Jesus. This is just one of the BEST songs from the 90s - period. Twisted, dark, sick and sorta wrong, crazy timing / beat, a bitch to drum along with - it's got everything. A serious keeper. I thought I was the only weirdo doing it acoustic - good to see the Toadies getting on track :)
I credit this song for showing me alternative rock. Where I lived when I was a kid all they had was a half dozen country stations and some gospel, one oldies station and one classic rock station. That was it. When I got to middle school a new rock channel came out in. One night I was on the back porch doing homework and decided to check it out. Once the commercials were over this was the album version of this song came on. I was like what was that. The next song was Metallica Until it Sleeps followed by Alice In Chains Would. I was a changed man. Never looked back from there.
I always liked the full studio version. This is like an uncut but still studio version. Great view of artists working in music. Great percussion work. Great baseline. Great rhythm guitars. Great ‘lead’ guitar. Great total composition.
*Me, listening to this song for the first time:* I dunno, it's alright I guess. *Me, listening to this song for the second time:* This is actually kind of a banger. *Me, listening to this song for the third time:* I PROMISE YOUUUU I WILL TREAT YOU WELLLLLL *Me, listening to this song for the fourth time:* Wait, this song isn't sweet, it's about some creepy shit. *Me, listening to this song for the fifth time:* I PROMISE YOUUUUU-
i did the mix, and i can confirm. no effects on anything, besides a tiny bit of reverb. this is how it sounded in the room. recorded as separate tracks into pro tools then mixed with a light touch.
I remember this song from the radio in highschool but never got into them, this is as good as the best nirvana or pixies, I hope they have other songs this good I'm bout to dive in a rabbit hole
But it's not rape and murder. He's telling her he's not going to be a gentleman and he's not going to lie he wants to be with her forever as a vampire but she has to be willing and give it up to him. If she still wants to go that's on her.
Dakota Dodge, dodge him , I swear I wouldn't want him on your bad side! 😂 I love you too baby boy amongst others and you already know that you are my baby boy Blue DIAMONDS and new green eggs and 🐔💩
Not rape and murder, He tells her I'm not gonna lie I'm not gonna be a gentleman behind the boat house. But give it up to me and you'll become a vampire. With dark hair and soft skin forever.
Dear Camera Operator, You had ONE JOB: clearly capture the musicians playing their song, to document it for posterity. Instead, you let a GOD DAMNED MIC STAND completely block the view of half the fretting hand chord forms in the most difficult progression of the song. You couldn't even move three inches to the left??? You UTTERLY FAILED, and as a result, the internet is still flooded with horribly incorrect guitar transcriptions from self-proclaimed "experts". Please, recuse yourself from future video recording sessions. Thank you, Your Friends On The Internet

I'm a middle aged woman and I have fun playing this song in my room. My 22 year old son is probably like... wtf? lolol
@@k.pacificnw02134 The vocals will certainly stretch your chords, but it's worth it :)
These guys will always rock 🤟
@@k.pacificnw02134 I'm 62 yr old guy who blasts this and raunchier . My 35 yr old still lives with us.
@@ahsuser That's why you have to constantly practice...like I do at least 3 times a week in my car:)
The best band to come out of my hometown of Fort Worth, TX. I’m taking my son to see them (w/Local H) in Dallas on 12/30/23
What an amazing performance! Toadies is definitely one of my favorite bands of all time! Representing the great state of Texas!
I cant believe how good his voice sounds.
it is better then the 90's
@@matthewlegault7091 i quit smoking and drinking 16 years ago and my vocal range is worlds better than when i was in my 20’s
It’s like whiskey and wine and has refined with age.
@@bigbromiki1 I didn’t drink or smoke for 16 years. And then I turned 17
I was like he still sounds the same.
Still one of the greatest songs ever! So dark and twisted! Love it! And he still sounds freaking amazing!
2022 and Vaden still kills it

I wonder how many times they've played this song.
I love this band.

Brad Fuerst once or twice
Me too ive watched a thousand times stilll good
Too many 😂
I thought the same thing before I read your comment. Lol
That bass drop-in at 3:32 gets my head shaking and foot tapping. Every. Single. Time.
Yesssssssss
Be my angel
As a drummer. I agree. Timing baby
I play this bass lick every day
One of the most under rated artist in Rock music
Being able to land the chorus/c-section to that song... while acoustic... damn impressive... dude has a great understanding of how to use the mic.
Such an underrated song, that I'd forgotten about ❤
I always liked the full studio version. This is like an uncut but still studio version. Great view of artists working in music. Great percussion work. Great baseline. Great rhythm guitars. Great ‘lead’ guitar. Great total composition.
fucking masterpiece.
Wow his voice never changed
Evil unplugged! Although dark and twisted, Such a damn good jam!
I’ll never see Dr. Drew the same again.
This is incredible. It's like your uncles sitting around at a reunion and they pull out their instruments. Masterpiece.
I love the southern twang in some of the words he stresses
The "R's" i reckon ? ;)
He sounds just like John Fogerty when he does that. It’s awesome.
Dam I STILL LOVE THEM SO MUCH
Sick AF version of this song!❤❤❤

Vaden Todd Lewis still gots it, even as he gets older he's still rips on vocals
This song is in my top 25 from the 90's!
I love this, such a crystal version. From an Austinite.
How does this only have 61k views? One of the greatest live sessions I’ve ever seen!
90’s for life!!!!!!!!
You guys still got it! Sound great man!
Timeless!
DAMN......this is AWESOME!!!!! bravo bravo bravo
Great song. Completely psychotic and scary. But great.
Damn his vocals are on point
Sounds good those vocals seem to have almost no effects on them either....impressive.
i did the mix, and i can confirm. no effects on anything, besides a tiny bit of reverb. this is how it sounded in the room. recorded as separate tracks into pro tools then mixed with a light touch.
Sounding great. Good to see you again!
I really love this song.
You guys are great 😊
Need some pep.
Espresso fail.
[Throws on some Toadies.]
Achievement: unlocked.
Most misunderstood song everrrrrrrr seriously
This is a solid song forever becuase the all parts tight, and the drum beat is so original...
I LOVE THIS BAND❤
Excellent!
You still got it man 💯
The Toadies complete discography is totally underrated!
We all get a bit more chill as we age. This was fantastic.
Badass! Nailed it!
So damn good.
Amazing!
Still sounds great.
still golden 🤟
That was amazing!!!
It's too bad we all get older
Drummer finally getting to show some chops
Love the Bass
I remember this song from the radio in highschool but never got into them, this is as good as the best nirvana or pixies, I hope they have other songs this good I'm bout to dive in a rabbit hole
No matter how they do it its awesome!!!!!!!!
What a kick ass song
Amazing Performance
Awesome!
Wow, the dentist from the Hangover can really sing!
My favorite song about a rape and murder!
Agamemnon Butterscotch ah yes. Tyler is a good one too!
LOL I always thought Vampirism...
Polly from Nirvana was great also but this is definitely top tier anthem of the inner working of a homicidal maniac obsession with a girl
But it's not rape and murder. He's telling her he's not going to be a gentleman and he's not going to lie he wants to be with her forever as a vampire but she has to be willing and give it up to him. If she still wants to go that's on her.

Where the fuck did the time go?
bill burr does great on bass!
Can't see the chord progressions on the bridge and chorus sections? Why did you obviously hide them?

The one hit wonders
Okay...
they made like 4 other great hits
If they wanted hits I’m sure they could pull out some poppy shit. Their music is much deeper than that.
What? Doood… they have many great songs
Still to this day this song is misunderstood. You people in the top comments have no idea! Walk a mile in real shoes then give your two cents
Quite possibly the worst sounding cymbals I’ve ever heard and he acts like he gets paid every time he hits one. Otherwise outstanding.
1000th like ;)
