The Jeep Renegade Trail Hawk can handle this hill without much difficulty. But you have to select the right modes for the 4x4 operation. Also disable the ESC to allow for more wheel spin. Otherwise, the traction control will pull throttle power to limit tire slip. The TigerShark Multiair engine has plenty of power for the task, but it needs a bit more RPM to access that power.
It's clear as crystal that 4x4 "Low" mode was not enabled at first. When it finally got up, you can notice that the wheels are spinning way slower to the same engine rotation, and it climbed easily even on street tires. Driver failure, not a car issue.
The low range on this is just first gear. It normally starts in 2nd gear.. It's basically the same first gear I have in my Cherokee Trailhawk with the 2.4. my first gear will do the same thing but my "real" low range has no issues. I like the Renegade a lot but I really wish they would have put a 2.92 transfer case in there. If you want market separation between the Renegade and the Cherokee fine just leave the locker out. At least give it the good low range everybody wants it. I don't like when companies cripple something just to create product separation. That's what Apple does with the iPhone SE. I think it's ridiculous.
this is not a fail. it was just a line picked that did not work and the driver had to pick another line. No different then any other vehicle. This is a win in my book.
It's not the power it needs ... its the electronic assisted 4x4 modes that need to let more wheel engagement.. it tends to cut throttle on the modes , in conjunction with some drive when you actually need the wheels spinning momentum to to engage ... it gives the wheels the grip that has most but throttle gets cut , when you could have drive on the less contacted wheels .. cvt is worse but this is better ... you can switch esp off ... I'd like to see some real tests with all modes tried to see which is best on for most traction but as yet I haven't seen any .. its a capable little off roader that just lacks what the wrangler has. So you have to work at it a bit more .. it'll do it most times . Needs more articulation . And more drive to the less gripping wheels . Without the throttle back off.
The 2.0 diesel Versions available in europe have far more grunt for going offroad. The 2,4 seems to suffer from a lack of torque at around 1600rpm and the traction control therefore cannot work as good as it could with more power at the wheels. But still it is no fail. Not really graceful, but it made it up the hill.
Yeah just needs a small amount of momentum because it just doesn't quite have a low enough low range. I would definitely not recommend putting larger tires on this. I have the same engine and transmission in my Cherokee Trailhawk but I have a 56:1 crawl instead of 20:1. Zero issues. In fact , It can climb so stinking hard that it will get you into trouble... For mine as long as the tires will grip, it will climb it no problem... You HAVE to put these renegades in low because low just allows 1st gear and not low is 2nd gear which is way too high.
Why is this video titled "Renegade Fail"?... Looks like Renegade win... despite the moron driving it. I own one of these little Jeeps. They are badass. They are not a CJ7 or Wrangler Rubicon, but they're quite awesome for what they are...
this is a typical example off driver failure. First of all air down you're tires to improve grip. than try to keep a little 'forward momentum and you will make it.
@@tankscrittersandurbanhomes5579 No, it's not mine. But I do own it's colorado red Trailhawk twin. You can't buy a Renegade Trailhawk with any transmission other than the ZF conventional automatic transmission. @@johnfrench6144 locking it in to first gear and adjusting the throttle response is not really a low range. And real transfer cases actually add extra gearing and achieve substantially higher crawl ratios.
Miles Miller it's a trailhawk. That the trail rated renegade. The most expensive version of the renegade bc it's 4x4, has hill descent control, and low crawl

The car did not fail. Renegade went through the trail challenge.
No bad on street tires.
Needs lockers. FCA needs to pay more attention to the toaster and give us lockers.
richard miller needs power no more...
@@DaniloPersano the brake based traction control takes power away. Put lockers on it and it will be able to send all the power to the wheels.

Il problema è la modalità rock che taglia potenza per evitare lo slittamento ...meglio usare mud o sand cosi non taglia elettronicamente la potenza.

Nice job of this pocket beauty beast, love the color as well
DRIVER FAIL!!!! NOT JEEP FAIL😬
Joshua Stone no power, no climb 🤣🤣🤣 shitty car...
Next time, put a tire on for trails.
worst driving i've seen off road

Que pedazo de poronga ¡¡¡¡¡
Driver Fail dont blame the car !
stfu
nop ! pcs >> consoles
It works just fine for me, and I don't even have the trailhawk....
I love this jeep. Best in it class hands down.
It's the car
It needs better tires and diff locks

El renegade no está hecho para el off road extremo, para eso hay otros modelos, el wrangler y el Rubicón.
Another driver fail in the renegade trail hawk I’ve seen what this lil beast can do !
I will take that anyday in a street vehicle. In fact i am considering a renegade as my next car purchase.

Tigershark is the 2.4L engine? The Multiair is what volume?
He overcame the obstacle... it’s a win for me not a fail! If anyone failed it was the driver 🙈
How exactly did it fail?
Driver fail, Renegade win
No esta diceñado para eso fijence en la cilindrada de los motores no es un beiculo para ese uso, para eso usen un wrangler
kudos for the driver,, Not a fail ,/!! big hill little jeep

Not really a fail considering it made it in the end, on highway tires no less.

wrong equipment, not the renegade, buy new tires...
