Its been such a pleasure to watch ohuhu come from a very basic marker company to a really viable art supply company. Theyve improved because they listen and apply what people ask.
@thefrugalcrafter Me, toooo!! I saw that Amazon is selling a jar of HIMI's white gouache refill (phew!). I should be getting the 9-color basic Art Whale gouache set today - can't wait! (Ordered right after your video, hehe). And I saw that Ali Express is selling some refill "bags" of the "Heniewl" gouache in certain colors (their name showed up as the brand for the Annigoni jelly gouache set on Amazon. I can't remember the branding name for the original smaller set you've had for a while). I told my bf I'm like a kid in the candy store w/ art supplies. He said yeah - the kid in the candy store... who buys all the candy! 🤣😁😅 Hope you all have a good Thanksgiving - and extra servings for your dad for his favorite dishes 💕
That is exciting news. I just bought my first set of Ohuhu markers. I bought the 320 set with brush/chisel nibs. As much as it is tempting to want the new Honolulu markers, I am still in awe of my 320 set. I've never seen so many colors in my life. Keep us informed on when these new products will be doing their big launch!
❤ ohuhu been using them since they came out. Glad to see the company thriving. Everyone was all about copics back then and it was just too much moola. Lol
The Copic markers are more expensive because they're made in Japan. Ohuhu are made in China which has a ready supply of slave labor ( figurative and literal). Also China is known for using cheap ingredients. Copics are definitely more expensive, but that's why.
I hope that the light tones in the new marker series are good. Even when the marker was supposed to be super light the color usually ended up being a mid-tone color. That is one of the advantages that Copic has is their light tones.
Thank you for sharing all the goodies ❤ I think Ohuhu is great 👍 my 200 markers just went to a friend who is a real marker artist 🎉 I'm in trouble with soft pastel and on an absolute NO BUY for 90 days!!! You can see why in the group 😂
It depends, I don't know what the price will be but the nibs are more expensive and they are only brush chisel so if you wanted the brush fine set I'd go ahead and get it and mabe get some of the unique colors in the plus range. You really can't go wrong with ohuhu.
@thefrugalcrafter I'm definitely in favor of the brush/chisel set! The better nibs just sound like they might be worth it! I've gone this long having not used them, I think I can be okay waiting and spending a little more! (But yes, I agree! I've been watching artists use them for years since they first popped up and it's incredible what a name they've made for themselves! And the accessibility, especially!)
Wow! Everything in this box was great! I’m looking forward to trying out some of their new products when they release them. Thanks for sharing this Lindsay!
Oh no!! You have unleashed my Want Monster again!! I NEED the new Plus series !! My biggest complaint is difficulty in laying down colors lightly. I always end up to heavy handed but Copic nibs are much better for me yet the cost is prohibitively high. . . Ohuhu came in and saved my budget but I struggle with them so I am really looking forward to these !!!
So many nice products for you to use. Very nice of them to send so much. Your opinion is important to businesses as well as all of us! It was such fun, too. I'm glad it added some joy for you. Thanks for sharing this.
🎉🎉WOW🎉🎉 what a great gift from Ohuhu! I can wait to see you use them all. Those new Honolulu Plus Markers look awesome! I can hardly wait for you to demo those and to get a set myself. 💙💙💙 the acrylic markers also look like a lot of tun too! The calendar was also super cute. What a great gift box! I am so glad it cheered you up after a difficult time. I hope things are still on the up swing for you and your family. ❤
This is soooo fantastic! I love hearing the excitement in your voice! It's not very often that companies come out with something new and exciting! It's comforting to receive a surprise/God wink when you're feeling a little low. Remember, this to shall pass. Whatever trials you are going through, look around you and see all the blessings you are surrounded by, keep positive thoughts in your head, do something that makes you smile/laugh and every day write down what you are grateful for. I am grateful for your talent, your smile, your opinions, honesty, the way you flick your hair, your willingness to share, and so much more! YOU are such a blessing and inspiration to ALL of us who follow you! Sending you lots of love and big hugs! 🥰😃🤪😎🤠👍💃🕺
Love to hear the excitement in your voice. It will be a very nice option for marker artists. I would like individual pens to add to my collection. Thanks for the fun video and have a great weekend!
OMG! I have the 320 of the Ohuhu Honolulu and just started to collect the Copics…I’m up to 120 or so. I liked the nibs better in the Copics abs the actual availability of all the ink refills. If Ohuhu is going to release these new nibs with SO many colors that might be a game changer for me. I’ll have to see if they are better at keeping the ink refills in stock. That was so annoying to me. 😂 This is EXCITING!
That would be REALLY nice to be able to replace my original Honolulu a free at a time! I’m looking forward to the open stock availability on the new ones!
So I really enjoyed this whole video! I gotta tell you something about the pop socket…you can get a OtterBox case called a OtterPop and when the pop socket is pushed down, it’s ALMOST flush with the case so it’ll fit in your pocket!!!
Oh, I really hope they'll do something as exciting for the water based markers as well! I vastly prefer rubber nibs. Still miffed they discontinued my favourite markers... As an acrylic marker artist I'm really interested in that acrylic marker set -- hopefully they indeed are refillable so I might pick them up ASAP.
@thefrugalcrafter the discontinued markers are the "Art markers, dual brush" (brush & bullet nibs) that came in clear plastic cases, sets of 24. Tall and thin, white barrels with silver text. I don't think they had a series name, or at least it wasn't on the packaging. They had a nicer nib than the 'regular' water-based markers, but not rubber. Maybe nylon..? Idk, just not the regular Ohuhu felt brush nibs. 😂 But wouldn't say no to a new decent ZIG/Tombow dupe. 😉
Lindsay freaking out with the new nibs, me freaking out with the gorgeous white leather case instead of the black ones! I can't believe you didn't even mention that, Lindsay. I know the nib is much more important but I am a aesthetic freak what can I say. My ideal would be a big white case with the new brush nib and fine point nib. I would totally buy that although it might be too expensive from what you are saying of the nib price. I will have to wait and see. I don't know if they are maybe putting out too many choices of different nib ends, it sort of confuses me but I guess that also means we can each choose our favorite ends. Oh and I cant wait for you to do a swatching of those acrylic markers, they seem so gorgeous!! Not super weird bright colours but they seemed more muted, ideal for journaling.
The white case is pretty. I think it is their gift packaging. They set a set of 72 in a similar case last year, but I gave it to a friend because I had them in a larger set.
I already have 320 colors so I hope they release a “completionist set” with the new colors, and I hope those colors are more oranges, purples, and deeper skintone shades-cause I feel those are lacking
Maybe they’ll go open stock for all of their alcohol markers. I still wish they’d have Honolulu B markers open stock! It would also be interesting if they sold empty markers for creating custom colors with their refills! I’d love that sort of thing! Probably not very practical for them, though! I did use an extra colorless blender marker to replace my Potato Brown that got lost, so that’s one way of getting a custom marker.
Hullo Lindsay, I have been saying to anyone who asks or posts an alcohol marker video that the Ohuhu Markers have become the Copic Killers of the alcohol marker scene! I purchased the 320 Honolulu B set for my wife’s Birthday and she has been over the moon, using them in just about everything she has beer creating this holiday season! I have truly enjoyed watching you open this gift box from Ohuhu ! It is so deserved and I am another subscriber who is very interested in seeing you create some amazing videos with the contents of this gift box! Happy Holidays.
@@thefrugalcrafter so true. I have crayola markers and uses them on the rubber stamps....on the other stamps the ink beads.,..not a good image. With those I had to use the eraser method for it to work. Tyfs😜 I so excited it was box.
I have their Oahu markers and just bought some of their water based Maui markers...the skin tone set. I also bought their 120 set of Maui markers. I like their products. Might get their soft pastels soon as well, try them out.
My mouse automatically went to the "like" button when you said "go to Hawaii". We just came out of our bomb cyclone power outage. Just now warming up, ha.
@@thefrugalcrafter Just in our little berg of Sammamish, we had 50 damaged homes and I don't know how many cars, all from giant trees falling/failing. I feel like people who remained safe are so incredibly lucky. We lost a huge 2-car-length tree branch, but it was one that we were getting ready to call a tree service to remove because it was rubbing on our roof. It didn't fall on anyone or anything, and we spared that expense! And all of our maple leaves disappeared so we didn't have to rake them! We feel like we came out ahead. But we have many people here still without power and so much devastation, so many downed trees. These once every 15 year storms are so awful.
Me: I'm finally getting my Honolulu B collection going! Ohuhu: pointing and laughing from a distance Seriously though, this is exciting but the completionist part of brain is not happy.
Thank you! She’s studying animation and illustration. She’s been animating since the 5th grade using stop motion and since the 7th grade she’s been doing digital animation and that’s about when she started her TH-cam channel. My husband graduated with a BFA from the UArts Film School in Philly, and I graduated from Montserrat College of Art in Beverly, MA with a BFA in Photography.
I am so excited about the honolulu plus/pro markers with the new copic like brush nib. My purchasing power has gone down so much that I can no longer support my copic use. If the price point of the new line of honolulus stays low and at least close to the current honolulus I will make a huge switch and swap my copics to honolulu plus. What I’m afraid of is that the new line is as expensive as copic ciaos are. But I’m holding on hope that finally an affordable and true copic challenger has arrived. 🤞
Ohuhu's surprise is nice ❤. Love the acrylic markers seem to be refillable. The popsockets are divine. I loved everything 🫶 ...by the way the markers are super varied 😮 those Honolulu ones with the white closing case what's the difference 🤔 although i think i see the brush tip smaller ^^
Glad i didnt buy any color set of ohuhu markers yet (i have their gray set only) will wait til these version of the markers become more mainstream and wait for a good sale ^^ in the meantime, will practice alcohol markers using an off brand set i got for real cheap, along with the ohuhu gray set i already have. Always good to see competitor brands improve. Hopefully they will stay as an affordable, good quality brand
I love ohuhu I still have my first set from a few years ago before they were well known. I’m just scared they are going to get up in price to where I won’t be able to afford them anymore!
I have been talking myself in and out of buying this brand for a while now. The new nib though. Yea I will be ordering when they are released. Well not unless I eventually end up on their radar. Either way, it’s a yes on the new nibs!😂😂 I haven’t purchased any markers seriously since the Sanjoki markers were released. TFS
@@thefrugalcrafter Ohhh Nooooo! No discipline. It was replaced with plenty of watercolor, gouache, pencils, and pastels. Seriously I need an intervention! 🤦🏽♂️🤣
@@thefrugalcrafter Me too. You have me super curious since they said over 400 colors, but only sets of 24 and 36 were mentioned. I am also looking forward to hearing your thoughts on these. That was really the only thing Copic had over Ohuhu. However, I will say even for felt tip nibs they are by far some of my favorite markers I have tried.
@@thefrugalcrafter Oh now that I didn't know. I have only seen these when you guys get them new. That is good to know and my mistake. With that said, I am really more interested in this years box though lol.
So. I'm literally waiting for my Ohuhu order which is out for delivery. I ordered the set of 104 Brush + fine tip that they released to finish up the set of 216 so you would have all the colors they offer. Plus their marker storage shelves. A standard and largw to be able to store the 320 colors I now own..................... 460 colors. New neoprene nibs. Replaceable nibs. And did I mention the 460 colors? Someone should have waited to place her order.🤣🤣🤣🤣
New colors?! New nibs?! 🎉 What are the chisels like on the Honolulu Plus markers? I got the chance to test a handful of what I think are the flexible chisels on the Honolulu S and they are awesome. Kinda wish I could combine the new brush and chisel and buy the new colors in that style >.> Anyway, thanks for the video!
You know personally I think I might have an idea as to why the refills haven't expanded yet. At least for me, I had gotten each set as they were released up until the 168 set of honolulu series B, and the pastel set. I only got the original skin tone set though I still even have my original ohuhu bullet tips from 2018 before they had a name. I have only had a couple markers run out of ink so far, and with multiple sets I also have several of certain colors. So maybe that is why a lot of people just don't have a need for refills yet???
@@thefrugalcrafter While I can't even suggest buying markers to my hubby anytime soon unless I get back to youtube and make money for them lol. I am sure many did the same thing. Plus then the popular youtubers that have been working with Ohuhu all these years have several sets as well. So I think that is why. They do have a surprising amount of ink in them, particularly if you make sure to store them horizontally.
Its been such a pleasure to watch ohuhu come from a very basic marker company to a really viable art supply company. Theyve improved because they listen and apply what people ask.
Yup!

It's always fun to find someone else who gets the new art supply excitement! 😄
This was so much fun! I was almost as excited as you to see what Ohuhu sent. Looking forward to seeing you experiment with the new markers.
I had a blast opening the box too! I can't wait to start using them too.
Cool gift; glad to hear the joy in your voice Lindsay! Now patiently waiting to see what you create with these markers. Thanks for the unboxing!🎉

The popsocket used on the pallette is a great hack. I'm going to have to remember that one!
And it's easier to hold than the wire thumb rings.
I've been waiting for an Ohuhu sale to finally take the plunge and get some alcohol markers and now I'm like ohohoho do I wait for this plus range? 👀😂

I haven't tried the pastels, let me know what you think of them if you get them, please!
wow!! Lucky you!!
No kidding! I am super lucky!
I didn't see the Ohuhu markers at my local Michaels. I wonder if I just missed them. I will have to visit my other local Michaels. These are exciting.
I think they are still being released! It was just a small side endcap at my store. It would be easy to miss if you weren't looking for it.
My mouse automatically went to the "like" button when you said "go to Hawaii". We just came out of our bomb cyclone power outage. Just now warming up, ha.
Oh no! I'm glad you are safe!
Ohuhu: pointing and laughing from a distance
Seriously though, this is exciting but the completionist part of brain is not happy.
I get that, but the b series is the only bullet/chisel combo, so I think it's a great one to get.
My daughter attends Maine College of Art and Design in Portland, Maine!
That's awesome! Portland is a great art city. Best of luck to her:)
Fingers crossed!
I am ready to go to Micheals.
Ohuhu's surprise is nice ❤. Love the acrylic markers seem to be refillable. The popsockets are divine. I loved everything 🫶
...by the way the markers are super varied 😮 those Honolulu ones with the white closing case what's the difference 🤔 although i think i see the brush tip smaller ^^
Glad i didnt buy any color set of ohuhu markers yet (i have their gray set only)
will wait til these version of the markers become more mainstream and wait for a good sale ^^
in the meantime, will practice alcohol markers using an off brand set i got for real cheap, along with the ohuhu gray set i already have.
Always good to see competitor brands improve. Hopefully they will stay as an affordable, good quality brand
I hope so!
I love ohuhu I still have my first set from a few years ago before they were well known. I’m just scared they are going to get up in price to where I won’t be able to afford them anymore!
Their prices have stayed fairly. There is too much competition to jack up prices.
Fun!
TFS
What discipline!
@@thefrugalcrafter Ohhh Nooooo! No discipline. It was replaced with plenty of watercolor, gouache, pencils, and pastels. Seriously I need an intervention! 🤦🏽♂️🤣
I need to save up some money, for the new ones.
I wonder how much they will be?
@@thefrugalcrafter Me too. You have me super curious since they said over 400 colors, but only sets of 24 and 36 were mentioned. I am also looking forward to hearing your thoughts on these. That was really the only thing Copic had over Ohuhu. However, I will say even for felt tip nibs they are by far some of my favorite markers I have tried.
Where can I buy this gift box?! This would be amazing for a Christmas gift!!! I'm so envious!!!
I wish you could buy those, but they send them out to youtubers that do sponsored videos and stuff.
@@melsgalleria Life is so unfair...
They do sell lastcyears gift box on their website. And I have a coupon code in the description you can use on it!
You have a very impressive collection!
New colors?! New nibs?! 🎉
What are the chisels like on the Honolulu Plus markers? I got the chance to test a handful of what I think are the flexible chisels on the Honolulu S and they are awesome. Kinda wish I could combine the new brush and chisel and buy the new colors in that style >.>
Anyway, thanks for the video!
They are normal chisels but I really want to try the flexible ones!
That's a really interesting theory! I bet you are right!
