I really like how smug you look showing off your template. 10/10. Im definitely using this idea, but I think I'll use just standard aluminum T track to save on some money. Looks great man
There are stealth stop blocks for inside the t-track, so if you wanted to get rid of the vertical back, you can! They aren't cheap, but you can setup 3 common stops like your team does on the other rail.
For the dust hood, a couple pieces across the front and attached with magnets will close off alot of that space but be removable for when you want to cut angles
Like the dust hood. Watching while tinkering with my own miter station. It will be done someday. Still haven't built a dust hood. Unfortunately when i do, it will cover a portion of my cleat wall too. Applying a dye to the frame today using Transtint and distilled water.
Oh cool! Yeah, when you do, I would try and do it at an angle as well just so you’re not covering up a lot of your French cleat, more than necessary in the back. I think I’m only actually covering about 12 inches now.
@@BitnerBuilt Meh the roof is just a 10' drop to my deep soft lawn - it's the 5/12 pitch on that lawn to the street 60' below that sucks. @@johnhubbard6262thanks! Yea the ladder is our scary stuff, we try to stay on the roof as much as possible with safety ropes and use the ladder locks on the gutters xso the ladder can’t slide sideways but I have had a guy fall before, luckily nothing broken 😳
I have a Delta Cruzer and I really like it. I would suggest Shop Nation's dust port for it. I have it hooked to my dust collector and it works great. My biggest problem with the system is a tendency to cut the rubber boot for the dust port.
How do you feel about the deflection movement (the saw can move right and left easier than a rod saw) i’ve noticed the shadow wobble right before my cut. Has me concerned about accuracy
@@BitnerBuilt For most cuts, I leave the chassis locked back, and when I have a wide crosscut, I pay special attention to keeping it square. For what I do, which is mostly not-fine-woodworking, I think it works fine, and I particularly like it only taking up the front half of a Paulk style workbench in the middle of my shop. If you look for my name on his site, you can see a shop tour.
Fun build! Really enjoy your videos. Was wondering if you could answer a couple of questions. How deep was the base unit that the Hercules miter saw was mounted to on the original base? How deep is the new base unit upon which you mounted the Delta Cruzer?
My base is 3 ft deep I kept it the same as prior. I needed the 3 foot depth with the Hercules in order to accommodate the rails on the new build because I have deleted the rails and replaced them with the hinges I now have 8 inches to install my 6 inch in-line duct pipe for dust collection right behind it. I’ve actually been really sick and got laryngitis for the past two weeks so that video should’ve already been out weeks ago. 😓 hopefully this or next week.
@@BitnerBuilt Thanks for the reply! Sorry to hear that you haven't been feeling well. I asked the initial question as I have a Dewalt 780 that has a very similar footprint as the Hercules model. Planning to build a miter station and was wondering about a "comfortable" depth for that saw. Love the 780 but the footprint is large. Have considered purchasing an axial glide saw such as the Cruzer to allow some space savings, however, have seen reviews where displacement issues were experienced with those type of saws. Have you experienced any issues with your Cruzer?

@@Scott-gc1mein fact I have, the question is it effecting my cuts (trying to finish up the miter build, build a podcast studio, 3d printer review, laser review and go to CES next week 🤦 all at the same time BUT I’m going to do a full test on it because I “can” make it deflect but the question is once the blades spinning does it keep it in line 99% of the time. So January Feb for that test review
Yea at one point, I had a second smaller miter saw that I kept in the trailer but again it just took up space and was annoying so I got rid of that one. This one I have mounted with a threaded bolt so it’s just unscrew the four bolts to take it out and the easy wings pop off with two hand, nuts, and go in their bag to take with.
I have the g700 also. How are you do you access the main power switch which is on the back of the g700? It will also be difficult to access the variable speed dial and the pressure gauge.
Very cool Justin the easy wings look like an awesome tool . Can’t wait to see it all finished. Thanks for sharing
Thanks, Jim. Yeah, I’m liking them a lot.
Wow, awesome build. I really like that redhouse table design. The new dust collector sits in there just right. Nice video, as usual.🎉🎉
Thanks man! Glad you liked it!

Thanks! And great to have an Austrian viewer! ✌️
Really looks sharp! Your ideas and explanations are really helpful to help see application in my own shop - thanks for posting!
Thanks so much! Yeah, I think it looks really nice in the space, very happy to get more use out of it!
Wow! Nice setup my friend!!
Thanks! Yea I like it!

You know, I have seen those before but totally forgot about them! I’m gonna have to pick some up!
Hi Justin it’s Joel the ride share just wanted to let you know that I’m be watching your videos thanks
Haha hey Joel! Thanks man hope you enjoy!

Yep exactly what I will be doing. But waiting for that to make the new fence. I add dust collection on the fence as well

Same to you!
I've always wondered about those seasonal light installers - especially when I am up trying not to fall off of my roof again.
Yep that pesky falling off the roof is the number one reason people hire us! Be careful out there

Hows the bag for the miter wings?
Pretty nice thick nylon padded with separators to keep them from rubbing against each other. Aditional side pockets for smaller accessories

The speed down pressure gauge aren’t as pushed back as you would think/it looks. I can reach under and grab it without contouring 👍
