Upon cessation, these receptors are still under expressed, but now you are not getting the immune system activity nearly as much in that space to handle the smoke damage. Many smokers' excuses are "we're gonna eventually die anyway". But they don't get that dying of lung cancer, not being able to hardly breathe anymore, is one of the worst ways to go. If we're going to die, we need to at least try and make it a less painful way
Here's a story for you: Last year, at age 51, I had a stroke. Half my body was paralyzed. (I'm recovered now and doing great.) A lot of factors, but smoking was obviously the biggest. I had smoked since I was a 16 year old rocker kid back in the 80s. You really shouldn't be having strokes when you're only 51, unless you have some kind of congenital condition or other factor. I don't. Basically smoked too much. Ended up between a pack and a half to two packs a day. If you want to risk dying early, keep smoking. Otherwise, quit, and quit all the way. No half-measures, no patches, no vaping, no "mitigating smoking cessations" blah blah. Quit right now. You think you can't quit? I quit instantly, and if I quit, you can too. Just pretend you're putting a gun to your head. Because that's what you're actually doing, anyway. Good luck, and try to stick around for those that love you.
Good to hear you are doing better and learned a hard lesson. Live a better life from now on. You owe to yourself and I'm sure your loved ones that care about you. Get a little excersise, at least regular walks. Eat healthy. Plenty of fresh veggies, fruits, legumes, etc. Real food. You'll recover and be a better man for it. Best of luck!
@@fedvvvv Thank you, I've been doing all that for a year; we gotta get these kids off the cigs! And in truth, if I was still smoking, my new lifestyle would be a lot less meaningful. @Emma Jakubek it's not a good habit, yeah, but smoking doesn't dictate the rest of the things you do so it's a bit of a bold statement to say that the millions of people who smoke are wasting their lives 🤷🏼♀️

Smoking is not a reason to be able to run less or slower. Its because you didnt do any fitness while smoking. Or was just simply lazy. Coughing tho is one of the things that happens. Food tasting better is a myth. and feeling better is basicly the same as the fitness.

well... the sad thing is; you are smoking constantly cuz of the other people who are smoking, you breathe the smoke in.. so basically you smoke every day (unless u live on countryside or just stay home)
That doesn't work for everyone. Everyone is different. The heart and lung association doesn't always recommend same tactics. It has been proven that there are cases when it did more harm than good to quit out right. Some people have to slow their way down. There has been a few people who quit cold turkey and it caused them to have a stroke or heart attack because their body was so used to the habit that when they quit, their body went into attack mode.
I smoked for 13 years and quit when I was 31. I did it with chewing gum and keeping my hands busy. For me not smoking all day was fine until my first cigarette, after my first I had to keep smoking. So it was pretty smooth for me. I woke up and said I don't need one, and just kept busy. At work I chewed gum.. at home I started cooking every day. And I enjoyed cooking. Honestly, quitting coffee was harder then cigarettes. And every now and then I still enjoy a cup of good coffee, but I don't miss the cigarettes at all.
Tbf he's right. Smoking 30 packs a month wouldn't do as much damage as shown in this vid as in real life, it won't be continuous smoking. The tar will keep on getting cleaned out, and not pile up in your throat as shown. Also, when not smoking (for eg, while sleeping) your lungs will clear out a bit.
George Rooney Hey, think over what this will do with your body. Your lungs will be damaged. It can cause cancer and you could get a cancer (idk the name) where you can only speak with a machine in your neck. You taste and smell very bad and if you get a kid it could have a bad life. Even your family and friends get damaged of you smoking. Maybe it’s a Good feeling for you but please do something that feels good without drugs.

Or You could try chewing gum, that's how my dad quit smoking!
I WOULD like your comment but... It's at 420 likes, the comedic timing is just too perfect.
Best "Why don't smoke" video.
Janouk Maybe if it was accurate.
1950s commercial: (Mid-Atlantic) "Your mouth feel clean and refreshed."
I showed this to my dad and he said: *"This is just an experiment not a real body"*
God bless science deniers, they really are a special breed.

@@brucewayne7203 u make it sound like smoking doesn't do much damage to ur body 👁👄👁

Can we just admire how he took hes time to put 600 cigs into a bottle

@@psilocybemusashi To make you people realise how ignorant you people are

Hey, think over what this will do with your body.
This guy Chris is awesome. He shows us how harmful smoking really is with no crazy advertisements, and gets the point across more effectively than the actual ads. Plus, he's still replying to comments after 5 years. Absolute legend.
Wow! Thanks for that!!
