    What I got out of the first question/answer/key takeaway was also that you shouldn't start a business with the idea that you will sell it. That would be starting a business with the intention to quit. That shows lack of passion, and how valuable will your business be if you're not passionate, and have a pre-planned out? Who actually starts a business with the intention to get out of the business? That's self defeating. Good interview.

      Well I would sell the business to reinvest the money into other more ambitious business ideas.

    • @7bener
      @7bener 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      this is completely unreasonable. You say that if you dont plan to sell it, you want to quit sooner or later? The real passion lies exactly there in my opinion, not selling the business because you want to be responsible for it yourself during its whole lifecycle. See, Snapchat rejected a billion dollar offer from facebook. Think about it, what possible reason could someone have to not accept a billion dollars?
      people should start a business because they love it and want to chance something, not have dollar-signs in their eyes.

    Amazing interview! The most valuable thing I took away is "don't seek/ask for reassurance". I think that is such a huge thing in our world today and I'm guilty of it. Wanting to know if I'm doing things right because the last thing I want to do is be bad at work. But I have found most often that if I take the initiative and do things first it works out great for me and those around me. So for someone like Seth Godin to say that, it just drives the nail home!!

    • @ExtraordinaryLiving
      @ExtraordinaryLiving 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Seeking reassurance and approval and not wanting to do the "wrong" thing ... all these have a very long, deep, and profound history of why we behave this way. Listen to any of the many spiritual speakers out there today, and you will get the answer why.
      BTW, have you just now realized that you have just gratified yourself for having what you've been doing reassured (by Godin)?!! Haha!

    I agree with everything Seth says.
    But, one issue: at the end, the woman recaps that Seth "didn't try to make money." I understand the value of that attitude. However, you have to pay the rent, etc., just to get by, so that you can continue taking chances & doing great work.
    Does anyone have any thoughts?

    How...how are you doing this? Do you know these people? Could you please give a little behind the curtain?

  • @bitesizefirst
    @bitesizefirst 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well ofcourse Seth Godin was good as always but just to clarify this wasn't an interview, when you don't follow up after someone gives an answer and dive in a little deeper you are not interviewing you are interrogating. It's obvious from her respons on a couple of answers she probably didn't even understood the answer on her own questions by looking up in the sky afterwards (brain scan) and not even making an attempt to adding some thoughts of her own on the matter while in conversation. Ofcourse not everybody is cut out to be an interviewer especially when you obviously lack real interest in the subject matter and your subject. I watched Seth give some profound answers on wich she answer "well yeah ok, going to the next question" common please who is calling this an interview. The subject matter was good , what came out of Seth's mouth was good.. and that was it. Also when you want to come across as a professional and serious interviewer pls don't make up your hair like a barbie doll and wear something pink. (maybe you'de be better suited uploading make-up video's or something)

    • @realjackbronco
      @realjackbronco 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I notice the same thing in a lot of these videos. The people being interviewed HAVE to get tired of the same drivel they are asked each time they sit down with a new person. Like you said also, they make a hell of a reply to a question and the person interviewer was NOT listening. Just onto the next question on their little tablet gimmick.

  • @LisaMarie-rh5yn
    @LisaMarie-rh5yn 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I adore Seth so this was great; glad still here. Except 😬did this interviewer really NOT give Seth a heads up what the topic was AND that he notoriously doesn’t like to discuss himself? Further, first question was so cringe-worthy about the whole “I heard u made X million selling your business & gosh how would u advise people do that?! If you’ve studied Seth, u know that’s the last thing he’s gonna care about, let alone want to discuss. He was a great sport.

    • @thekelseyshow
      @thekelseyshow  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Lisa! I get what you're saying but this was a *personal profile* on him, his successes and his advice, for Entrepreneur.com and Success.com, and he knew that. And I try to tailor my questions for the audience who have always wondered x y and z about my guests. Of course I take the guest's preferences into consideration and make sure we cover what they want to cover too. Glad you still enjoyed this tho!!!
