Here’s why you have become my favorite game TH-camr. I’m 45 and prefer to play on an easier difficulty. So, when you tell me there is a way to make a game that felt broken with how hard I found it can be easier with smarter play I trust in your knowledge and experience. Thank you for this video, I will now add this game to my replay list. Grinding isn’t a problem, what feels like a brick wall is my problem.
I made that same mistake. Didn’t train at all or learn any combos until I fought rat or whatever his name was. Took me almost 2 hours to beat him and realized I needed to train Henry
I tried the game back in 2018 and the leveling system was also a thing I didn’t understand or get. Back then I did not had the patience for it. But now after having played stalker 2 I finally have the patience to play Kingdom Come
I legit just quit stalker 2 cause the main quest was bugged I put 80 hours in and can’t finish it also tried this game back when it came out didn’t have the patience with it but I’m gonna give it another shot in time for the sequel
Happy New Year 🎉 your explanation is so good it did frustrate me at first and was annoying but after practice and patience I got the hang of it my old save got bugged so started a new play through yesterday so far only done two quests and spend the rest of my time practicing and learning skills all my combat skills are now 20 in the new play through so now working on lock picking and herbalism.
outside of my first playthrough i usually go beat on bernard and avoid triggering quests until im 10+ in all combat skills. easy grind, use real weapons to be the first aid master as bernard leaves you wandering around as a beaten mess.
My biggest advice for a new player still struggling in combat after the advice of this video is (if they have "A Women's Lot" dlc) to get Mutt as their companion. You can do this simply by asking Theresa about Mutt when at the mill, he's great help when struggling against multiple enemies.
@@Falloutnewvegas616 You have to put in some serious hours to get skilled enough to fight properly. It can't be emphasized enough that you have to train, train and train some more. This ain't Skyrim!
@Smoshy16 to be fair many people won't play long enough to get to the good parts of the game. It's the classic case of a game getting better several hours in. Most people want to have fun and enjoy any given game from the time they first log in and play. If a game isn't fun for for the first several hours it will turn many away. I bet anything many people quit this game within the first 5 hours or so.
The "combat problem" seems to be the same thing that is holding people back from playing Morrowind, where you have to level up before your hits become effective.
*#1 Tip is: Take your time!!!* If you want too much at once and/or are too hectic, then you will fail. The best example is the fight against Runt. The first time I did it, it took me at least 20 attempts. On later playthroughs - where I took my time (training) - the fight was like stealing a lollipop from a child.^^
Honestly best advice for combat I could give early on is don't attack. Wait for the foe to swing and block them. Only attack when a "Perfect Block" leaves an opening, or after you win a clinch. If you have gained the "Master Strike/Riposte" from Bernard, use defense as your offense. Block, block block. Move your weapon to different positions in relation to their attack, before you block. Find the most damaging "Master Strike/Ripostes" positions. Some are devastating, some just throw the enemy to the side. Until you get level 10 or so in a weapon, all attacking will do is get you destroyed when they riposte or Perfect block you and you are open for a combo of theirs.
For me the number 1 tip is: Don't jump into combat too early. Take time to learn how it works and the best style for you. Don't bite off more than you can chew and take on too many enemies at once.
I started playing finally last week. Iam worried now, i don't think i will have time to finish it until february 4th, but iam loving this game. Been putting all my focus on Locksmith (iam lvl 14 i think). So needless to say iam already filthy rich and so now i can finally play the game, but iam focusing on training my bow skill since i really suck at sword fighting in this game! Really loving this one!!
Why be worried it’s better not to play at launch, play a few weeks after when bugs have been patched and all the REAL reviews are out, I’m also doing a new play through as I didn’t finish it years ago, I will buy the game at launch to support the devs but will not download it for a month or 2.
This man clearly has 20 speech Great video. Even on a replay of the game it gets harder again due to being lvl 1 again at everything. While understanding the game helps you cant overcome some of the low lvl things like Henry's hand shaking at low lvl archery (i am still awfull even at high lvls but thats just me having terrible aim)
First of all Henry is a bourgeois or burgher, as he is the son of a blacksmith. It's a class rank higher than peasant. But regarding the combat... It's not super easy either. It requires timing and understanding the visual ques the enemies are giving you. Even listen to the sound of the combat will help you to time your button mashing. For an example the repose skill should be executed when you hear the sound of the sword parties your enemies weapon. The combat is actually not too far off from a souls game. It's just that there are no boss enemies here. But yes, you can't preform better than the stats Henry has. Having sad that there are weapon combinations that can be quite tricky to pull off for several reasons. Especially those that need 4 chained attacks.
@@Renfail As soon as you learn master strike from Bernard at sword skill 5 you can cheese every fight more or less. That is true, but if you want to master all aspects of the combat system you as a player need skills too.
I think it's actually really funny how Warhorse either inadvertently or otherwise uses the Medieval social model of The Great Chain of Being at its core. Hal begins the game wearing a bandage from a wooden sword blow received by a young woman. By mid-game, he's able to fight against knights and soldiers with years of more experience. Why? It's in the blood! Essentialism manifest.
Great explanation of the mechanics of a piss poor RPG experience If the same mechanic to look around is also the same mechanic used to lock on to a body part, you're gonna get lots of "WHAT THE F VCK ARE YOU LOOKING AT??? YOU'RE IN A GDDAMN FIGHT, YA MORON!! TURN DAFUQ AROUND!!" Got to level 20 in most things before turning to my GF one day and saying "honestly? I'm just not having fun. This feels like a game for people who don't understand how being outside even works"
Dude the explanation of being the skill of Henry is 100% true!
Cheers :)

It's all about training :)
Just suck all that swodplay exp from captain Bernard .. shhhhhhhhhup .. and then suck all the money from dead Kumans 😅😂🎉
Great summary of the game. The progression of skill of the protagonist in this game is one of its strongest points.
Indeed it is!
I made that same mistake. Didn’t train at all or learn any combos until I fought rat or whatever his name was. Took me almost 2 hours to beat him and realized I needed to train Henry
yep! Gotta get him levled up :)

I am following you. Just finished Stalker 2 (awesome game) and now trying Kingdom Come. I hope I like it. Good luck on your playthrough.
@ Thanks, still having fun! I hope you will enjoy the game.

Gotta level him up first, though!
I did this but the stupid dog didn't do anything when so I gave up I even installed mods and the combat still sucks

Lockpicking is one of the most OP skills in the game .. I love how easy ot is after some dedicated training
Gotta get gud :)

keep it up ren, thanks for vid. edit: seeing what you have invested in 1st game, you will be a marvell to watch for first playthrough will be mazing.
Tis the plan!

Going back to skalitz is a treasure trove of loot. Bandits there are tough though.
Lots of fun to be had tho :)
Great summary of how the game works! It's not a game you can rush, but it's a really great RPG that you gotta play slow and proceed gradually.
Absolutely!
It was free today on Epic games store, so this video is very well timed, thanks
Have fun
Arena is a great way to level up/train & make decent coin too !

Training is definitely the most important thing to do at the beginning of the game. Without training Henry/you are useless.
Indeed

If you are on Console. Tape on the TV for the bow is king! Haha
yeah I'm not taping my TV lol
@Renfail haha fair
Lmao I was so bad at this game I had no horse and was quite bad at combat unless it was hand to hand anything else I was baddddd
hehehehe
