As someone trying to get their associates in Computer Science, I felt every bit of this. Fuck are these professors getting paid for if we have to use outside resources to learn? Is it a finders fee?
I have a teacher like this, but he wasn't a strict grader. He'd come to class read some notes and leave, and at the end of the semester he'd give us assignments and just grade them without reading any of it...then he'd give us like 20/20's 10/10's and then at the end the semester he'd fail everyone
'.....that you gotta embarrass your own students...' bro I felt this. Just last week a lecturer was tryna give us zero on a group project just coz someone made an honest mistake of not including the name of one group member on the cover page (he's also the one who contributed the most coz he typed the majority of it but he wasnt the one who typed the cover page so that's why his name mistakenly got left out coz everyone in the group knew him by his nickname so the dude who typed the cover page didnt notice that his name was missing). We tried to reason with him to understand and we tried to show him evidence but he refused to even look at the evidence and was like 'your either writing another assignment on another topic or am giving you zero'. We had to plead like dogs bro😭, so now he's agreed to bring down our grade as punishment for the negligence. Kinda stings though coz our paper was the best in the entire class but hey, life goes on
seems like hes just being kinda ridiculous but ive worked in some places where you do one input wrong on the system and then you gotta do the whole process again. So I can kinda see why hes tryna be strict on you to encourage you to be a bit more meticulous but he could probably encourage it better in another way idk tho.
So I had a history project once, but our group forgot to make the title slide until the last five minutes. And then, when we presented, the title slide didn’t show up (you have to reload it) and the teacher took off 10 points which gave us a 78 instead of 88 😢. And one person’s pass or fail depended on getting a 80 on this assignment. So if we got a 80, he wouldn’t have to retake the class. (Luckily my grade was good before the project)
idk why people don't do this but every time I have a semi-serious problem with teachers (which has happened only a few times now) I talk to the higher ups and they usually acknowledge while not promising anything (saying things like "we'll investigate") but a while later (ig next teacher's conference), that specific behavior is just magically gone.
Bro this is straight facts. In one of my classes my professor brought a bunch of other professors just to "brag" about their PhD theses knowing none of us understood anything lol.
Jaw really has a point tho. I have this world culture teacher that is annoying and always targets me.He is like a NPC to me he says the same thing everyday. This teacher uncomfortably stares at me when I can see him in the corner of my eye.

3:00 At my local college I work as a custodian and in almost every office/classroom there’s at least 1 bottle or can of soda, and at one point I found a bunch of beer in an office too and I was like “damn is this shit allowed💀”
Computer science major and I relate to this so much 😂 Its the industry bro he was teaching you that when you have senior developers// managers they will act similar to him you gotta do everything yourself and when you do it wrong gotta take accountability even though you asked for help. Relatable. Unfortunately, every college student has at least 1-2 professors like that before they graduate. Imagine trying to learn baroque counterpoint and the professor says "just listen to the music and you'll be able to figure it out."
My political science professor was like this, she made us purchase and read her garbage book. Chastised the class when we didn’t know something and then turn around and tell us to use google. She tried to embarrass me in front of the class over a thesis she approved, I reported her(with proof) so quick it wasn’t even funny. After that she tried to talk to me and set up a meeting about me reporting her I declined her request and ignored her the whole semester. Came out with an A by the grace of God. But for crying out loud I’m a nursing major, why in the world is political science a pre-req?
You're legitimately describing my old middle school science teacher. That man would just tell us about elon musk and how his wife died to cancer, and how he was on american idol. Then he would, and I kid you not, PLUG HIS SPOTIFY in the middle of class. And on top of all that, he would just not teach us anything and then expect us to do these assignments we knew nothing about.
the way he actually put yoyo in there is crazy. we need a collab between juice, yoyo, devonte, swoozie, and tim all in one with like a 30 min video. That would be super cool

Your video made me realize something. He wasn't the worst but he was a lot older and I was not doing well enough to get through. Now, Im trying to finish college and practice more with coding. Whoever sees' this. Don't give up. Keep going.
Bro the number of college profs who are just completely fucking useless is insane. Half the time you have to teach yourself all the shit. I’m glad I’m not the only one. 💀😭
I had a teacher like this back in 8th grade. I was having trouble coding so I asked him for help and bro was like “don’t ask me for help because when you get a job you can’t ask your boss for help”
I actually had a very competent professor. The way out class structure was set up just didnt allow him to teach us in any way but the classic “basically just read out the shit in the syllabus” way. Since he had to get through mandatory stuff he couldn’t explain how shit fit into the general context of coding and computer science, it was just lectures on how to program the exact answers to the questions he had to aks on the final for each semester. Online resources are a must, and personally i think you can only become an excellent coder once you’ve experienced an actual work setting. Only if everything needs to work outside of the vaccum of test questions and you have experienced people around you who can help you and put thing into perspective can you be truly competent.
i've had prof. like this.. and my advice is to just keep it pushing (drop or just try ur best) you might not get the grade you want but focus on finishing ur degree. systematically there is nothing you can do, but if you're determine to change this type of behavior your best shot is to work your way up to the position that allows you to select who teaches at the college. So be the change or keep it pushing.

Shit at that point I’d rather learn the skills at home then pay for the classes, that way I can’t fail, and if attendance counts toward your grade, I’d just do something else while in class, cause that’s basically paying for the degree rather than the knowledge
