    Hopefully this means there is an incoming Maschine software update that will finally unlock poly aftertouch and make use of the full expressive potential of the pads! (As well as making the new Keyboards actually work with NI's flagship host?)

  • @biggrime
    @biggrime ปีที่แล้ว +21

    NI always do amazing but why all these companies all of sudden act like After touch is new. Keyboards like the korg m3 had that in the 2000s

    • @federicobersano
      @federicobersano ปีที่แล้ว +4

      No, this is POLYPHONIC aftertouch. It's not new in itself but it is very, very rare to find in keyboards. Not a fan of how deep this new controller is though, and it's all to accomodate the screen. I'd rather have led indicators on the knobs and a smaller display.

    • @biggrime
      @biggrime ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @federicobersano4588 Yes, I meant POLYPHONIC after touch. True, it's not common for now. It's the buzz feature companies are boasting, so I'm sure the others will join the band wagon.

    • @ryanedwardmusic
      @ryanedwardmusic ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The Ensoniq keyboards in the 80s had polyphonic aftertouch. And of course the CS-80.

    • @federicobersano
      @federicobersano ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ryanedwardmusic Yes, or you could buy a Waldorf Iridium. The point is that it’s fair for N.I. to be excited about making this feature accessible to those who can’t afford one of those. I am still not buying one, but it’s good to have more options if you want poly pressure.

    As demos go this one left a LOT to be desired. No good examples of poly AT. Lightbar on the keyboard NOT shown while demonstrating direct Kontact integration, just the onscreen display. That is honestly one of the biggest deals in addition to the PolyAT keybed. Having the lightbar for Kontakt instrument mappings shown from within the DAW without having to use KK is fantastic. With all the CPU power supposedly onboard they need to move the arp, chord, and other keyboard capabilities onboard so you can easily use them with any synth including hardware.

    • @ReubenCornell
      @ReubenCornell ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I do show the keyboard lights working throughout many examples: Komplete Kontrol and Kontakt. They are particularly tricky to catch on camera from a zoomed-out overhead shot, but you can see them if you watch on a big enough screen. Try watching on your TV.

    • @klstay
      @klstay ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ReubenCornell OK, yeah the lights are harder to see than on the previous version. Question: what art the dimensions of the open spaces on the left and right sides? I am thinking the Maschine Mikro could go on one side and maybe the ERAE Touch on the other...

    UPDATE CS-80 V4 already available for download in ASC.
    Hopefully as that is V4 of Arturia CS-80 current owners of Arturia V Collection 9 probably won't have to upgrade to V Collection 10 (later this year possibly) unless they add some newer versions of some of their older synths (which is likely) or decide to rebrand all synths to a new version number which would be a cr*p move to do to owners.

  • @erickrincon7215

    Sanity check: With the new MK3 keyboards, Komplete Kontrol does not have to be running on the computer. Correct? If correct, does KK even need to be installed on your computer? Will your DAW (Logic in my case) automatically recognize the MK3 control surface?

    • @NativeInstruments
      @NativeInstruments  ปีที่แล้ว

      Kontrol S MK3 supports DAW Control regardless of what plug-in you have loaded.
      Additionally, it can connect directly to Kontakt, so you don't need Komplete Kontrol to use Kontakt instruments anymore. However, Komplete Kontrol is still needed to host VSTs.

    will this work with other controllers that have polyphonic aftertouch? Or did you lock it down for the KK MK3 Keyboards

    • @NativeInstruments
      @NativeInstruments  ปีที่แล้ว

      Any plug-in that supports Polyphonic Aftertouch, supports it regardless of what MIDI controller is being used. Of course, the MIDI controller has to be capable of sending the metadata to trigger the feature, but it is not locked to just Kontrol S MK3.

  • @furiobisotti8150

    Poly aftertouch is extremely appreciated. I would have liked a ribbon controller and 76 key version. I think I will go to buy an Hydrasynth Deluxe. It has everything as a midi controller, a huge synth hardware power and not so bigger cost...
    I am not using Komplete kontrol live because I need full automation with all VSTs I like, a host like GigPerformer gives me live performance with no limits.

    • @NativeInstruments

    So Kontakt is well integrated. Actually not that much of a surprise.
    What is about third party implementation without KK? DIY third party without official support?
    For me nearly all of the issues I had with the MKII hardware are solved, I am ready to buy.
    But I will wait for the first year to pass or until I am sure I see a good and open way for DIY integration.
    Never liked closed systems and will never do.

    Sorry to see this video.I can't find the point you call it Next Generation NKS on NI website。Actually NKS 2.0 came out in 5 or 6 years ago , everyone can google it. I just want to figure out what's different between Kontrol S MKII, and what's different between Komplete Kontrol 2.9.2? If NI told me the next gen nks just mean Kontrol S MK3 connect Kontakt 7.6 directly, I'll close my mouth.😅

    • @NativeInstruments
      @NativeInstruments  ปีที่แล้ว

      NKS is currently on version 1.7.
      NKS2 is coming out later this year, as shown above, as part of the Kontrol S MK3 launch. It includes:
      - Richer parameter metadata (relevant iconography such as waveforms, toggles, etc)
      - More flexible navigation (powerful and complex products have organized parameter groups, accessible via the buttons at the top of the screen, so far less endless page scrolling).

      And imagine how much greater it'll be when they add NKS2 compatibility!!

    Too many abandoned products with slow release/update schedules for me to continue to invest in NI. Still major bugs and missing features in maschine, no updates to Reaktor in half a decade. They simply dont do a good job of sticking with a product once its been released. Too bad bc they used to be my all time favorite leading the industry in innovation. Not anymore.
