    This is so cool to see an engine get broken down. Can you make an engine build to start video? I want to see an engine you tore down, get rebuilt and started and driven. Love your videos!

    Thanks for this information. I just bought a very nicely kept 2011 Audi Q5 with 133,000 kms on the engine. Yes, one week owning it and it definitely consumes oil. Looks like its going to be two bottles on one tank of gas, but no blue smoke. I bought the extended warranty, and now I am in negotiating with the dealer to get the pistons and timing chain replaced. Any information to help me along would be great, I am facing a battle here with the dealer, because I won't settle for anything else than an updated engine with the new parts. Thanks man.

    So should the sieve screen stay in the oil pump? I know you have removed screens from the balancer shafts, I think? So what is the reasoning for whomever didn’t replace the screen? Did they forget or is it for more oil pressure with the old style slotted rings? This is a great tutorial video of the bottom end and rods/pistons .. wow $800 in pistons.. I’m really looking forward to seeing this 2.0 getting reassembled and timed.. I hope you show it great video!!!! 👍🏻

    I've found those types of fasteners will strip out just as easy using a hand tool if they are. Same with the 6mm allen fasteners. In fact i recon the rattle gun is better as it either does just crack them with the rattle.
    I've rounded just as many by hand if not more. The allens are not so bad as if they strip you just hammer a 12 point (triple square) in them. If the 12 points strip they are bit more hard. Often have to cold chisel them lose.

    Everybody on the forums are wondering if the 2016's have the final ring design or not. Make sure to make a video so we know if ANY FACTORY B8.5's had the final ring design, or if they are all ticking timebombs to huge consumption

    Just came across your videos. They are very informative. GREAT!
    I've got a 2015 Q5 with a 2.0 engine (118k miles on it) drinking 1 qt. Of oil every 200 miles...
    I've rebuilt engines in the past but never the lower end of an audi. I have a couple questions. The car runs perfect so if I take it apart and see it has the updated pistons would it be fine just to clean them up and reinstall them?
    Or if I end up having to replace the pistons with the waffle rings does the block need to get honed to seat the new rings. I have seen videos where you replace the pistons but don't mention honing. Does it not need it or am I missing something?
    I would really appreciate your advice. Thank you for all your help and please keep making GREAT videos.

      @Hermelindo Marquez - Hey, totally agreed. His content is GREAT! It's what gave me the confidence to pull my 2.0T a couple of weeks ago to do an oil consumption correction rebuild. From what I gathered through many of @NaptownTuner's videos, there doesn't necessarily need to be any machining of the head surface, or honing of the cylinder walls, if there is no visible (or you can feel) scoring or marring.
      I did not hone or machine mine and it went back together great - I have about 175mi on it since rebuild and everything runs smoothly (and I have power again!). Mine was also using about 1qt every 200mi. I decided to go with Wossner forged pistons because they have an awesome waffle ring setup, and they retain the 21mm wrist pin of the OEM rods!! That's a huge savings, plus they are way cheaper than OEM pistons/rings. wossnerpistons.com/products/9487

      @@TimJeter What size pistons did you use? I'm getting ready to order some for my A6 Quattro to solve this issue as well

    • @TimJeter
      @TimJeter ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheBMXRider719 - hey there. I would suggest that you certainly double, triple, even quadruple check what engine code you have to see what model it is. For mine, the (2010) CAEB engine, so I used the stock 82.5mm. The 83.0mm is only there if you need to re-hone the cylinder walls and go slightly oversize. Thankfully I had no scoring issues with my cylinder walls - it was all attributed to the faulty gummed up oiling rings.
      For the Wossner pistons specifically, I would reach out to their US rep. When I called they were very knowledgeable and knew exactly what I would need (which confirmed my own research).

      @@TimJeter how are things running one year later?

    • @TimJeter
      @TimJeter 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@thedailydayle - after an additional 7,500 miles, absolutely fantastic! The full carbon clean did as much for the engine's performance as anything. I just sold the Avant 2 weeks ago to a very enthusiastic buyer who's in the process of modifying to a Stage II upgrade - Integrated Engineering tune, downpipe, intake and intercooler. Car is still running strong and solid.

    Hello, i have a 2009 A4 2.0 tfsi, cdnc, and i'd replace the pistons what would u recommend since the most revised pistons only come with 23mm pins, is it then best to get those newest pistons and change the rods aswell or try to find pistons with 21mm pin and only change them since thats more affordable.

    When I got my new rods I didn't realize you actually had to break them apart... I thought they were unfinished. Ive worked on cars my whole life and never came across that before. Not sure many people realize the caps fit perfect because you have to break them apart and they will only fit one rod ever.
