    I had an old Rover years, ago, I run it on WVO for a year, no problem, it had a bosch fuel pump so you could put anything in the tank, did 17,000 miles on it, and only put £10 of diesel in on a frosty morning. I changed the fuel filter every one thousand miles which was very simple to do and cost around £8 per time.
    No performance issues apart from a lumpy start when it was frosty, averaged around 60-70mpg on the motorway, engine was quieter, quicker and it smelt nice lol.

    I'm driving a 2001 Toyota Land Cruiser, 2 weeks on, straight vegetable oil, no conversion, no additional additive, just filter, and fill up, and it's driving great!!! No heating needed, no potassium hydroxide, no alcohol, no separation of biodiesel and glycerin.

    Rudolf Diesel said "In a book titled Diesel Engines for Land and Marine Work,[18] Diesel said that "In 1900 a small Diesel engine was exhibited by the Otto company which, on the suggestion of the French Government, was run on arachide [peanut] oil, and operated so well that very few people were aware of the fact. The motor was built for ordinary oils, and without any modification was run on vegetable oil I have recently repeated these experiments on a large scale with full success and entire confirmation of the results formerly obtained."

    Thanks for the diagram, whole thing is 240 so cant see, but found it on your website after typing vegetable oil into the search, great diagram many thanks for that. For others my advice re sourcing if you are happy to filter it is: best bet is probably to offer a small tip to the kitchen porter of some places to take the wast oil regularly: if u have space for it or some of it regularly: helps them, helps you, is the right thing to do unless u find it constantly thrown out for wast collection: which i think it often is in the big vatt containers.

    Thanks for this video as it is pretty good! The diagram is a little unclear here however as there seems to be a blue plastic T connected to the 12v electric inline fuel filter which you sometimes call a glow plug. No mention in your audio. I assume the plastic T is in place of the 3 way solenoid valve. No explanation of the electrics is explained. Does the 12v Electric Inline Fuel Filter is this connected to the switch? How is the relay fuse and thermostat connected? The photo on the wrap around filter heater isn't clear! Any other diagrams?

  • @GoPOOSH
    @GoPOOSH  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yeah, you could be spot on with that. The advice we have been given, which should have been maybe said previously, is stick to Bosch fuel pumps. Avoid brands such as Lucas.. That failing, do some calculations. How much veg oil will you use and at what financial saving will this bring you? Then, how much is a new fuel pump. Ive heard of companies who basically take the cost of a new fuel pump into consideration every year (30,000miles) and still some out on top with the cash saved by using wvo.

Any ideas for a small (say 10-20 hp) lawn mower type bolt on diesal engine that could be used on a motorbike? Gasoline here is about $3.54 / USgallon, and new Canola Oil is $7.34 / USgallon. Beware 3:28 to 3:39. Although vegetable oil emits less NOX emission when used as fuel, using vegetable oil as fuel will not significantly decrease CO2 emissions from your car. Notice how in the video the narrator switched from a concrete measurement of CO2 for diesel to a nebulous figure that he called effective driving emissions for vegetable oil. Search consumer report biodiesel vs diesel vs vegetable oil for an informative article on the subject.

      @Pinzpilot101 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +jesus original Yes....just filter it well...there are vids about it. In the early days of diesel engines a truck would run from London to Glasgow and change the oil there for fresh engine oil...the old stuff went in the tank to be used as fuel on the return leg....these were much simpler engines...hence the need to really filter old engine oil.

    • @philzambo
      @philzambo 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't listen to this guy, used engine oil is full of shit, it will wreck your engine

    • @Pinzpilot101
      @Pinzpilot101 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes old engine oil is full of shit!!! hence the need to filter it.....Also for philzambo, I will add that some engines may not like it? research is the key. I and many others have run old school diesels on mixes of old engine oil, brake fluid, cooking oil, Kerosene, paint thinners, literally if it will burn a diesel will eat it, new or old used filtered oil. Modern electronic and especially common rail diesels will not like strange fuels unless they have been really well filtered and then added to ordinary diesel, this will still cut your fuel bill by thousands of $ per year.

    • @philzambo
      @philzambo 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Stephen Cooper I've ran diesels on waste veg oil for years. Waste engine oil fouls injectors and causes chaos in diesel engines, even if you filter it down to a micron and run it through a centrifuge you won't get the carbon out of it.

    The idea is I get $200 / month to buy food to survive, but no cash for gasoline to fetch the groceries 13 miles away. So if I could build a biodiesal bike, I could cut my fuel expense farther down, leaving my only last bill being my electric bill which sometimes I can also get government assistance to pay. I'd build an electric bike, but lithium batteries are insanely expensive so that is out of the question. I may skip the dual tank and just settle for a 30 diesal / 70 veg mix with no mods.

      My truck takes aprox. 90L of gasoline and lasts around 2-3 weeks. If I buy a 5L vegetable oil container, it lasts me more than a month easily. You might have more waste oil if you run a very big restaurant or food product factory. How many people actually have access to that much quantity of waste oil. This method is not economically feasible until vegetable oil is specifically extracted for this purpose.

      @@AnalystRK you must have been day dreaming when you watched the video.
      There are thousands of places around you that will give you their waste vegetable oil - restaurants, cafes, take away food shops, pubs.. anywhere that uses deep fryers!! And they love to give it to you because they have to pay to get it disposed of.

    Cooking oil emits CO2 just like a diesel engine. And you also emit CO2 no matter what you eat. This video is made by people that don't know what they're talking about 👎
