@@DelgatoMediaStudioand how do u think that's the same thing? A lit ember would have more volume and more heat then a cigarette and inside your home is alot more confined then being outside..
Had this demonstrated to me by my neighbor mechanic who had a little tin cup of gasoline he used as solvent...and would extinguish his cigarettes in it to freak people out. A smoldering cigarette isn't enough to ignite the liquid, but if you just took a drag it's much hotter...hot enough to, if nothing else, generate a little more vapor in the moment it's near gasoline which is FAR easier to ignite. At the end of the day, is it really worth taking any risk around gasoline for a smoke when you can just avoid it entirely and either have a cigarette before you know you're going to get gas or just after...or even both?
Research has shown that cigarettes are less likely to catch fire from heat sources. However, I think it would be the coolest thing if we could actually ignite gasoline vapor using the heat source of the cigarette.
This is the video that was linked to me for why it is now considered safe to flick lit cigs in the direction of the fuel pumps. I was told that if I don't like that policy that I don't need to shop there, but just asking ... how much warmer does a cig get when it is flying through the air? As a side note, I complained after being hit in the face with a lit cig, customers are suppose to not get in the way at Sunoco gas stations of the employee's discarded cigs.
So your issue wasn't with the lit cigarette near gas pumps but rather having a lit cigarette flicked in your face. Weird that you would have a video completely irrelevant to your issue sent to you
Which is weird because the video says that the act of smoking the cigarette takes it well above the temperature needed to light the gas on fire. The low risk is only for a lit cigarette on its own, not one being huffed. Which the end of this video ignores completely and gives validation to ignorant smokers by telling them it's safe
@@YantisOm I talked with the owner about a month ago, he is fairly apathetic to any concerns about his employees causing fire hazards near the gas pumps. Although I suspect that might have something to do with an impending divorce that he has. But yeah, the manager there is a science guru and is quite firm that cigs do not cause fires when discarded near gas or other burnable materials ... such as hay, paper or petro products. Although I'm still trying to sus out what a science guru is.
Cigarettes used to be fairly good at igniting beds and couches, why not gasoline? They were modified in some way so that they 'go out' when not being sucked on.
Yes, when you drag the cigarette and by holding it in the same spot for a few seconds, in closed space. It's almost impossible to ignite gasoline in a opened space, without dragging the cigarette
Nope still won't. You can smoke and work on a gas tank. Nothing will happen. My grandpa would throw cigarette in gas tanks to scare people. He learn that in the army. gas it not as flammable as you think. Either is diesel or propane. And nitro will put out a fire
I believe what we are watching here is shopped. It is extremely unlikely that a cigarette ember would ignite any gas vapor. Yes does research. With gasoline for instance 2000 attempts to ignite gasoline with a cigarette failed. Stranger things have happened but does not seem real.
What people thinks that will happend if you smoke in a gas station (the problem is not the cigarette but the lighter flame or red hot resistor that can ignite the gas fumes)
No it' doesn't I worked at gas station and tried it several times. Gas needs open flame.
love the fact you tried it 😂
I almost burned my house pouring gas over some wood in the stove! It lit from an ember from the previous night! So, don't bet your life on it!
you tried several times? haha true G

its scary how you dont understand basic physics, and a fooled by a fool

Quite true, I've seen lit cigarettes thrown into buckets of gasoline to only go out.
This myth they busted actually free a man from a life sentence in prison
Most of the time I see in movie or Tv show they throw zippo lighter not Cigarette. Only one I can remember is DeadPool.
Demolition Man
Robocop
I had a gas station employee tell me to put out my smoke at the pumps, as she stood next to the propane tanks smoking. SMH
If i just had to smoke, id smoke next to tank b4 i would a gas pump. Why test fate either way
@@thelog86 well you aren't igniting either with a cigarette.
Your got a better chance selling ballons at the pump. Then smoking a cigarette. It take a blue spark. Not a red or white one.

I think they lied to you about the "policy". You should just confront the person that flicked the cigarette and let them know how you feel. 🤫

So, the answer is YES!
Don't play games with fire and that's about it.
Better be safe than sorry
welp its true a cig wont light gas iv tried 100s of times.

nope sorry it can't unless in controlled conditions. be careful anyways
What about smoking while filling up, say, a lawn mower.
Always doing that
No it's more fun to freak people out from their ignorance. It's completely impossible.
just shows how you dont understand basic physics ... a fool is fooled by a fool
Video too long. Just freaking show us you throwing a cigarette to a gasoline.
You can do that. They explained causes.
I really want to test this myself

Why not try it and see
Why talk about it when u can just demonstrate? Useless video.
