    Thanks for the video, it's very helpful. I'm looking at building a smaller oven - 3' x 2' x 2' Do you think the smaller Mr Heater 30,000-60,000 BTU would provide enough heat for powder coat curing? Thanks in advance.

    Do you think i will need a fan in my 8'x8'x10' oven heated with a torpedo heater?

    • @710performance
      @710performance  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You should not.

    • @WireWeHere
      @WireWeHere 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've always calculated to allow for an exhaust fan. This can make your oven interior slightly negative and this prevents all the whining about burning eyes and eliminates carbon monoxide naps. Sending the exhaust through a heat exchanger so that the potential losses can be used for building heat if it's cold enough or as a preheated inlet supply for your burner. I was wondering, do you loop oven air back through the torpedo heater? Is this even an option or will the heater overheat? I doubt it would handle full oven temp but might be okay with a percentage.
      Just a few thoughts. Oh, one more thing: running parallel thermocouples is a trick to stabilizing temperature. They give an average temperature without having to add any hardware.

      @@WireWeHere I appreciate the info you gave me. I don't plan on looping any oven air through my torpedo heater because like you said, i think it would over heat. On the thermocouples, mount one low and one high?

    Good video but... Fiberglass will NOT CATCH FIRE! Mineral wool is better however check your facts...

    • @710performance
      @710performance  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mineral wool is better for insulating the oven for sure. As for gaskets fiberglass lasts much long and is more durable than mineral wool, making it much better for gaskets. But people can use mineral wool if they want, they just may have to replace them more often, if they can easily find them.

    What size rivets did you use? You said you used 18 gauge metal, what kind of metal, aluminum, iron metal,...? How much is the cost of a 4’x8’ sheet where you are now. I checked black iron 4’x8’ black iron for outside of oven @ $75 each tax included.

    • @710performance
      @710performance  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe they were 1/8" rivets. I don't remember the cost of the metal, but in one of our videos we went over the cost of the entire oven and we had the metal price included. $75 sounds about right.
