I think Maya is wonderful sharing her experiences in Portugal with those of us who are interested and like to follow her. She creates beautiful, careful, balanced videos. Wouldnt it be lovely if people gave their comments as much care and thought as she does for her videos.
A tip from my carpenter friend. To obtain a proper right angle, smooth cut on timbers or any angle you desire (45) one can orient the circular saw blade on the desired cut line then place your set square alongside the saw base/plate and proceed to cut. The set square keeps the blade aligned at the desired angle
@mayafeliz Thanks for replying to me Maya. Any chance you'd be interested in marriage to a tall, slim, average looking Englander? I try to play guitar, own my own house, but live with my sister in London?!?🤔 I am trying to get back to rambling and cycling? Due to injury and loss of confidence😪 If not, I will still watch your programmes!!!😁❤️
You might want to insulate that spout too, because the faucet can freeze too, someone I watch in Italy, used a heating pad, for plants to keep his batteries warm through winter. Inside his pump house
Wow you are amazing. The things you have learned hey . You do use different building materials that I would hear in Canada. I’m about to start building my own cabin in the wilderness from scratch let’s say . Using my back and the trees from the wilderness. You did a spectacular job . Good luck I’ll be watching
Remember to do your annual maintenance of the tankless water heater. Check with the manufacturer for specific details such as descaling the heat exchanger, cleaning the filter, cabinet, igniter plug, flame sensor, and using compressed air to blow out the burner and gas orfices.
In the past, when I did not have heating in my kitchen, I put a red stone flower pot upside down over the gas flame on my cooking flame, and it turned red as it got warm, so I had a kitchen heater from it..
Lots more work done and so good to have a family member help. Maya your land Is transforming into a beautiful tranquil place. I love the sound of the river. 💚
So where I live we use deep valve spigots for outdoor water in sub freezing conditions. This puts the handle at easy reach but the water & valve is a foot or more below ground level. This prevents lines from bursting as water freezes. What you've done here I fear is just insulated the water already between the ground & valve 1m above ground height. That insulation will only keep in the heat or lack of it already in the pipe. How cold it gets in the winter will greatly effect the success or failure of this retrofit. I hope it works for you but honestly I feel the underground spigots will burst with what you have for now.
Hi Maya, you guys accomplished so much together, congratulations! My understanding of wood for burning is, that it ideally needs to dry completely for two years in order to get the most efficient burning from it. If you dry it that long, it will for much longer. If you can find some scrap variegated roofing (the wavy metal or plastic stuff) from your property or from a neighbour to cover the wood, and then stack the wood with lots of space for air to pass through, it will dry more thoroughly and you’ll get much better results for your fires. Anyway, there’s lots of information online, I’m sure, so you can check out if I’m right on that 😂 Oh, and my parents had a fan on their wood stove and it was super effective.
Maya you could be heating up your water on top of your wood stove instead of using gas. You would be surprised how quickly it starts to boil! You can cook on top of your stove too. We have an actual wood oven and it has saved us so much money! We use one gas bottle a year..maybe two..no kidding.. but yours has a nice flat surface too you can use too which will work just as great! Good to save some money for more lovely trees for your beautiful project 😊😊xxx
At 6:06 minutes in..... what a beautiful blessing, see the play of light shine upon you both!!!!l the 2 of you working so fluidly together makes me smile. Favor to you, Maya!
You could wrap something like plastic foil around the outside of the tree fence.. The light goes true the foil. The call it house hold foil.. But you can get it in big rolls the use it for packageing pallets. So the trees won't have it cold
I loved seeing the bonfire with your family there. What a lovely way to celebrate. I would also suggest some type of insulated cover for your actual water taps.
It's always nice to have help and doing things is more fun. A battery powered wheelbarrow would be extremely beneficial for the chores around your steep hillside property. Great video!
Maya you are the most hard working amazing caretaker of the beautiful land. So kind , yet strong. I hope young people will find videos like this! You embody hope for the future. Well done Love!
Hello Maya ; very good work ! As your land is very steep ; why not a skymule for the loads to drive home ? working in team : one at the river , one at home ...... or with a fill in - fill out water counterweight remember , taps & connectors can also freeze
Those wooden boxes looks terrific! Generally though , you don’t have to worry about hose pipes freezing until the temp reaches low twenties and if you are unable to insulate, you can just let the water run at a trickle and it won’t freeze because running water is very hard to freeze. Your friend and helper is terrific, I hope you cooked a hearty meal for him and tucked him in happily . Merry Christmas!!
Congrats on another great video of hard work, daily progress on tasks big and small, organizing the chaos, and pushing away the cold to hold the warmth. I love your and Valentine's energy and vibe, Maya. Wishing you joy! ❤ Lee
Hey Maya, so fun to watch your channel and see this place unfold into your very own paradise! Haven't yet watched this one as I'm only slowly catching up with your whole series of videos and excited to get to the present day developments... I love your little dances and singing to your plants, the inclusion of flower buds and all the other life forms on your property as well as cloud images in your videos - radiating your joy about small achievements and appreciation for the moment... And it always makes me chuckle when I hear you say "strimming" - today went onto "Leo" to see if they've added this as a new word creation and someone actually commented on their website: "thanks a lot, we would say Kunstwort... leo shoult add this". In Australia, the string trimmer is called "whipper snipper" which I find a lovely descriptive word. Re dam building, I saw a comment on one of your videos by a Portuguese woman who cautioned about water rights/ flow regulations re your idea of building a dam in the river - hopefully this is still ok in your area! Have you watched any of Charles Dowding's videos on No Dig Gardening? It is so fantastic how quickly you can get a full kitchen garden to produce in no time at all that way... The wild boar might however make it tricky for you to establish a garden that you will end up getting any harvest from for yourself - looking forward to seeing you tackle that challenge with your bright combination of patience, endurance and planned action! 🐗 😊 Keep those inspiring videos coming!!! 🎉
It makes work much easier and fun with someone else to help, doesn't it Maya! The guys have to work hard to show you up!! Valentine has been a really big help. His work ethic is like yours. All of the guys have been helpful. Your river looks so clean. Have you tested all of your water? They must take water pollution very seriously in Portugal. I wish they did in Canada. Because of your vlog, I have read about the history of Mimosa in Portugal. I read that one has to get rid of the roots to get rid of the trees! That sounds impossible, when they are so bad as they are on your lot. Too bad. If anyone can find a way to get rid of them, you can! This was a great post. Can't wait for the next one!! Thank you.
Will you place an incandescent light in the pump house for heat on the cold times? I noticed one person mentioned spigots being below ground for freeze protection. Here in the Southern United States our freeze line is 6 inches below ground. The spigots mentioned before require a below ground drain and gravel or sand runoff area. I am a master plumber in South Carolina, United States. I enjoyed your videos!
Question If you have a free flowing river with heat, why not use ground source heat pump? Or is the lack of electric power a problem to keep going, you could charge batteries if you're solar is ample area to cover all you're electricity requirements
Great video, and to have family to help you with all the chores around your property that need doing. I see that you had a rope, that’s good news to tie it onto the front of the wheel guard in the front of your wheel barrow. One pull from the front using the rope, while the other holds the wheel barrow to steer and steady the load, and help push it. The person pulling the rope in front must be at least 3 metres from the wheel barrow, not to catch the back of your feet. Also cutting your logs down to point six to 1 metre lengths will make it a lot easier to use the barrow. Later you could invest in a donkey
Good To see all the work you are doing miya especially with the volunteers helping you out. Love seeing the finished projects. Keep up the great work ❤
Another great video Maya! Great to have help and company. How many languages do you speak? My goodness, I think I have heard at least 3 watching your videos. You are so talented and such an inspiration!
Maya I’m so happy that you have a full time companion on the homestead with now. The both of you seem to get along very well
This guy has good carpentry skills! My what a tiny stove. I love that every person you bring in has a different set of skills to offer you.
Y'all are so cute together... Good chemistry between the two of you, so hopefully y'all fall for each other . It's the season for love!
I think Maya is wonderful sharing her experiences in Portugal with those of us who are interested and like to follow her. She creates beautiful, careful, balanced videos. Wouldnt it be lovely if people gave their comments as much care and thought as she does for her videos.
Valentin seems like a great guy to have around. I really enjoyed the video of you both working together!
The changing face of your home is constant. Wonderful.
It's great to have someone to help.
That's the kind of grapes they use to make ice wine, I use to get it when I was stationed in Augsburg.

Maya! You need insulation in your roof space.😊 All of your roof should be covered in frost. Which would be a good sign, that it is well insulated.😊
Thanks for the reminder, as I live in it I feel every day that the roof needs to be insulated 😄
@mayafeliz Thanks for replying to me Maya. Any chance you'd be interested in marriage to a tall, slim, average looking Englander? If it gets really cold, a good working method is to leave the water dripping as the insulation cannot be enough.
Great episode!
You both work well together, and you have achieved so much. You are a machine Maya! Love your endless positive attitude

Yes it's so nice to have help🥳
An extra set of hands is so nice!
Will V.stay all the time with you? He is a very hard worker and a very good company for you,Maya.
Let's see, but I agree he's hard working and fun to be around 😊
They make a good couple
You need to make icewine from those frosted grapes🍇 ❤.
Yaaaay, you have a great helper! Everything just keeps improving, and looking better and better. Thank You for sharing!❤

Good morning from the UK! Watching with our coffee ☕️ you’re amazing!

I would never say the pumphouse is wonky...it looks very need and professional.
Thank you! It is a real teamwork pump house 😄

Hello, dear Maya! Thank you for a new video!) So are you going to stay for the whole winter season now ? :)
Could put clear plastic on outer edge of the of young walnut trees to protect against frost
You could wrap something like plastic foil around the outside of the tree fence.. The light goes true the foil. The call it house hold foil.. But you can get it in big rolls the use it for packageing pallets. So the trees won't have it cold
I've been binge-watching your videos and I'd have to say this is my favorite!❤
Nice video! No shortage of good looking guys wanting to help Maya!
The surviving grapes are the sweetest. Ice wine!
❤ schön zu sehen, das wir noch junge Menschen haben, die anpacken können und mit ihren Händen etwas aufbauen können
TOTORO! 🤎
a day were Maya updates us on her progress is a good day. Great Video, thanks!
It is great for you to have some company that is such a hard and versatile working company. Keep up all the laughter. It is good for you. Penn. USA.
It was great to see you had someone to help you out, Valentine was also good company for you and you got so much done together. Nice work 👍😊💗💗
You need to add a very small thermostatic heater in pump house or at least a incandesant light bulb to stop it freezing.
I loved seeing the bonfire with your family there. What a lovely way to celebrate. I would also suggest some type of insulated cover for your actual water taps.
Wie immer ein tolles Video :)
Wobei das Grundstück natürlich ein Traum ist. 😉
Winterizing, insulating, gathering firewood. Time to watch a movie.
It's always nice to have help and doing things is more fun. A battery powered wheelbarrow would be extremely beneficial for the chores around your steep hillside property. Great video!
You need a wood shed to dry the wood out 🔥☺️
I just love spending my Sunday mornings with your videos. 😊
So very nice to see that life is going along with you and all that your learning along the way, take care.Noreen. Australia 🦘
Das habt ihr zwei sehr gut gemacht 👏👏👏 Es wird wohnlich bei Dir und schön warm. 👋🇨🇭
How nice of your family friend to come help you so much!!

I love all your wonky little (and big) houses!
💙
Maya, save some of that burn for the compost ❤
Maya... Valentin matches you.. I said the same thing when my son in law met my daughter!! He's adorable!!
Oh and make sure to drip the taps so they dont freeze more that insulation wont work on colder nights and days
Morning from the Algarve Maya. It's a bit warmer down here. Look forward to your video every week. Thankyou for posting such lovely content. X
You can also buy a polystyrene box cover for your water taps too. It'll protect the water inside the valve from freezing and expanding.
Wrap the shrubs with burlap for winter. Use some wood to build a bridge across the narrow part of creek
Congrats on another great video of hard work, daily progress on tasks big and small, organizing the chaos, and pushing away the cold to hold the warmth. I love your and Valentine's energy and vibe, Maya. Wishing you joy! ❤ Lee
Thank you Lee! Organizing chaos is so satisfying :)
Bravo Maya❤

Nice to see you again on my Sunday morning with my coffee. Great job! Love from 🇨🇦
Nice job you both did there! I love the sound of water and the sound of wood burning. Vielen Dank für das Video!
Nice job. Really coming together.
What a lovely video great teamwork. Greetings from 🇬🇧🐈🌻
Great job on the firewood.😊
You make eiswine from frosen grapes. Sweet dessert-drink
Walnut trees are hardy, it will survive, here in Iowa we get - 35° in winter, and every spring it comes back
super travail encore ; bravo!
Looks like you are in a frost pocket. I live in one in Wisconsin. Cold air drains down to the river valley, dropping the temp below freezing.
Are you going to build a new railing for your balcony
Another great video Maya! Great to have help and company. How many languages do you speak? My goodness, I think I have heard at least 3 watching your videos. You are so talented and such an inspiration!
Thanks for posting and sharing.
Que trabalhadores 😊 muitos parabéns
Você poderia fazer um deck da casa para alguma vista bonita.
good job i ill try to do the same when go back to Portugal .. Greetings from Brazil
Alot of work is ticked off the list again🎉🎉🎉
Would it be possible to insulate the cabin with a material that you could either paint or plaster? 4:59
Yeap, Portugal it's cold. But i know from experience that Germany it's way "stranger" related to weather. In one day you have the four seasons 😁😊
🎄💚🎄 Thanks for sharing 🎄💚🎄
I'm so hsppy for you. I wish you all the best 😘😘😘😘😘🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Did I sense chemistry between the two of you.. lol!! Love you so much .. I’m enjoy watching you
