Ukraine is a hard place to make it as a professional musician, especially in metal. The only ones left are the ones that wouldn't or couldn't bear to do anything else. Tatiana is married to the former drummer of Suicide Silence and now P.O.D who is from California since 2019 or 2020. Before the war she split her non-touring time between the US and Ukraine. I'm not sure about Eugene's situation as he's also married to someone from Cali but I think he has a child from a prior marriage in Ukraine and also splits his time between the US and Ukraine. Roman and Vlad though are Ukrainian full time when they aren't on tour. All three of the guys were in Kyiv when the invasion started and were stuck in the city under siege for several months until they got permission to tour as cultural ambassadors. They will be releasing a new album later this year and they guys started composing the music during that time under siege. They say it is very heavy, dark, and melodic - and I'm 100% here for it.

Ash is spot on about seeing them live. Tati is so captivating as a performer that it's almost difficult to look away. They did previously have 2 guitarists, but after the last founding member of the band left to pursue an acting career, Roman became the sole guitarist and it gave Eugene the opportunity to stand out even more on the bass.

Not to make Ash too jealous, but last time I saw Jinjer, I was front row center in Seattle (Washington, USA). The venue (El Corazon) has no space between the stage and audience. I sat through three bands (at 60 years old) - all amazing, especially Tatiana's husband's band, Suicide Silence (he's the drummer), and made it to the main event with my position intact. I think I lost 20 pounds (9 kilos) that night. Her riser was stomach height - when she stood on it, her boots would hit me in my stomach. When she windmill head-banged, her hair hit me on the top of the head (I even got a slo-mo of her hair hitting my i-phone camera lens). I literally had to pick her hair out of my phone protector at the hotel after the concert. But the true highlight was having her squat down on her riser, and while singing I Speak Astronomy, she sang/growled "Tell me why you're so suspicious, while you see black holes in my eyes" with her microphone literally touching my nose. So, is this a humble brag? No, it's a full-on boastful, in-your-face brag. For a 60+ metal head, and 100s of concerts, it's the most amazing memory in my life (musically speaking - marriage and kids being born obviously topping it). And, I get to see them for the third time in September this year - for the first time they'll be playing within 30 miles (50 km) of me. Guess where I'll be hanging out.
But - love watching Ash watch the Jinjer videos. I highly recommend their official (Napalm Records) videos of "Home Back" and "Vortex" - both are great with regard to musical skill, vocal talent, and changing musical genres on the fly. For live - if you can get anything from the 2021 Arte Concert film from Hellfest in France, that was an amazing show. Full stage production, pyro, effects, nightime concert, many cameras, shot end-to-end live, but with exactly zero people in attendance. It was amazing - how the group was able to put together such a compelling performance, knowing that their audience would see them at some time in the not-too-distant future, was truly astounding. They were exhausted at the end. A truly amazing performance. I believe Arte Concert has taken the original feed down, but most of the songs can be found (as well as the full live show) - not that you should stream the entire thing, but after having watched some more Jinjer stuff, it would be good for Dave and Ash to sit down and watch together.

Tatiana lives in California, as so do I. 2 weeks from now going to see them play, only an hour away from me. Tatiana Shmayluk is my favorite female lead singer. So awesome to watch the whole band in concert, this will be the 3rd time seeing them. Great reaction from you guys, Ashley always looks excited to watch Jinjer. You guys sound fun. Stay safe and have fun.

This song is one of my favorites from Jinjer right next to " Желаю значит получу (I want it I'll get it) " which was the first song I heard of them nearly a decade ago. So awesome seeing so many reaction videos of Jinjer. Has a dedicated lifelong metal fanatic (first concert at 13 was Pantera with Type O Negative way back in 1994) I can say there are so many great metal bands out of Eastern Europe. Her voice along with the many talented musicians that have been a part of Jinjer are simply amazing.

I love how you actually pointed out how good this band really is. It can be hard to hear it, because Tati is such an unbelievably fantastic singer - but the whole band is incredibly talented. The Bassist is sick, one of the best bassists I've ever seen, the drummer is nuts and the guitarist also... its one of those bands that are talented through and through.
What I also love about them is that they are influenced by all kind of music. You can hear Jazz, Hip Hop, Industrial even Reaggae in their songs and they mix and mash it together in such a great way and it sounds so effortlessly and if it was always supposed to be like this... Im always blown away by their talent! Incredible Band!

Roman really is overlooked a lot as a guitarist. There once was two guitarists in this band and one of them left the band to pursue a career in film some years back so it has been Roman ever since (although Eugene can play guitar pretty good to have just recently picked it up and Vlad is a really good guitarist himself)

-This is my favorite song of theirs. As was pointed out, this is a great illustration of how good Tatiana is as a vocalist. From the intro to her growls to her cleans to that last verse with when she slides higher in both sections, just amazing. Then, you have the playing of Vlad, Roman, and Eugene which is every bit as much of their sound.
-I got to see them back in December last year in Charlotte, NC. It was my first concert in, to use something inspired by “Deadpool”, “Fuck, I’m Old!” years and it was so much fun. (Somebody actually recorded the show and put it up on TH-cam.) I had such a great time that I’m seeing them on the 31st back in Charlotte and then on September 9th at the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach, SC.
-I’m sure that “Perennial” at Wacken is on the list along with a few others. However, while “Pisces” was the song that got me interested in them, the song that made me a fan was “Bad Water” especially the official live video that’s on TH-cam. I checked out a few of their songs after listening to “Pisces” a lot but none of them hit with me. I was basically looking for another “Pisces” and wasn’t getting it. After listening to “Bad Water” and enjoying it, my first thought was “I get it now.” I understood that what didn’t hit with me is what I like about them.

I would recommend you to take a look back with the "beginning" of the band Jinjer like Outlander... I saw the band live at a festival by accident myself at that time in 2013! You can see what kind of stage presence Tatjana already has, and her voice is a bit harder but still soft! Scissors and Outlander and from there listen up and hear this development to this day! I can only recommend this band live! They've been on tour in the USA for a few weeks now after their European tour.... Greetings from Switzerland 🇨🇭🤗

can i make one suggestion, since she was actually able to pick up on the quality of guitar play, could you possibly do one guitar play through by roman (the guitarist of the band)?... when you get to see him actually play it's even more impressive than when watching the music videos... actually it's nuts, the precision and inventiveness, he flies all over the fretboard

@@ashleighm8225 Why did you stop your TH-cam adventures? Always wanted to go to Tasmania.

I loved being in Aus and working on the farms alongside my travelling, even considered settling there. But I’ve moved countries once and decided I wasn’t ready to go through it all again. Plus weird as it sounds Manchester is home to me now, and I kinda got home sick. I have family in Aus though and hope to go back again!

Tati lives in the US with her boyfriend now, but most of the time they are touring because the guys got permission to leave the country to be cultural ambassadors and keep Ukraine in everyone's minds.
Before that permission and after the Russian 2022 assault they sheltered in Kyiv because their actual homes are on occupied territory.

Men of 18-60 years are not allowed to leave the country without special permission.
Tho tens of thousands of Ukrainian expats have flown *back* home to fight.

Thank you for helping Ukraine. I think you do not even imagine how important is any help. And how hard it is to sit hiding children from russian bombing all night and then to go to work during the day to have some money in your pocket. It is a huge improvement in situation with due to modern air defence systems, but it is never enough, when you have such an aggressor as russian facist state.
