How did you know, for the area you were camping, who to call to ask about camping. Was it just you knew, by local knowhow, that these were the people that owned / managed the area or is there a system where we can find contact details for certain areas?
Hi Mark,. I don't normally ask I just go but this was near to a farm so I made contact with the farm via email and told them I intended to wild camp there. The farmer emailed me back telling me the land was managed by someone else and they gave me the name of the company who manage it. I looked the company up online and just gave them a call. And they were fine. But normally I don't ask. The farmer did say if they say no to get back to them and they would give me grid refs of some good spots on their land.

Good video, Mark. Was going to ask if you were filming your blog with the Osmo Pocket, but answered my own question when I noticed its shadow on your jacket - good quality and the sound wasn't bad even in the wind. That's the only problem with the Dales; difficult to find anywhere to camp with it being so popular - although you wouldn't expect anyone to approach you in the middle of nowhere! 👍
@@wanderingit_ That's exactly what it is but better. Its 4k and has an abundance of features like time lapse, motion lapse slow motion etc. It has all these features and it really does fit into a pocket. Good bit of kit.
Really enjoyed that Mark. The Peak District is my local NP but the Dales is my favourite one, especially that area of Upper Swaledale, above Keld. ATB, Chris
I live in close proximity to the Peak District as well but it makes a very pleasant change to go somewhere else. I've been going to the Yorkshire Dales for many years, I love it up there.
We really want to start wild camping as we've always stuck to campsites but love the idea of being isolated and having an early morning wild swim. Looks fabulous! Really interesting to hear you got the land owners permission first too. Glad to hear that.
@@QuakerJones268 Yeah I can imagine. I think that's why I've never gone for it. I don't like knowing I'd be breaking the law, I'm too much of a worrier!!
Nice one Mark, the landscape does feel big up there compared to the Peaks. Done shed loads of walking amd camping up there but not many wild camps. It doesn't matter how out of the way you feel up there, there's always someone out working
Hi Mark great video your channels developing well. Great footage and drone shots. I managed to complete the coast to coast as discussed when we met in that wildcamp last March. met a TH-camr wild camper snowymatrix who actually videoed the first part of my c-c. Worth a watch. The mate I went with broke his arm after 2 days so completed the walk solo camping out 9 days out of 12. The area you are in looks similar to the bit after the 9 standards very boggy 😂 Mayby catch up on a wildcamp sometime again looking to go out later this week to the peaks. atb Dave 😁👍

Yeah, the Osmo Pocket is what I use. Its just so easy to use although I do need to master it yet :-) I'm a bit of a novice.

Most of the time getting the land owners permission is nigh on impossible because it's so difficult to find out who actually owns the land.
