Used to listen to this song all the time when I lived in the states. Moved back to Sweden in -96 and never heard of The Toadies again. Found this yesterday and started weeping uncontrolably. Fucking great rendition. To be able to still bring it almost 30 years later and do the song even better than back in the day is something else. Hat off to The Toadies. One of the 200 greatest songs ever written in my book ❤️
If I could sound like Eric Clapton, be as smooth as Elvis Presley, and dance like Michael Jackson, I would still want to play like Van Todd Lewis with Toadies.
When I was 13 possum kingdom was always being played on the nerve it was a station from Rochester so you could hear it in Syracuse and Auburn etc. I had never heard anything like possum kingdom- I was amazed and I still am
There simply amazing live!! Seen them 3 different times most recently Billy Bob's last year going to see them on the 30th at the Factory in Dallas for Toadies Day 2023 !! Love them !!!
My first real band, a pop punk band (ex. Blink, NFG, Yellowcard, FOB-type) used to open our shows with a cover of this song circa 2000-2001. It was a banger.
Only the Toadies could make such a song about an obsessed stalker finally going over the edge, doing a home invasion and the inevitable go this hard. Those lines paired with the shift in music, “I stumbled in the hallway, outside her bedroom door I hear her call out to me, I hear the fear in her voice. She pulls the covers tighter I press against the door. I will be with her tonight”.
Mark Schoenle III she left the band in the early 2000’s. Because Interscope wasn’t promoting the band like they should have. She still plays and acts too I think. She’s still friends with them from what I gather. The feedback lead guitarist guy isn’t the same either.

What happened to original bassist? She was so good and that Rickenbacker tone
