  • In the first part of building a new miter station, we look at the differences between an open top layout and a closed space that is mostly drawers and cubbies for containers and tools. This is part 1 of 4 in the miter station & dust collection rebuild.

    Andy Mac at the Gosforth Handyman made a brilliant mitre station thingy you really should see. Awesome, cheap and portable. My favourite things all in one. Well worth a look. Interesting share, thanks.

      Thanks! Took a look, cool build. Mine is much more permanent fixture in the shop with break away features for on the job site (when we do commercial light jobs. I usually need to take my miter saw with me.)

      @@BitnerBuilt That is cool. I must admit I find your videos very interesting. Although way beyond the scope of my shop in size and capacity for shelving. I like adapting with time/experience/changes in need etc. Thank you for sharing. Can't wait to see what you came up with.

    Awesome Video, Justin. Can’t wait to see part 2 . Questions for you, you were using a yellow square thing to space your French cleat. What was the yellow square. Just got done installing 3/4 walls in my shop and now get ready to do the French cleats . I know have so good ideas thanks to your videos.

    Had to stop right after the wall brackets and come to make a comment real quick.
    Those plywood verticals should have been put right next to the brackets so you don’t have that wasted space in the middle of the compartment. You could even do a 1/2” one on each side instead of a single 3/4” so you could add shelves later if you wanted. Could even add a face frame to cover if you wanted.
    Now, back to watching the rest of the video.

    I like the new open concept. Definitely looks better than before & before the change, it looked good too. @15:47, wouldn't putting drawls (like Tamar 😂 from 3x3) block any chance of you using that adjacent french cleat space for more tools on the wall, to allow for the "drawl" to slide open?

    • @BitnerBuilt
      @BitnerBuilt  22 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      This is true 🧐 I will have to think about how I’m going to use that, I already figured I wouldn’t want to place things right in front of the cubbies as it would make getting items harder but have to think on it!

    The only concern I'd have is the saw dust getting into everything now that your box is removed from around the miter saw? It's the only reason I keep all of my chargers and electrical stuff away from my miter saw. Have you used the miter much yet with the new approach? Good build, nonetheless!

    • @BitnerBuilt
      @BitnerBuilt  วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      In the next field, when I build the station, I will be rebuilding the box around it, but it’s gonna be a self standing floating box that will have the sign all removable by either magnets or some sort of latch. I decided yet I also have an idea for a new custom fence on the miter saw to help with dust collection That I’ll implement afterwards so we’ll see how it goes, but yeah box enclosure is definitely needed

    Love the new miter station area look,organization,and convenience of tools. I've just purchased the Hercules miter saw myself ,and am planning a miter station myself. I'm planning a miter cart that could be rolled into the miter station majority of the time. But could simply raised onto its casters and pulled out and rolled into other areas, fold up wings for when I have longer cuts. Or just want to work outside. I'm not able to tote the beast around any more. But very interested in seeing what you and others come up with. I've compiled many ideas from you tubers to make a setup of my own that will work for me. Thumb 👍. Thanks again for new ideas.

      Awesome! You know the Hercules miter saw I think is honestly the best on the market, it has every feature that you could possibly one at a third of the price of what everybody else is selling theirs for. I’ve owned this one for four years now and it’s great.

    I like the open concept. I do better being able to see my stuff and where it should go. I also have the larger open table on my miter saw station. It's good to be able to use it as a work table when not using the saw. Continue on with the open concept! Well done!
