- This crash site is a solemn location. DO NOT SCRATCH SWASTIKA SYMBOLS INTO THE PLANE!!!

Absolutely love D'Aguilar. Nice and close to Brisbane with some beautiful areas for hiking (and some gnarly ones!)
Know this area very well!!
I once did the goat track at night in a VW Golf, was told it was easy enough, by the time I realised I was in for a ride I was already halfway through. I’ve done the hike to Kobble Creek a number of times, beautiful part of the world there.
The crazy goat track... I'll have to do it fully one day. Keen to get to Kobble Creek to explore that soon!
There used to be a bower from a Bowerbird on that track. The catbird is a variety of Bowerbird. The plane is actually upside down on its roof. Look forward to the bush bashing video 😄
Didn't know that about the bowerbird. Hopefully can finish the other video tonight or tomorrow. :)
Can't wait for the video of the rest of the trip!
Probably tonight or tomorrow it'll be up. Thanks for watching :)
As a police cadet our training included bush orientation to this plane n 1977
Excellent audio of the green catbird. It's one of my favourite sounds in the rainforest. They are actually of the bowerbird family but the males don't build a bower. The Piper Commanche Route markers were installed by QPWS because of the high number of people getting lost in this area. Police were sick & tired of having to walk round & round looking for them. This particular ridgeline that runs up to Mt D'Aguilar is one of the easiest & simplest routes to hike, so I can only assume they got lost following that ridiculous pink tape that use to be all over this route in different directions on trees as well as the ground & is becoming more & more frequent throughout the bush & rainforest. I regularly hike throughout D'Aguilar & try to remove as much pink tape as I can. It's just pvc pollution that's not biodegradable. If people can't hike without using pvc pollution then they should go with someone who knows how to navigate or stick to well graded tracks. The wreck story is quite a sad one isn't it. It's just a pity Paul didn't stay the night with his friend at Harrison's Pocket instead of trying to get back to Archerfield before dark. So those ferals that feel the need to graffiti the wreckage, they should remember that someone died in that plane on a stormy evening all alone, whether instantaneously or hours later no one knows. They should show some respect & stop treating it as some sort of trophy.
Thanks for that info about the markers. Didn't realise how many people were getting lost!
Great to see you back in D'aguilar Jel. Great vid! Looked like a great day for a hike.
It was a great day, mate! Keen to check out some of the other trails there soon.... especially the Kobble Campsites.
Thank you for the video 😊
My pleasure my friend. Hope you're doing well!
Koala mating is the sound.
Turns out that the sound was the Green Catbird..... I've also heard Koala mating sounds, and it isn't pleasant! 😂
Great Vid Mate, I love the sounds of Whip birds. Great POC Shot, You Da Man.
The baby crying sound is a green catbird.
ive hiked mt d aguilar via a trib of cedar ck from sth east exploring waterfalls!
That's cool, Mark.... I think I followed that same Trib when I ascended Mt D'Aigular. I'll show it in the video when I edit it. :)
Catbird lol. Surprised you haven't heard before!
Every hike is another lesson of how much I don't know.... School is still in session for me😂
@@jelbuilderfilms you've learned plenty! I often hear them at binna burra. Such a crazy sound!
Hey John what was the item you used to light your jetboil?
That little ripper of a tool is called a Fire Starter Keychain.... and it's a great little camping gadget to have. Here's the link where I bought mine from: s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DETHjMn
Have you done the Mount Superbus + The Lincoln Bomber
Yeah but it was 4 years ago, and I never owned a gopro at the time so the footage was a bit crap... Here's the vid th-cam.com/video/AxhIjz6JQOg/w-d-xo.html
I'll need to go back and refilm it. 😊
Maybe That Guy Who Was Walking, Maybe His Wife Kicked Him Out Of The Car For Saying Brisbane Wrong. Did You Find Any Remotes In That Area/ I Always Wondered Where Lost Remotes Ended Up. This Trail Reminds Me Of When I Hiked In Manado Indonesia When We Lived There. Baby Yowie For Sure, They Can Shape Shift into A Animal Or Bird. Weird How There Are No Damaged Looking Trees From When That Plane Crashed.
You're right... they have all these signs about the Remotes, and I couldn't see a single one! Trust me, I looked! Yeah, I think the Baby Yowie for sure :)
Yeah! First to like, first to comment! Interesting video! Maybe I've got a TH-cam additction problem!
Lol, thanks heaps. Maybe time to go to sleep? 😂
Great and informative episode.
Do you know why there are so few jokes about the Jonestown mass suicide?
The punchlines are too long.
could be a liarbird or bowerbird mimicking
a babys cry.
It's actually a Green Catbird.... now I can never 'unhear' it. :)
Unfortunately I don't think lyrebirds are found in this area. You're right though about the bowerbird as the call is from a green catbird; the only bowerbird that doesn't build a bower.
