar station to the Kintail Lodge Hotel. The party was Mad Max Hargreaves, Graham Bacon, John Fox and Rosie Gibson. The part where you went astray is all too easy to do, as the ground is rough and trackless, at least it was when we did it. At the time there was a fisherman living at Barrisdale, and he gave us a lift over Loch Hourn to the path that leads to Corran. The next day, Hogmanay, we got lost and had to be recused by pals at the Kintail Lodge Hotel driving over Mam Ratagan. No GoreTex then. Well done.
45 minute video flew by. I was so interested to see how you got on and was happy seeing this pop up in my feed tonight. Thanks for sharing your journey.
Enjoying the cartography, comparing your pen pointers to Caltopo Maps on the web, fun to see the names, bothy, and bridges on your routes. Cracked me up with that final description....WET DOG.....!!!! CLASSIC LOL !👣
OMG. Where to start? heavy pack, wet feet ,,challenging terrain, challenging weather, wandering off the track, crowded out from the bothy, 230 miles, jeffin midges.... Any, and many of these things i've encountered while out hiking have made me doubt what the F*** am i doing?. Whereas you can only see the the bigger picture, the stunning scenery and the joy of being outdoors. I utterly commend you for that. Loving the series. You talk to us like a friend sitting in the pub recounting your adventures. Nice one
Becky this looks like the toughest trek you have been on ! I admire your adventurism. I could listen to your voice all day long. Can't wait for more! ❤🌹🌹🌹 from Texas. Forgot to say your beautiful!!!
Really enjoying watching this series Becky. 😀. You're an absolute trooper. Perfectly informative and extremely interesting. I love the Scottish weather you're getting, adds to the beauty of it. You're a star thank you for continuing the fabulous content on your channel. Take care and I'm looking forward to the next episode 💗🥾
thank you Becky to share your trip and the beautiful landscape country of scotland ! i'm scared for you when you say : i'm lost.... !! i can't wait the next episode......!! greetings
Really enjoying watching this series Becky,That wet weather must be really difficult when all your kit and clothes are soaking.I really tip my hat to you for battling on with a smile, even in those bad conditions. The views make it though.well done, very best wishes to you.
I am really enjoying your channel and I must have found you after watching Haze Outdoors do this trail as well. I also watched your bushcrafting videos and you really know your stuff. I hope to be able to visit the UK one day and wild camp. It looks so beautiful. Thanks for sharing your adventurers. Cheers from Canada.
I had a coastal hike yesterday in my home county of North East Lincolnshire, ended up doing 15 miles and I loved it, coastal hiking is my favourite. Another awesome video thank you for making it, Scotland sure is beautiful.
It's like being on an adventure not knowing how it will end and it's so gripping, almost Blair Witch'esque at times, kind of want the next instalment already! I defo need to get some walks in up here! Thanks for sharing your journey with us. :)
Well done Becky. I've watched you grow in confidence and knowledge over the years. You're doing amazing things. Your family must be bursting with pride. I wish I'd got into the outdoors when I was your age. You're an inspiration.
Your comments say it all. Great gripping footage. Your such a star. Thanks for taking us along it must be hard doing all that tracking and filming too. Well done
Oh, emotional getting lost and then elation when back down to the track. Such a weird feeling of fear and excitement all in a short period of time. Adventure! Keep at it, girl. Love how you always acknowledge the nature around you. It’s like your point of going back to beauty that calms everything down. Also a good idea to talk about not doing it all if you don’t feel well or whatever. There’s no need to do it all and just enjoy the experience.
Another great video it is a pitty the weather wasn't kind to you.but the scenery aspeacally Scotland is well worth it in your adventure of a lifetime . absolutely brilliant
@@GirlOutdoors Becky, I have a story to tell, If it matters. First I had had get a new TH-cam account, lost my old one. My other account was Todd Porter. So if you get anything from that account it is not me. daniel porter being the new one. Part two... I have a German Shepherd Pup her name Is Wynter. when I would watch your Vids, there she was and still does watch them too, every time you would say Water, Wynter's Head would tilt. Now because of that...AHAHAHA... I have to say Water in a British sort of way...and BOOM she is off to take a drink... Again ,thank you for your Vlogs.
OMG🤣 24:15, "You couldn't swing a cat in there".... I haven't laughed that hard in while, that was too funny. Your vids are always good and entertaining 👍
Wow.!! Scotland really threw its bad weather at you in that episode.!! Well done for battling your way through it.!! You certainly are a girl with some serious strength and determination inside you..!!Fantastic video yet again. Loved it.!!👍 Take care, keep smiling and most of all stay safe🙂
You are pretty much nailing it! Yes, you will find yourself conditioning as you progress. Glad you are listenting to your body! By the way, your camp was certainly beautiful as you pointed your camera back. So much enjoying watching you thrive in your element. Just spent two days in the rain myself here in the PNW. Ha...just got home and now watching you hike!!! Guess we just can't get enough! You're handling all the challenges you face with such a great attitude! You're awesome! Have fun!!!
Well done Becky glad your enjoying the walk it looks amazing but not taking a midge net to Scotland omg definitely a big mistake glad it was dry for you on day 5 keep going mate atvb Jimmy 😎😎👍👍
Really enjoying these. How you managed in Scotland without a midge net I’ll never know. For us “oldies” it’s lovely to see the scenery and take part, if virtually, on your adventure. You certainly liven up the dark dreary nights x
So beautiful! The landscape as well. Thanks for sharing this with us and you got it by the horns sweetheart! Lots of love and blessings from Ontario Canada!
Becks your fortitude is inspiring. Any multi day trek with a heavy pack is physically AND mentally challenging especially on trackless ground & steep ascents. Yet your spirit is positive & fearless even when lost. Keep going mate, I'm with you in spirit xx
I did wonder where you were headed when leaving barrisdale Bay 🤔 That section from sour lies to barrisdale really is hard going, along with the section to Kinloch hourn. Looking forward to the next video. Well done, great effort 👍
I keep checking my notifications for your new video so glad to see it come up today. Really enjoy your adventure, the scenery is awesome and you are brave young lady. Looking forward to the next episode.
I find you've got to regularly keep tabs on your sat nav to check where you are, following paper maps is good but sometimes if you can't pinpoint your exact location it's easy to go off course. I hope you make it to the finish 👍
Fantastic vlog Becky....you never fail to amaze me.I felt rotten for you with your gear all wet,I wished it would stop raining.I think of you now as the new SUPERGIRL....I hope you make it to the end but if you don't its not a failure as you have done an amazing hike so far....you can always complete it some other time.....everyone here supports you whatever your decision so good luck girl and remember watch your wee legs and feet.....good luck Becky!
Looking forward to watching when I get back...I'm on the Great Glen and then straight onto the west highland way .lots to watch when I get home can't wait! Thumbs u to u it's tough out there 👍😘
Thanks for sharing this adventure. The landscape are stunning even in the rain. Seeing you happy even when it’s difficult is so motivating and inspiring. Continue to amaze us. You’ve definitely found you way !!
Just before you mentioned the hiking poles I was thinking, I'm glad Becky has got some poles as that path looks difficult and they are good for stability. Admire you character so much, keep pushing through young lady
Carrying around 20kgs of backpack over that type of terrain is no joke. I am fit and weigh 80kg, I would find it hard. Until you have done something like that you can’t appreciate how tough it can be, day after day. You probably weigh around 50kgs so at around 20kgs you are carrying 40-50% of your body weight on your back. Hats off to you, I couldn’t carry half my body weight like that. It would certainly be a case of “mediiic!” Hard as nails, girl. Well done. respect
Thanks Becky, this is great and glad you are "weathering" the conditions, that's the best part about Scotland, you feel alive out there. I'll be doing this next year WITH a head net :-)
I hiked the Beara Way in Ireland a few years ago and had some really rainy/boggy/ugly/days! I'm impressed by how you just roll with whatever comes your way -- even the midges! Looking forward to the next episode!!
