Just so people know: the 18 himi set has the same 18 colors also in the 24 set plus 7 new, the arrtx have 9 of the same colors of the 18 himi set plus 9 new. These 9 new are different from the 7 new in the 24 set. And all of the colors in the different sets are in the 56 set (which are all the colors himi offers). So, if you have the 18 himi plus the 24 himi set, you have 24 different colors and 17 doubles. If you have the 18 himi and the 18 arrtx: you have a total of 26 colors plus 9 doubles. If you have the 18 + 24 himi + 18 arrtx set: you have a total of 33 different colors and 26 doubles (some triples actually)! If you have all sets, do the math... you have a LOT of the same colors!!! So don't open the lids of same colors if you buy multiple set! And there is no need to buy the 56 set if you have the other sets. Although there are 21 colors in the 56 set that are not in one of the smaller sets. But of course those are all convenience colors. Nothing wrong with that. Lots of numbers but just wanted the viewers to be aware that you are buying a lot of the same colors if you buy different sets of himi or arrtx (because those are the same). I wish Lyndsey (or some other youtuber... but Lyndsey is usually so thorough) had mentioned this in the video. It would have saved me hours of research and money on duplicate colors. I love the paints but they last me over 3 years before i even finish a cup, besides white of course... Luckily it's only 1,- per cup, but still! Just wanted you all to know 😊 Happy painting everyone
Ok I’ll admit I have t used gouache and was busy cooking while I watched this. I just really enjoy having your happy chirpy voice in the background. You should have a podcast Lindsay
I saw many comments here saying their jelly gouache drys out all the time, personally, I spray my himi miya gouache set with water at least a few times every week and even after many months now, it still has a really good consistency and haven't dried out at all. I think spraying it with water is really a good and easy way to prevent the paint from drying out, at least from my own experiences :)
I bought the MIYA 56 set... its the COOLEST thing ever! I'm a watercolor and ink artist. Gouache doesn't have any lightfastness at all, so I don't use it for any professional work. But in my sketchbook? Or coloring books? Or just making a cute quick piece to keep on my walls for a few months? Making artwork for my daughters room? Nothing beats it. It is SO fun. It's not fussy at all like oils, watercolors etc. You can buy any jelly gouache and have a blast. With watercolors, sometimes the cheaper paints can really take the fun out of it and make the end results look... not so great. I love love love my gouache. And the bonus is that when you have the on trend materials, art block is almost unheard of because there's SOOOO many tiktoks and YT videos about gouache ideas and paintings. The ideal consistency is exactly like melted ice cream and if that isn't the best and most fun way to refer to paint idk what is. Gouache keeps painting FUN for me. The colors are a so much fun. The tube gouache I understand is the "so serious" versions. But the jelly gouache has a special and permanent place in my heart and art desk. Edit: ALSO yes the best way, I agree, is to let them dry put and avoid mold. They are very easily brought back to life with some water. I got a continuous mister spray bottle on Amazon for like $6. I keep it with the palette. When using I scoop a but out and mix it with water to desired consistency on palette rather than putting enough water into the jelly cup itself. AND the absolute key- get an electric stirrer for $8 on Amazon. It's changed my life. I have one for my Latte milk but it has the wrong attachment. You want the one that is just thin metal wire shaped into a square. It's used for mixing resin and epoxy. After spraying the dried cups and waiting about 5 to 10 mins, use the electric stirrer and they'll be perfect once again. The spray bottle and electric stirrer have made my gouache experience so much better and totally mess, mold and dried paint flake free!! Best of luck artists!
I'm so happy to hear you find these paints so much fun, that's exactly why I want to get them. I started buying watercolours and I love them but they are not an easy medium in many ways. Jelly gouache looks much lower stakes (not to mention affordable) and reminds me of childhood 😊
Go buy a can of Krylon UV Archival Varnish in a matte finish and stop worrying about your gouache lightfastness. Not sure I'd sell work from himi paints but after UV archival varnish I'd happily hang it. It's gouache so I'd want to cover it anyways - if it got wet it would be ruined.

Somehow the jelly gouache looks more appealing when it’s all moist and slightly juicy. I guess it makes me think of something edible and sweet like candy or cake icing or like pudding.

Okay! I watched this review three times trying to decide which I wanted to buy. LOL I ordered and cancelled sets a few times on amazon. Then ended up getting the 56 set. While they all looked great, I was attracted to the selection of pastel toned paints in the Miya set and went with that. Do I need 56 colors? But of course not! But there you have it . I will be watching your gouache tutorials again so I can learn to use these. Thanks again for another excellent review.
I really enjoy your reviews. I could not and would not be able to compare so many brands so thank you for doing it for me.You have a wide range of knowledge and things we may not even know to be aware of. Very thorough.
FYI, right now Arteza has the 60 set on sale for $30 (and they had sent me a $10 off code!) Haven't used gouache yet, but anticipate using the metallic gold and silver on Christmas cards.
I like that you can use these sets as water colours as well as kind of a acrylic alternative. More water more watercolour like less water more acrylic like. These are awesome paints!!
This was a great overview of gouache! Definitely gave me information I need. I have some tube gouache but they are more transparent than I'd like for a gouache.
I bought the Artsy 24 set- it arrived yesterday and I’m painting the fall color of the dogwood tree in my front yard right now and really enjoying it in a generic sketchbook I bought on sale yesterday. Thank you!!!
I have the 24 Artsy set. I love them so far. I still haven't taken all of the seals off. I still have a tube of white I'm using up before I open that cup. There's paint on the back of the seals I'm using before I throw them away on some. so they're still just sitting on top of the cup. The reason I like the cups over the tubes. Is the tube caps get all crusty. Thanks for the review. Your channel has kept me entertained during covid.
Hullo Lindsay! I saw your video recommended after watching a video by Doodle Date they just did on jelly gouache. I have a like-hate relationship with gouache and I have avoided it for years. I am not as excited as others seem to be by it’s resurgence in the art community. I have enjoyed watching videos that artists use white gouache for highlights and it being so accepted. I am truly glad that people, some people, are less uptight about mixing mediums. I found that I am still constrained by my early training and instruction. I start a watercolor painting with the forethought of preserving my highlights and whites! I hope those looking to get into gouache have had a chance to enjoy your video. You are very informative and knowledgeable about these products. I hope your having a lovely weekend.
Thank you for your review, I have the himi 24, and I keep it wet by misting and also have mixed it with gum arabic and glycerine, it makes the paint even smoother, and it dries a bit slower, and the reason I do it is because I can easily pick some paint with my pallet knife to mix, and keep the paint clean, downside is that I have to keep it horizontal :-)
@@RanGotPunkd09 I used about two drops of gum arabic and two drops on glycerine in each color, (I did it only once) adding gum arabic makes the gouache a little less chalky, after every use I mist the pallet with water, I hope it helps! :-)
To be honest and I'm not crapping on any other TH-cam Artists but your long videos are the only ones I can stand to watch and actually enjoy ....Its strange I have no problem watching a 30min video of yours but ill struggle to watch an 8 minute video from another TH-cam artist...There are many variables in why that is but I just wanted to write a quick comment today....so again, I love all your videos, and on days Im feeling unwell and cant get out of bed I'll just lay down and watch your videos, which keep me entertained while I learn. So thank you for what you do!! Much love ♥️
If the companies are reading this, I have some suggestions: It would be good if you offered the following: - replacement cups, and cups with colours that didn't come in the specific packs - a few empty cups that come with the palette and the option to buy even more empty cups so we canix new colours in larger amounts and bring them with us if we so choose. - little lids like ones you get on soda fountain drink cups. They would help keep the paint wet without worrying about it adhering to the top of the palette itself. And as for you, Lindsay, I just wanted to offer my thanks. I asked for these paints for my birthday, and figured that because it was a splurge type situation, I would ask for the name brand HIMI jelly gouache that everyone was boasting about. I'm glad I didn't get them after all because they're darn expensive, and if they're all similar quality, I may as well get the one I like the most, and that is the most affordable. So thank you again, *MASSIVELY* for making this video!♡♡
I have a Himi 24 set, I just put plastic wrap over the paint cups and then place the palette+lid over it. It would be nice if the little cups had pop off/up tops or lids.
Himi has replacement cups and new colors sold as a set of 4 for around 3 dollars. They also sell empty boxes to store the jelly cups which are extremely affordable as well.
Update. I bought a cheap set of gouache paints (Artist Loft) from Michael's recently. Will try them out soon. I agree with you on only mixing enough paint for what I'm doing, and not leaving it on the palette. PS I will definitely use your method of swatching to make sure I get the opaqueness I need.
HAPPY 500K Lindsay!!!!!!!!!!! You deserve it!!! After 2 or so years of watching you review these types of paint I finally thought "yep! Let's try one....the Artzy 24 black set I think' This product on Amazon Australia is $93!!!!!....and on 'Amazon Day' no less!! So 'No' unfortunately. TFS!!
Thats way to much! I wonder how pricey holbein would be for you with your closer proximity to Japan? It's usually reasonable and great quality (don't get the acrylic gouache if you want a rewritable one tho)
I wanted to bring my himi gouache on the road, but traveling with that box results in paint spilling into each other. I wanted to still keep the paint creamy and ready to use. I found out that those paint pots used for paint by number projects are perfect for keeping the paint fresh. I also used a big sturdy hinged dressing pot (the ones used for take outs) to store my titanium white since I needed a lot more than what the paint pots could store for that color.
I bought the black artsy box of gouache and it's great. I wish they made refills for the cups. The reviews and questions section mention not being able to just buy refill cups.
The good thing about art is you can always put it in the garbage bin if you don't like it 😀 Enjoy the process of playing, experimenting, learning. It is not a competition..
Thank you for taking the time to review these for us. I don't have any water color paints yet. Still not sure which ones to start with because I still have tried drawing yet. I want to learn how and learn more about paints to buy.
I started with a set of 8 PRANG just a step above Crayola. Just to try it and see if I liked watercolors. Sometimes the drawing really does take me a long time before I paint. I did end up buying some more watercolors later and the gouache does look fun for different effects. the box even had a paintbrush in there. And I think I got mixed media paper. Started for under $20
Thank you Lindsay!!!! I want to try gouache, I have some artist loft to just see how it works . This was very helpful leaning and seeing different brands so if I like, I will know what to get. I love your work in gouache. I enjoyed the sketchbook as well.
You covered the differences in the gouache sets so well! I have been making masks, but this video makes me want to get going with painting again!! Thanks Lindsay.😀
So if you already have tube gouache, it sounds like one doesn't need these. Sounds like you could DIY it by putting the tube gouache in a container with separate areas-like the tackle box. as long as they don't dry out you have a jelly gouache palette
That was really interesting. I was just at Fred Meyer today and noticed that there was a small set of gouache tube paints. It didn't appear that the tubes were very big. I think the brand was Langnickel; but, I didn't write it down. I've tried watercolor tube paints from that company and I could not get past the odor; so, I've never bought any other paint of any kind from Langnickel.
Another fabulous video Lindsay, thank you. I have the Arrtx box and I absolutely love them. I’m hoping that there will eventually be refills available here in the UK xXx
The 56 set miya was £237 on Amazon uk on 18may now 19may £156 delivery in June. I bought the himi 24 set for £12 just to try delivery 1day. Figure that out. Thanks Lindsay.
This is great; just came over from Shannon Green, she was playing with her set. My daughter is a fine art student and wants gouache; brands aren't important? I'd love to get her a set for Christmas, at least to play around with. Thanks for sharing, this is very helpful. Wishing you a happy and safe Thanksgiving, take care!
Very helpful to get me going again! Unfortunately I haven't been painting and after months of stress and 3 weeks in the mountains have picked up my watercolors. Who couldn't after seeing the Autumn leaves! This looks like it would be fun to use and I'm thinking it's gonna be a long winter. 💜 thank you !
It is nice to know what to start out with! Thank you so much for sharing I appreciate all of your reviews. I want to here them from someone I trust. Just like I watch Garden Answer for everything garden. Know that you are loved and respected!
Thanks for this comparison, I’ve been hankering to try some gouache after watching your videos. The timing was perfect, I snagged the Artsy 24 on a Prime day deal. I didn’t want to invest too much, and these look fun.
If you look around you can find a lot of containers great for both gouache and watercolor for dirt cheap. I'm using some Artbin slimline ten pan boxes that are lovely for some tube watercolors right now.. they come in a two pack for about six bucks. They also have a larger one and some with different boxes amounts and sizes. Look in the beading section of a store (mine were at Hobby Lobby but they are also on amazon). I also have a box this shape from Walmart with eight cubes for $3, also in the craft section near the beads. They both have solid walls, no gluing necessary. Hobby lobby also had an organizer in the scrapbooking section for daubers that would be perfect for gouache and had I think 20 cubes and a sealing top. Lots of options out there....
For studio painting with DIY gouache set, plastic egg cartons might work, too. Or ice cube trays, or silicone muffin pans. Just cover with paper plate(s) in you want the dried-out format like Lindsay's...
Those flat brushes with rounded edges are called "Katzenzungenpinsel" in German (that is because apparently someone was really reminded of a cat's tongue when painting with it ^^' ). I really would have thought the English name would be something similar, because they really are not that different from each other :). I kinda like the ARRTX one, but shouldn't one be able to just mix those rather easily? I guess I'd rather choose that 24 Himi set with the white palette (I'm so used to using those boxes where the lid usually doubles as a palette. I probably would have to search for my other palettes, if I'd wanted to paint with other paints ^^') I also like that black sturdy one, you can't do much wrong with a nice sturdy packaging. I also like that that one doesn't take so much room on my desk, which is really notoriously overly crammed with stuff :D
@@ms.marvelous7019 oh, okay, maybe we call that one different again? Or I just assumed wrong and always called it a cat's tongue ^^'. Totally possible ;)
In Mexico there is one also called LENGUA DE GATO which is cat's tongue and it is similar to a filbert but with shorter bristles. I could not find the name of that brush here in the US when I look for it, it is the pointed one.
@@LunaBianca1805 I think that in German, Katzenzunge is used for both, the round and the pointy brushes. And I also have seen stores selling brushes as filberts or simply as ovals, but as far as I know, Katzenzunge is the overall term for all of these brushes. And it's such a nice name for a brush! 😸
I looked at this because I asked my mom yesterday for the himi 24 set for 9th grade graduation and I wanted to make sure i made the right choice for my style of painting, and i think i did! I was leaning towards the artsy set, but I don't want full opacity, since i do my linework in my style after i do the painting part. I think the Himi 24 will actually be best for me! Thank you so much!
@@doodoodoodle we haven't been able to afford much stuff since we had to move suddenly and then we started saving up for Christmas like we always do but it's on my list this year and I'm very excited to see wether we could get it or not!
Thank you for this really informative video. I find squeezing from tubes irksome, and was very taken by your squeezing paint into compartments in a fishing tackle box.
OMG you have the 56 Himi gouache set?! I love that set. I realy want on. I have the Himi 18 set ( i haven,t tryed it out because my fear of painting somthing that is,nt good and then i would be very upset because the himi gouache set was very expensive) i loved it wen you explained the diffrent painting sets pro,s and con,s. Hope you have a great day greetings from the netherlands
I get what you're saying. Just try to look at it as play, as a child would. In comparison to what else you could spend your money on (a big night out...), it's not that bad. And remember, it's not always about the end result, it's about what you learn on the journey.😉
What a great comparison! So many yummy colors! I've still never tried gouache...but I want to! Watching you dip into those fresh cups and get that nice paint...oohhhh! I have to have some!!! 🤗❤
The toned little 9bes are the new hahnemule watercolor toned books. They come in beige and a light gray. They are hard to find but if you are in america you can order from wet paint is Minnesota. You may have to call or email cuz I dont think it's on their website.
I love gouache and I like these sets but I have heard from other users of this medium that they really don’t recommend drying out the gouache and instead don’t take the caps off all the way to keep it nice and to lift up the capsules out of the case every once in a while just to keep everything clean and organized
Some listings of the Arrtx 18 cup went on sale for 50% off coupon so I had to buy one. Got it home, compared it to my Arteza and I think it actually makes cleaner mixes! So I bought a second one, still at that 50% off deal. I'll keep it maybe in case I need a little gift for a young person. These gouaches are so much fun. If anyone is interested, it's still on sale. They also have that weird multi-green selection (the one with about 5 pastel greens) on sale, but I tested and I could make all those greens with the more traditional primary set. Anyway, if anyone happens to read this on 10/11/2021. Use Lindsay's affiliate link at Amazon.
"Pardon me,do you have jelly gouache, try the art store next door". As you know Lindsey I love gouache and all the pretty pastel colors.gouache looks so beautiful when it is varnished or sealed with a sheen.Although not a master such as you,my art is just for me, family and for fun and to help with stress, which now I have started doing more abstract, love it.❤️🌹🏆🤗😀😀😀
Hi Lindsay! What a great video. Thanks so much for taking the time to review all of these so honestly. Would you be able to list the brand of brushes that you like for gouache? I wasn’t able to catch the name on the video Thanks for a cheerful start to my day 🥰
You cant beat royal and langnickle. I like the zen or menta all media brushes or the golden taklon soft grip ones. All are $3-$5 each, cheaper in sets.
For studio painting with DIY gouache set, plastic egg cartons might work, too. Or ice cube trays, or silicone muffin pans. Just cover with paper plate(s) for the dried-out format ... luv ur videos!
I’m really interested in jelly style guache but I haven’t tried it yet because I do have a cute lovely solid d puck style guache set that I like a lot. And I worry that it is wasteful of me to have multiple guache sets. But this comparison was great and I can see it’s way easier to get super opaque colours with the jelly sets.
I had jelly watercolors as a young teen. Spill proof I believe was the marketing. I hated them, it wasn’t very pigmented and the jelly texture wasn’t my preference.
For the giant miya set, the lid if you pull it up a little on the side you're trying to latch it will latch. Thankfully I figured that out because my cat knocked it off a stool and because I left the inside top liners, and was able to latch all sides, there was only a little mess on the cover, but none of the colors mixed at all. If you're pushing down on the lid side you're trying to latch, then it doesn't line up. So pull up a few millimeters and retry the latch, should work. Well at least it does on mine.
Hi - I've used watercolors for years but never tried gouache. I'd like to try them as a compliment to my watercolor artwork. What should I expect if I combine the two? If I add more binder to gouache - will it behave like regular watercolor?
So a few months ago I got a set of the bright HIMIs in the mint green box, and tried them out in one of my coloring books (which is where I tend to try stuff out). After using watercolors for years, I have to admit the consistency kind of freaked me out somewhat...So thick and viscous that I wasn't quite sure how to control them. Do you have any suggestions on very beginner videos for using these? I watched a good video by Mary Sanche on water, milk, cream, butter, or something, but I was hoping for maybe a really easy small maybe postcard or bookmark or something. I have a bunch of taklon brushes to push them around with. Still pretty intimidated by them. CONGRATS on 500K! You are the best!
I think they would be difficult in a coloring book. I have a few #gouache tutorials but if you want to see some real gouache talent check out James Gurney and Jarod Loves to Draw on youtube.

There's paint on the back of the seals I'm using before I throw them away on some. so they're still just sitting on top of the cup. The reason I like the cups over the tubes. Is the tube caps get all crusty. Thanks for the review. Your channel has kept me entertained during covid.
Love this info! You are always so honest and helpful! Just love your videos!!!🌺 Thank you so much for all you do!
Yahooooooo!!! 500,000!!!
Congratulations Lindsay!!!🥳🥳🥳

Whooo hooo 500k subbies . Congrats Lindsay! Think it was around 30 or so k when I joined. Always good and informative videos.
Hi. May I ask about thr ratio for the gum arabic and glycerine that you put? Thank you
@@RanGotPunkd09 I used about two drops of gum arabic and two drops on glycerine in each color, (I did it only once) adding gum arabic makes the gouache a little less chalky, after every use I mist the pallet with water, I hope it helps! :-)
@@avigail5356 Thank you for replying! 💖 I'll try and do this for my HIMI gouache set!
@@RanGotPunkd09 sure! glad to help! :-)
Thank you so much for your thoughtful reviews!
You hit 500,000!!! Yay!! Congrats!🎉🎈🍾🎉💃💃🕺🎈🎈🎈🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 enjoyed the review, you are always so thorough giving pros and cons to each, thanks Lindsay!
I hope you feel better soon:)
They need to use a metal pin to make the largest set's handle longer-lasting. Helpful review. Thank you.
If the companies are reading this, I have some suggestions:
It would be good if you offered the following:
- replacement cups, and cups with colours that didn't come in the specific packs
- a few empty cups that come with the palette and the option to buy even more empty cups so we canix new colours in larger amounts and bring them with us if we so choose.
They're not quite expensive in my Country, they're Literally 10 dollars HHHHH
@Alex Lloyd oh that's great to hear!
Himi has replacement cups and new colors sold as a set of 4 for around 3 dollars. They also sell empty boxes to store the jelly cups which are extremely affordable as well.
@@tuhinaroy7263 now they do lol. I posted this 2 years ago though. Still though, glad they did all that! :)
Wow 500,000 subscribers!!!!! Great review. I have been wanting to try some of them.
OMG YOU HIT 500K!!! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!! Congrats, Lindsay!! 🎉🎉🎉🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
I love your gouache sketches!
I just got the Himi set recently and I've never used Gouache. I'm afraid to try it!
Dont be! You have plenty to practise with too!
The good thing about art is you can always put it in the garbage bin if you don't like it 😀 Enjoy the process of playing, experimenting, learning. It is not a competition..
@@ladymuck2 amen!
The only way to waste art supplies is by not using them !
Because it will bite you ? 😅
this was amazingly helpful...im so excited to begin my journey with these new textures thank you
Arrtx and the Himi sets are manufactured by the same company, so the pigment information SHOULD be similar for similar colours.
Thank you so much for your review and swatches of gouache. This will help me decide between brands and sets.
Started for under $20
@@recoveringsoul755 Thank you for your help.
There are so many decent options out now! You cant go wrong with prang or 5he pretty excellent set!
@@thefrugalcrafter Thank you so much young lady.
Sounds like you could DIY it by putting the tube gouache in a container with separate areas-like the tackle box. as long as they don't dry out you have a jelly gouache palette
yup, the "jelly" refers to the packaging, not the paint:)
@Awenda that's why you have to glue the dividers in. Hot glue works well and makes a nice seal.
@Awenda you can make round blocks like that too! I made a tutorial for diy watercolor blocks with hot glue a couple of years ago:)
Himi is the cheapest price per ml gouache. Even cheaper than maries tubes.
@@seraby7151 wow, thanks!
Looooovelly pastel colours, these look beautiful for illustrations 🌹
That was really interesting. I was just at Fred Meyer today and noticed that there was a small set of gouache tube paints. It didn't appear that the tubes were very big. I think the brand was Langnickel; but, I didn't write it down. I've tried watercolor tube paints from that company and I could not get past the odor; so, I've never bought any other paint of any kind from Langnickel.
The Reeves brand sets of watercolor tubes have a very strong smell, as well. I wonder why that is.
I love your comparison videos! Would love one comparing ALL your gouache paints, I am debating jelly vs tubes at the moment.
I think quality is the same for the price so go with the format thats more convienient.
@@thefrugalcrafter Thanks Lindsay. Have you tried the Magicfly jelly gouache? It looks similar to Himi but quite a bit cheaper, in the UK anyway
I found a white-labeled version of the Himi-24 on clearance from Walmart for a steal, so I’m excited for that 😊
Oh wow!! Jelly cup gouache looks so cute 😍 love the comparison 👍
Another fabulous video Lindsay, thank you. I have the Arrtx box and I absolutely love them. I’m hoping that there will eventually be refills available here in the UK xXx
LOVE Hardor Freight !
The Frugal Krafter; Linzi. You always give a well spoke tutorial; just by your voice, I can hear I’m going to learn something.
Thank you!
I like your videos very much. I find them very informative. So Thank you for doing them. Cheers.
The 56 set miya was £237 on Amazon uk on 18may now 19may £156 delivery in June. I bought the himi 24 set for £12 just to try delivery 1day. Figure that out. Thanks Lindsay.
I got nervous around 7:20 when the ribbon started to fall into the paint haha
Hahaha, OMG, me too! 😳
Veeeery helpful Lindsay! I’m on the cusp of getting a set. Himi 24 with white palate or Artsy 🤓🤔
Love my Himi
Your food paintings look delicious!
TFS Lindsay. This video was loud and clear. I now understand the gouache. Blessings
Great Vid! Thank you for posting
It is nice to know what to start out with! Thank you so much for sharing I appreciate all of your reviews. I want to here them from someone I trust. Just like I watch Garden Answer for everything garden. Know that you are loved and respected!
Than you for your trust:)
I like the idea of the fishing tackle box. I'm thinking of trying them out with my watercolor.
Finally made the jump and purchased a 24 set of the gouache I hear it’s a big learning curve. Tfs
I don't think it's a big learning curve. Just play with it.
There IS another paint brush shape called cat’s tongue , it’s flat with a pointed tip for some reason lol
Plusssss that paintbrush area looks really convenient
How did you like it?
@@doodoodoodle we haven't been able to afford much stuff since we had to move suddenly and then we started saving up for Christmas like we always do but it's on my list this year and I'm very excited to see wether we could get it or not!
Great day for the review anyone interested can take advantage of the Amazon Prime day sale on these.
There's also Marie's Jelly Gouache! Hope you can add it to your collection. 😊😁
Oh, I never heard of that but their chinese watercolors is what I cut my teeth on!
Very very informative review. I'm selecting some art paint materials and this helps me what to choose
Thank you. This was very helpful.
I just ordered the twenty-four set of the Himi gouache, it should be here in a couple of days so I'm quite excited.
You will enjoy them!
I'm in the uk the and looked online for the black and the white set but couldn't find either.
hmm, I would go on your amazon an search jelly gouache, they may be another company selling the same thing under thior label.
Looked on amazon they didn't have those 2 but the 18 colour arrtx one was on sale so I ordered that. I'm just curious to try them out.
What a great comparison! So many yummy colors! I've still never tried gouache...but I want to! Watching you dip into those fresh cups and get that nice paint...oohhhh! I have to have some!!! 🤗❤
Thanks. This was a helpful comparison.
What sketchbook were you showing us here? I've been on the lookout for some toned paper that can handle paint. Thanks! ❤
Thank you for that. It was helpful.
Ohh poopie! I just ordered the Artxx set in the mint box and got 30% off. Oh well, 30% off is cool!
"Pardon me,do you have jelly gouache, try the art store next door".
As you know Lindsey I love gouache and all the pretty pastel colors.gouache looks so beautiful when it is varnished or sealed with a sheen.Although not a master such as you,my art is just for me, family and for fun and to help with stress, which now I have started doing more abstract, love it.❤️🌹🏆🤗😀😀😀
Michael's has an Arteza jelly gouache set that looks similar to the Artsy set with a couple different colors
Oh cool! I've never seen jelly gouache in physical stores!
@@thefrugalcrafteri assumed it was online only but the app said it was in stock at a location about 30 min away so I went and got it 😅
Hi Lindsay! What a great video. Thanks so much for taking the time to review all of these so honestly. Would you be able to list the brand of brushes that you like for gouache? I wasn’t able to catch the name on the video
Thanks for a cheerful start to my day 🥰
You cant beat royal and langnickle.
Thanks for the tips!
I’m really interested in jelly style guache but I haven’t tried it yet because I do have a cute lovely solid d puck style guache set that I like a lot. And I worry that it is wasteful of me to have multiple guache sets. But this comparison was great and I can see it’s way easier to get super opaque colours with the jelly sets.
aww, too bad, i really wanted that black box artsy gouache, but it's currently nowhere to be found 😥
Same I just saw this video and got excited and even Googling it I can't find them available. I think I might just go with Himi now.
You shouldn't need more binder. The gouache will work well with watercolor, just remember it is opaque and matte.
What are the journals you use in this video?
Thanks Lindsay. I just bought a couple of books by James Gurney. He makes it look so easy...ha!
