  • Tom Holkenborg: Gunnm (銃夢) [Extended Theme Suite by Gilles Nuytens]
First of all, YES, GUNNM! As a fan of the original manga, I hated that they changed the name of the main character from Gally (ガリィ) to Alita. This is nonsense. So, I corrected this here and named my video with the original name. Except this, the movie was very good, but that change of name and title was a real heresy and still cringe my eyes. Hate me as much as you want, but the name is GALLY, ガリィ. Not Alita. G-A-L-L-Y.
This is an extended version of the theme of the 2019 movie adaptation of the manga Gunnm 銃夢 (Officially titled « Alita: Battle Angel ») composed by Tom Holkenborg. This is the original music, extended by myself from the original soundtrack.

Gunnm is the original title of the manga and anime in japan. in usa and germany for example they changed it to battle angel alita from the very beginn. not only for this movie.

Yes and they shouldn't have. At least we could have expected that they would have corrected this heresy, but no...

Jup, agree. when You look how many movie and animetitles they change in usa and in german language generally it annoys me extremly( i live in switzerland). in germany you have almost no chance to watch anything undubbed in cinemas. here i have at least a chance for a subbed version. but for god`s sake at least this movie was decent, i expected the worst. after Gits.@@GillesNuytens

I remember that time, in the French versions of the anime, we also had that "Alita" title but that was because theydidn't bother to check the original, they just took the English version from Manga Video and translated it. Sometimes we even had the English dubbed version subtitled in French. At the time, I refused to watch that. What's the point in watching something that is not the original version and not your own language? If it's to watch with subs, the original version is mandatory, otherwise it's nonsense and NO. However at least, the manga was translated properly with the original title and names.

I remember english dubbed animes in old times, absolutely unwatchable they had approximately 6 different voiceactors in those times now its better but still unwatchable for me. In usa and germany anime and mangas were put in the kiddy shelf and considered as cartoons for kids. I always envyed french/italy and belgium witch took it much more serious. I could watch battleship yamato on the french branch of tv in switzerland. German swiss tv had only heidi and similar lol.

I remember these English dubbed versions from Manga Video. The acting was terrible. And just, why the hell would I watch a Japanese anime dubbed in English when English isn't my first language (and at the time, it was quite basic). I remember too that the Flemish versions were ALL English subbed in flemish/dutch. WTF these lazy guys that doesn't even bother to make stuff properly. Just like watching Star Wars dubbed in Chinese with French (or whatever) subs. Nonsense. Even if of course every anime is sort of "dubbed" in the first place, it just doesn't make any sense to me. The French dubbing of anime like Dragon Ball, Saint Seiya, etc were terrible, not the acting really but the translations. Names were all ridiculously changed (Son Goky becomes "Sangoku"... WTF?). In Star Wars, same, Darth Vader becomes... Dark Vador... In French. Just WTF? Anyway... 80's and 90's were great decades but they had their flaws.
