Excellent views of Robin Hood Bay village. Note that the tide goes out quite a way here and as well as the sands there are a lot of flat rockbeds with some of the best fossils to be found in the UK. It is not far from me and has always been a favourite place to go.
Danke memory Seekers, das war ja ein wunderbarer Spaziergang durch die Robin Hood's bay. Als deutsche habe ich dieses Video verschlungen.😂😂. Einfach idyllisch und schön.❤❤
Visited on Boxing Day about 15 years ago. The weather was extremely grotty, low dark clouds, cold driving wind, "lumpy" rain and the sea very rough. The owner of a chippy at the bottom of the hill had paid two students home for Xmas to put the fryers on for a lunchtime service. We sheltered under the portico of the old lifeboat station eating bags of steaming chips, along with a good number of like minded couples. It was bloody marvellous.
Some of the happiest times of my life spent here with my sadly passed on partner.it's a truly magical place from a bygone age.many thanks for your excellent video
Quirky and magical don't even begin to describe this beautiful, beautiful, village! Robin's Hood Bay looks like a place in an alternate world and one I would love to see and spend a lot of time in, if only to walk (hike?) around.
American here, Hello 👋. I remember seeing this in a UK doc many years ago, I’m so glad you shared this unique village. I love 💕 the many colors painted on the doors and houses. This village is just magical. I appreciate your details about the town and it’s historical past. Thanks again.
Hi, I along with another guy installed pumps motors control gear and associated pipework under the floor of the coast guard museum you mention, back in 1964. It was bought by Leeds University as a marine laboratory. Our pumps drew sea water at high tide and pumped up to holding tanks in the roof space ,which then fed the various specimen tanks. We stayed 5 weeks at the top of the hill in the Grosvenor Hotel, just up from the laboratory a shop did fish and chips only on Wednesday lunchtimes. When we left in our mini van it couldn’t get up the hill on its own , I had to step out at walking pace and push - we made it. Thanks for prodding the memory banks. By the way I was 15.
Me to, dad was station officer at the coastguard station which back then was on top of the hill on the southern side of the village Left in 65 and moved to Wick in North Scotland before emigrating to Australia in 69 Will get back there again soon
Robin Hoods Bay is at the end of the Coast-to-Coast path that crosses the country. I remember meeting my uncle there after he completed the walk, absolutely magical place to be.

Wonderful little town, we missed it when visiting Whitby, so we have to come here another time. Lovely made video, thank You so much for sharing with us! Best wishes from Germany 🇩🇪!
Another great look at some of the many magical postcard British locations that were missed in younger days. Julia Bradbury's series may have shown some of the more hard-core adventurous possibilities in the past but this series shows what us less athletic types could have enjoyed given the chance. Long may these posts continue. 🙂
Brings back happy memories of many years ago, camping above RHB after hiking along the cliffs from Whitby, and walking around the village eating fish and chips.
Here’s an extract from an airbnb description which includes the gatepost mouse: Beckfield is home to one of the famous "spots" in the bay, when the house was purchased by the family of the current owners in 1938 a gate for the house was made for them by the famous Thompson of Kilburn. His mouse trademark is a favourite with visitors.
I used to frequently visit this enchanting little village, often renting the quirky white house opposite the Bay Hotel. I used to love it more in the winter when most of the tourists were gone and you could sit on a stormy night by a blazing log fire in the upstairs lounge at the Bay Hotel with spray from the sea splattering against the windows. Magic days.....
I first knew of this gorgeous place thanks to the books of Molly V Huges who visited here in the late 1800's... though at the time they struggled to find any shops at all.. by the looks of it she'd still recongnise it today... beautiful place.

Once watched a fizzling meteorite come in from the sea and explode across the town. Brilliant film, best I’ve seen on a village I know well. The beach is stuffed with fossils when the tides out but the best thing is to wander those lanes… many thanks.

I visited this village in August 23 , some of the shops featured are no longer there, I guess covid finished some of them sadly, it is indeed a lovely place to visit, when the tide is out it’s a great place for kids to explore, lots of nooks and crannies to explore in the village, the small road down into the village from the car park , that you will have to walk down and return on is seriously steep 🥵but worth the effort
One thing you missed is the lifeboat cottage it's absolutely miniscule you must visit if you go again. We were lucky enough to look through the windows and the cleaning lady came out and asked if we'd like to look around.
@@MemorySeekers we only found it by looking through the windows and the cleaner coming out. It's towards the bottom on the left that's all I can tell you.
We've been here a few times, it's a magical little place. A pity that the tide was in because one of the best features is the smugglers tunnel which is beside the Bay Hotel, couldn't be seen. We stayed at The Bay Hotel in one of the sea view rooms, glorious views over the bay but if you are a light sleeper then these rooms may prove challenging. The tide came in through the night and the waves crashing against the walls kept us awake for a while but we just lay there laughing to ourselves! The video doesn't do the steep hill justice but again, that's part of the fun of this place. If you have never been here then go and visit it! plenty of cafes and a few pubs to keep you refreshed. The beach itself when the tide is out is expansive but can be rocky in places so plenty of rockpools to explore.
Yes, it was a shame we could not see the tunnel but that water was rough and no chance of getting anywhere near it! Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences in the bay, most interesting to read. Wonderful place.
Well done and beautifully filmed. You certainly showed the village off with this one. Lovely narrow streets and alleyways. The slightly rough sea added to it's beauty. Have yourself a wonderful Christmas and a great New Year.
Thanks for another wonderful video. Your videos are a great combination of scenery, detail, narration, and information, and all of them make me want to jump on a plane for a visit.
What an adorable town! Thank you for pointing out the mouse on the gatepost and other charming details. I love all of the brightly colored doors. Everything there is now England, but I appreciate your shout-out to the area's historic inhabitants under Danelaw. We are fans of The Last Kingdom. Happy Christmas to you both!
Another wonderful tour that you have presented us with . What a splendid little town . I enjoyed seeing all the architectural quirks in some of the buildings . The Yorkshire tours have been the best . Please keep up the good work ! Merry Christmas !

Always went there every year growing up. Lots of memories there and you’ve brought back a lot of nostalgia for me!
So nice to read!
Thanks for another wonderful video. Your videos are a great combination of scenery, detail, narration, and information, and all of them make me want to jump on a plane for a visit.
That is what we like to hear! 😊
It is a wonderful fishing village probably my favourite in the U.K. Have a wonderful festive season!
This immediately reminded me of the Pied Piper of Hamelin.
👍😂
Another wonderful tour that you have presented us with . What a splendid little town . I enjoyed seeing all the architectural quirks in some of the buildings . The Yorkshire tours have been the best . Please keep up the good work ! Merry Christmas !
Merry Christmas David!
