Hi just a thought why don’t you mark the van position on the driver side that way if your on your own you can pop your head out of the window and see the markers as you re position Tony
Your videos are extremely useful. Realise this is quite old video. And perhaps you've realised by now. Far better to peg drivers side for driving away I put peg in centre of wheel. When coming back. Don't need any assistance or keep getting out. Just stick your head out of window to get it perfect
Does the awning have to connect to the keder rails? Is there a way of having guide ropes for that tunnel that go over the roof of the van and peg to the opposite side? Seems way more logical than having to position the van so accurately...?
Thankyou , You make it look simple! We have A T5 and have just bought a Vango Galli air awning we bought a driveway kit. Do we attach the larger side of the strip to the Van ?
Have received awning, now waiting for delivery of my campervan. Is there any reason why you can't put the wheel pegs and marker line on the driver's side, to make it easier to line up when approaching (and look out of the driver's door window to save dismounting to check alignment)?
would say it would be better to pick up some (rolson) red / yellow webbing strap at the pound shop and mark out around all the wheels and extended back a few feet then you reserve your space on a pitch rather than come back with someone intruding your van space
I think the only reason he didn’t mark the offside wheels is because of the placement of the static camera? What about a mark on centre of bonnet and a hi viz ground stake just high enough to see from drivers seat
I am looking to buy a VW Caddymax, van in the Spring of 2020, primarily for my Pluming and Heating business, but I also want to go away camping in it at weekends, and I was thinking about a ;zip on/off driveaway awning, please can you recommend a suitable selection? cheers dx
David Waterhouse I would certainly recommend getting some kind of a rail fitted to your van (like a multi rail or ‘C’ rail) then you will be able to attach the awning in easily. As I doubt anybody will be sleeping in the van you’ll need an awning with plenty of space for living in, as well as to sleep a couple of people in (if not more). I think the Vango Galli would be a good option, or even the Kampa Touring VW. (Please see the links below) Vango Galli www.attwoolls.co.uk/vango-galli-low-iii-inflatable-awning-2019 Kampa Touring VW www.attwoolls.co.uk/kampa-travel-pod-touring-air-drive-away-vw I hope this helps. What a pain in the arse, i'll stick with my tent. By the time you've played around with pegs, ropes and awning rails, i'd have parked up and be on my second beer!
@@koiman4221 Not just for if you want to nip to the shop tho is it? Its for when you want to go sight seeing....I for one don't want to stay on a camp site all week, I want to go off exploring?
Another excellent video Mike and thanks for your help on Sunday choosing an awning and accessories.
Glad to be of help. :)
Thanks for the advice, shall put that into practice in May at Sandringham Motoring Pageant
I'm camping as we speak, this actually really helped! Thank you!
Great video. Loads of really useful tips.
Looking for a drive away awning at the moment and this video has been great at letting us know how they work. Thanks for sharing!
The best video to explain this process, thank you and well done.
That’s great to hear. We’re glad that you found it useful. 👍
all we could see was a man, a van and a tent, worst video i`ve ever seen
Great instructive vid… thank you 🙏🏻
All good stuff, I like to mark the wheels on the drivers side, then you can look out of the window to line it up.
The close up views were really informative !
"The close up views were really informative !" ----NOT.

Tony
A brilliant suggestion :-)
you beat me too it
the other advantage is it can stay there for the duration of the stay with out being a trip hazzard in the awning
very helpful advice. having problems doing this but will now try again using figure of 8 plastic strips.liked slow careful steps
Thank you for demonstrating this...Just bought an awning for the van...good tips on the stakes by the wheels

first time this weekend, so i will let you know. Video really helpful though

Of course not, it should work just the same.
Nice video For those of us who have never done this
I havent used mine yet, so this is very useful information and tips for me,

Thank you. This is so helpful.
Excellent tutorial, thank you.
Very helpful. I too intend to buy plenty of milk 😅
Great video......really helpful, thank you
Why not put the pegs and marker on the drivers side so he could see them ???🤔🤔🤔
Dennis Lee no door that side?
The awning/van positioning procedure is such a faff. You have a very good point Dennis Lee. I’m going to try this next time out👍
Figure of 8 and a kador strip makes life so much easier. 👍
I guess after all that you won't forget the milk again !!
I think the only reason he didn’t mark the offside wheels is because of the placement of the static camera?
What about a mark on centre of bonnet and a hi viz ground stake just high enough to see from drivers seat
Very handy thanks i will find out next week for my first try
Good straight forward to follow video. Nice one
Very useful tips, but wished you had a camera showing what you did at the back!
ThanQ, very helpful 👍
I think it would have been easier to reverse as shorter distance to judge
Likewise, you can use a reversing camera or just line up in the door mirror. Simples!
I can't find this model of awning Did you say Vango Rome. I can only find tents with that name.
So it was called the Vango Rhone, but is now know as the Vango Galli TC.
@@AttwoollsCoUk thank you again for your prompt reply. Really must try and get to your showroom.
@@lowplainstu that is ok, I’m sure it would be well worth the visit.
Brilliant
Given that it is not often possible to drive behind your pitch it would be better to reverse in using your wing mirrors.
Put pegs on drivers side & stick head out of window. Get it perfect
What awning is that?
It’s the Vango Galli TC air Low, feel free to view via the link below.

You need a Kador strip inbetween much easier
What a pain in the butt system, A stand alone tent would be a better option pure and simple,
thanks,

It would be better to get your milk before you put the awning up ❤️
alan horbury what if you run out? 😂
What if you don't want to spend your entire holiday on the camp site?! 🤦♂️
Not a great video as I cant actually see what you are doing close up!!
Please stop saying sort of. It is or it isnt 😊
Too much hassle just don't forget your milk
then kid move your marker pegs or remove
aw god! Boooooring! No information whatsoever! zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzdx
By the time I've done all that I could have walked to the shop and back
