I did most of this ride (in one direction) a couple of months ago, Redbank to Brisbane City. But I was on the other (north) side of the railway line from Redbank to Wacol; there's a cool playground shaped like a paddle steamer where the Brisbane and Bremer rivers meet near Goodna.
Solid ride! Loving these local adventure videos! The Brisbane side of the route is such a great commuting route whilst Ipswich definitely has work today. Living in Springfield, commuting was faffy near home, once on the centenary it was great!
I've got a set of spoons just like that one 😂 Happy New Year, a big thanks for making the Brisbane bikepath vids in 2024. Gave me some new options for my urban rides 👍
Happy New Years John🎉 Thanks for showing us around on your bike ride. Really really appreciate it! Bike ride with you is the best TH-cam experience for me.
Hey John, Cool Vid Mate, I think I lost 5kg just watching you. All the way to Ipswich, "TheSwitch" is cool. I have done the centenary path from Corro to Ipswich road, I thought the Jindalee Bridge was a bit cringey, that railing was low and it's along way down the the river. But it was a great path, I did it on a Saturday and it was quite busy.
Mate another great vid, keep them coming, they are really inspirational. I can't seem to find the small gas bottle from the link provided, it looks amazing
Thanks, glad you're getting something out of them! Re the micro gas bottle, here's the link: s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_oBueApD Basically, it's part of a Gas Candlelight camping accessory - but I simply remove the gas cylinder part of the kit and use purely for these types of occasions. You can't buy the micro cylinder on its own... but it is great. It holds around 12g of butane gas and will get around 10 minutes of burn time out of it which is heaps for boiling water.
Mate thank you so much for getting back to me, I really appreciate it. Hope to see you on the trails some day as I am a Logan local too, so it's so great to see local content.
Happy New Year. You made it to Ipswich and back. Well done! Good edit of such a long ride too. I might be biased as you rode past the street in Riverview where I grew up.
Don't even have to be at Redbank Plains to be mugged, had a group of Islanders hollering me over whilst riding through Smiths Rd going towards Redbank way. Good thing I was on the road and not the footpath! Also, damn I knew I should've had a ride on New Years, might’ve bumped into you. Good video as always!
Happy New Year to you too, Bat. I'll see if I can muster up a train ride with my bike.... will see. Yet to figure out a new way for Magpie defence on my new helmet. :)
It's quicker and simpler if you went across the rail lines at Wacol and down Wilruna Street instead of cross the highway over the bridge.. The road goes all the way to Riverview. Then you cross back the other side at River Road near the Dinmore Station. Then I get off Brisbane Rd at Byrne St Ebbw Vale and turn left immediately onto the bike track. At Bundamba Station ride up Creek, left into Nimmo, right into Wattle which becomes Jacaranda, left into Blackall, follow King Edward Parade and Bremer, and boom you're in the CBD. I ride up and down that road every day on a pushy. 25 km to Darra. Just under an hour on the eBike.
Unfortunately, no... there's no safe way to bike from Logan to Ippy. I wish there was. The difficulty is getting from Browns Plains across to the Centenary Bikeway or the IMB. Johnson Road at Browns Plains is too dangerous (although you can ride safely until Paradise Rd, but that's it).... and going via Springfield Greenbank Arterial to Springfield is too dangerous also for cyclists. Hopefully, one day the infrastructure will get built on Johnson Rd, but the government ain't in no hurry for cyclists. :)
26 min video ..first settled brisbane was a penal colony so free settlers lived in LIMESTONE [later ipswich} and they quarryied limestone from the hill to yransport to building gaols etc in brisbane.. the trees on top i have no idea sorry....
@@jelbuilderfilms Yes indeed, Ipswich was called Limestone Station, an outpost of the penal colony where lime was mined and transported down the Bremmer and Brisbane rivers to build the colony.

I'll need to go back to see that steamer!
Great video John. You we're soo close to my house at Booval and I didn't even get to say hello 🙂
So close, yet so far! 😅 Hello.... (one week later, lol)
Loved the ride with you. Great New Years trad, big bike ride. 🎉❤ Happy 2025

Happy New Year to you too! More adventures to come...
26:26 I lived in Ipswich for about 10 years and I never knew there was a path up that rock pile.
I've got a set of spoons just like that one 😂 Happy New Year, a big thanks for making the Brisbane bikepath vids in 2024. Gave me some new options for my urban rides 👍
My pleasure! Every one of these spoons is unique, lol.
Happy New Year John. Thank you for your videos. Take care. :)
Thanks so much Colin!

You too, Sandra! Was the perfect day for it. :)
Happy New Years John🎉 Thanks for showing us around on your bike ride. Really really appreciate it! Bike ride with you is the best TH-cam experience for me.
And a big Happy New Year to you too... thanks for joining me again. :)
Happy New year!✨✨ wow! I haven’t seen the roads that quiet for a long time. Awesome time to be out and about.
Happy New Year to you too! It's definitely my favourite day of the year to go for a ride.
Big ride, good video. Happy new year 🎉

It certainly is a low railing there... I need to explore Ipswich more. I might find a mineshaft or two in there...😅

Lol, I loved that Woogaroo Creek is a beautiful Brisbane brown. 😅
Hey John, I'm out on my GP1800 I'll give you a Thumbs Up now & watch tonight when I get home ... Cheers mate 👍
Is the GP1800 a Yamaha jetski??
@jelbuilderfilms Yeah John ... Had a Sea-Doo Spark before that 👍

Yeah, crazy stuff happening these days. New Years Day is the best day for a ride in my opinion. Thanks for watching!!
Nice Bike Ride. You Forgot To Put Your Mag Pie Protection On Your New Helmet. That Would Be Cool To See A train Ride. Happy New year Mate.

Yes, I think I realise that now - but for my first ride out this way, it was fun exploring :)
@@jelbuilderfilms That ride along the river I said is a lot of fun. And there's places to pull up and have lunch near the river.
Do you know any safe way to get from Logan to Ipswich on bike?

No helicopters, you should look for car crashes haha :P
No wrong there, Marky... maybe that needs to be my next challenge.... car wreck exploration!
@jelbuilderfilms u might find some wrecks back of logan haha!

@@DavoTheDalek I think it might have been called "Tulmur" for quite a while before that, just saying, that's all..T
