Congratulations Gordon. What a fantastic job you have done. You have really helped me out over the years. I hope I bump into you in Brighton one day to shake your hand.
Congrats on 18yrs & 600 videos. I found you only a few yrs ago and I love your content. I also love your other channels and I appreciate the time and effort you put into them. Thank you so much for the professionalism and kindness over the years. We love you Gordon.
Congrats Gordon, appreciate your content and point of view a lot. To the next 600 videos 🥂 What else you might do? Keep up with the reviews but maybe you could show some BT’s stuff. Or organize guided foto trips, long term reviews ( which can be tricky, I know) or some more comparison videos or purchase guides based on your experience.
That was fun - a couple in there I kinda forgot about. Congrats on the 18! (you should definitely start a membership - I do it on my cycling channel with some bonus videos and a discount on merch but most people just join to have another way to offer support)
Hi Gordon. It was really interesting to hear about your journey with camera reviews on TH-cam. You should know that you have helped me several times in making decisions about buying cameras, including Oly E400 and Lumix L1. (I love the old Four Thirds system). Congratulations and greetings from Denmark
What is your "daughter" (camera) that you most regret "marrying" (selling)? Also, you come across as a cool level headed guy, but that was any "friend" (camera) that got into a fight (failed you at a travel or job) and cut relations (never want to use again)?
Happy 18th, Gordon! Thanks for so many years of comprehensive and informative videos. Been watching since your Olympus DSLR reviews (which helped me choose the E510 back in the day).
You are one of the reasons i got my 40D, simple but great reviews and great info, thanks to having the right equipment for the job, i got paid work even if it was only to pay for part of my hobby, i thank you for that. well done on 18 years, i have been watching from the first vid.
I started my digital photography with a Nikon Coolpix 775 before I knew of any camera reviews. Somewhat unsatisfactory with that camera, I came across and started to follow Phil and then Gordon. Those were the fun days when progress seemed more rapid in both image quality and usability. And guess what, I’ve been designing digital cameras (not consumer models) for a living for 9 years now, and my daily camera is a phone with a decent 12-240 mm coverage. Happy 18th birthday and long live camera reviews.
Been watching since I had my first DSLR in 2006 - a Canon 400D. Loved DSLR Tips as that gave me a great start to learning how best to use my camera - tbh I think you should do more / update them. Loved your New Zealand shots as I lived in Singapore at the time so could visit a few times. Now your travel series / vintage camera reviews are a must watch. Please keep doing what you do and congratulations on t reaching this milestone.
great lore for your journey. and don't sweat about your videos. unless you're reviewing a smartphone, camera stuff isn't the most demanding in the algorhythms. us camera nerds enjoy any and all camera discussions. if I could suggest anything, I would challenge you to do some software coding. I feel like now would be the time to try and make videos discussing modifying the in-camera software since there's so much potential from the current hardwares. maybe for your favorite camera.
Thanks Gordon, for this and all your reviews. You are the most professional and comprehensive photography gear reviewer on TH-cam. I have read your website and watched your videos for many years. I liked those long videos with Gordon Kaye, I always wondered why they stopped. Please keep going. All the very best to you.
Happy Birthday, been watching you for quite some years 5+, love your book, great photos, tips and inspiration. Not sure how you can compete with newer vloggers many of whom are really poor, it’s all about them…apparently! I truly value your unbiased views on new kit, so many vloggers now seem to be just pushing freebies they’ve been sent, regardless of quality ☹️
Thanks, yes, there are a lot of influencers out there, as well as people who may only be familiar with a limited number of brands or products. I bring you 32 years of experience!
Thanks for all the help over all these years, Gordon. I can't be certain, but have little doubt you helped me with my first big purchase of an Olympus e510 back in 2007... and at every step since. All the best for the next 18 years from Queensland, Australia.
Great job Gordon! You’ve done yourself proud and served the community well. Thanks! How about shooting some film on a 645? I used to shoot one and develop my own film.
Thank you for all your camera reviews. You are one of the best you tube host there is. I have bought your book, and learned a lot about what to buy and what not. Keep going. Blessings from Denmark. ❤❤❤
CONGRATULATIONS, Gordon! I have been subscribed to you since around 2010-2011 and have learned a lot from you and your very helpful videos. I "jumped" back into photography in 2010 after about a 40-year hiatus from the hobby. I started again with the Canon 40D, and have been a Canon person ever since. I added the 80D when it came out, and then picked up a 5D, and I love all 3 of these cameras. I have watched untold numbers of your lens reviews as well as many camera reviews and have always learned something new from your presentations. Thank you for all you've done, and continue to do, but I'm afraid I'm a "dyed-in-the-wool" dSLR lover, and unable to embrace the mirrorless technology. Thanks for everything over the years. and keep up the great work!
Congratulations Gordon. Thank you for all your reviews. Great to see a compilation video. I remember buying my Nikon D90 after watching your review of that camera.
I was fascinated back in the day with your Nikon D90 review. It really was the camera to have back then. I would wander by my local camera shop and see the D90 sitting there on the shelf looking every inch the sleek newcomer while I was shooting with the D3000 (not a camera that was received well, but was all I could afford). There have been many more of your reviews that I remember, but the D90 review, watched while I saved and saved and...saved, is one I remember vividly. Thank you for your clear explanations of camera innovations over the years.
You were (and still is) the only one who point out specific details in reviews what no one discovers. For example I remember back then in the Olympus E-510 review you tested what happens when you pair the IBIS with a Panasonic lens optical stabilisation (and the two systems fought each other resulting and even shakier image). Nobody mentioned this back then and that was the point when I subscribed. Thank you for still making these kind of unbiased and professional reviews. Happy Birthday!
Happy 18th birthday Gordon. I remember watching your review of the panasonic fz28 in 2009 from new Zealand. I subsequently bought one and still enjoy using it today. So thank you for your reviews and best wishes for the future.
Thanks Gordon..and congrats! Always enjoy your videos, well thought through and fair! Wishing you continued success! Btw..also enjoy your written work on your website site! Looking forward to some updates of your recommended camera choices there too! My only sad comment…it’s unfortunate that a TH-cam algorithm doesn’t always align with what a content creator actually wants to do (like your podcasts).
So, 600 vids in 18 years is like 33 vids per year. Pretty lazy, pretty lazy... Kidding ofc 😁 Happy birthday and keep going. I find your channel useful.👍
You're right, an average of 33 per year, which works out about 10 days per review. Do the same sum for channels posting more frequently and ask yourself if they've done enough testing for you!
Congratulations, Gordon. You're one of the most professional TH-camrs here, a true OG. Your videos are always a pleasure to watch, and I especially appreciate how you engage with your community. Here's to 18 more! 🍾
Gordon. I have watched your reviews and followed your advice in the comment sections when buying cameras. I have been satisfied with all the 8 purchases I made. Please continue blessing the community with the passion and excellence in your work and thank you very much for doing them over the years.
I started watching you with the Olympus E-420, a camera I purchased just after. I was so amazed how you could do these videos in 1 take. It was amazing, even today. You have such a great talent! I loved the podcast with Doug, although I only watched on TH-cam. What ever happened to the girl in many of your videos?
I started watching your videos around 2007, I wonder if there is a way to see when someone subscribed to your channel. I don’t think I missed a single video from these 600.
Excellent video walking down the memory lane. Was definitely an original fan from the early days! Bought the Sony N2 and Nikon D90 thanks to your review!
Cheers Gordon, this is Sean in Atlanta! I have happily followed you for many, many years and I want to offer you a big congratulations on such an enormous milestone! The algorithm be damned, your videos are awesome! Thanks for so many great reviews that have helped me spend all of my money on cameras and lenses, which I have thoroughly enjoyed! Have a smashing day and again congratulations! Sean
I keep remembering and chuckling at one moment in your Florida vid in the swamps. "It's and alligator, it's a log, I'm sure I've seen it blink" ;) To your point about compact camera segment being neglected. I'd think mobile phones would compete for this segment. It'd be cool to see some reviews of smartphone cameras. I'm no photographer myself but I do take pics with my mobile, I've just got Pixel 8a which is supposed to be a decent shooter. Anyways, congrats and take care.
Glad you remember the aligator bit! That was in my 500mm lens review, I remember going over it this week! Nice to finally do something with that launch footage too!
Congrats Gordon! You've been my review source since my first camera with the Canon 50D. If I knew your book had a full page copies of your photos I would have bought it a while ago. I'm looking forward to going through it. :)
I started my digital camera journey on the Canon 400D and watched your video when it came out! I also visited your forum over the years when I needed help. What a wonderful time.
Thanks for all the work and information you have provided! Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing drone reviews done by you, since I'm starting to get interested in that field as well.
One of if not the best channels for factual and great reviews! Love the vintage channel too! Glad you are here Gordan and thanks for sharing your passion and insight! Happy 18th!
You know Gordon my first personal camera was a 400D and it was the first camera I researched. I had the silver one too. So you were basically one of the first reviewers i came inti contact with. Now, over a decade later, I can attest to the fact that here's nobody like you when it comes to concisely packed, objectively observed and keenly detailed videos. You're in a class of your own and we all know it. Thank you for making amazing content over the years and paying attention to the things not mant cover but are deeply interesting, like DinoBytes! You rock! Big hug from Costa Rica :)
Greetings Gordon and congrats! I and my father who was a photographer back in the 1990s and 2000s, love watching your videos. Your videos are one of the inspirations for me to do photography. As always, thank you a lot, Gordon. I love the aesthetic and effort you put into your videos. Happy 18 years of Cameralabs!
It's been some ride, I didnt even realise how early on i was! The times on the forums back in 2007-2010 - when i went to uni and had to sell most of my camera gear :( - were really good! Learned a lot. Thanks as always for the content!
Great job Gordon! You’ve done yourself proud and served the community well. Thanks! How about shooting some film on a 645? I used to shoot one and develop my own film.
Congratulations 🎉❤ In 2010 i switched from my Canon 450D to D300s + 16-85 VR & 70-200 VR after watching your reviews.Since then im watching & reading your written reviews too. I also like your other channel about old cameras. I wish you did Nikon reviews too like you used to.
@@cameralabs Sorry , had a typo since I was writing it from a moving car. I corrected it. I was telling I wish you made Nikon reviews too since you are one of those few who make genuine, unbiased reviews.Coz sometimes we don't get enough time to go through the written reviews.Your reliability is your USB.So personally, i would love to watch more reviews from you regardless of any brand. But since I'm mostly a Nikon shooter, i would like to watch more Nikon contents. And a weekly podcast from you too would be nice as well.
Wow! 18 years? Congratulation! I have been watching since 2008! I always wanted to know why you chose the white background instead of the beautiful landscapes in NZ 😅 the more you know 😂
@@cameralabs i think it was as you said: “ah, that is what reviewers do” 😅 on the other hand, a clean background helped me focus on what you said rather than being distracted. So not all bad!

Thankyou!
Congrats Gordon and thanks for the memories 🙂
Glad you enjoyed it!
Congratulations Gordon. What a fantastic job you have done. You have really helped me out over the years. I hope I bump into you in Brighton one day to shake your hand.
That is something I have also wanted to do. Be a real pleasure to do both.
It could happen!
Congrats Gordon!
Always wishing you and team the best! Thank you for all the awesome videos!

Cheers!
Thankyou!

Congratulations on your 18th YT Birthday, 600th Video, and consistently excellent reviews, Gordon.
Thankyou!
Been watching so long don't even remember when I started. It's all been great, I'll stay subbed for sure. 👍🙏
Thanks for watching!
Congrats on 18yrs & 600 videos. I found you only a few yrs ago and I love your content. I also love your other channels and I appreciate the time and effort you put into them. Thank you so much for the professionalism and kindness over the years. We love you Gordon.
Thanks, much appreciated! Glad you watch my other channels too!
I'll undoubtedly still be watching your videos in another 18 years God permitting 😋
Thanks!
Congrats Gordon, appreciate your content and point of view a lot. To the next 600 videos 🥂
What else you might do? Keep up with the reviews but maybe you could show some BT’s stuff. Or organize guided foto trips, long term reviews ( which can be tricky, I know) or some more comparison videos or purchase guides based on your experience.
Thanks for the suggestions!
That was fun - a couple in there I kinda forgot about.
Congrats on the 18!
(you should definitely start a membership - I do it on my cycling channel with some bonus videos and a discount on merch but most people just join to have another way to offer support)

Wow!!!! Congratulations!!!! I started watching your videos back in 2010 when i got my 7dmki.
A classic camera!

My only sad comment…it’s unfortunate that a TH-cam algorithm doesn’t always align with what a content creator actually wants to do (like your podcasts).
Thanks, and yes I need to update the guides
Love your videos! I've been whatching you since 2008.
Thanks!
I had the Canon 40d, image quality is so much better now
I'm still fond of the 40D!
Thanks, I always try to reply to all messages. I notice some channels do not engage
Gordon. I have watched your reviews and followed your advice in the comment sections when buying cameras. I have been satisfied with all the 8 purchases I made. Please continue blessing the community with the passion and excellence in your work and thank you very much for doing them over the years.
You're very welcome, glad I've been of use!
Depends which girl you mean! The one I pull-focus onto in the 5D II demo? Maybe Mrs Cameralabs!
Dinobytes is my absolute favourite TH-cam channel
That's great to hear! Lots more to come over there!
I started watching your videos around 2007, I wonder if there is a way to see when someone subscribed to your channel. I don’t think I missed a single video from these 600.
Thankyou and bonus points for watching so many!
Excellent video walking down the memory lane. Was definitely an original fan from the early days! Bought the Sony N2 and Nikon D90 thanks to your review!
Do you still use either?
Cheers Gordon, this is Sean in Atlanta! I have happily followed you for many, many years and I want to offer you a big congratulations on such an enormous milestone! The algorithm be damned, your videos are awesome!
Thanks for so many great reviews that have helped me spend all of my money on cameras and lenses, which I have thoroughly enjoyed! Have a smashing day and again congratulations!
Sean
Thankyou Sean, glad you've enjoyed them for so long!
I keep remembering and chuckling at one moment in your Florida vid in the swamps. "It's and alligator, it's a log, I'm sure I've seen it blink" ;)
To your point about compact camera segment being neglected.
I hope you enjoy it!
I started my digital camera journey on the Canon 400D and watched your video when it came out! I also visited your forum over the years when I needed help. What a wonderful time.
Hah, my first video! Glad you saw it and enjoyed the forum!
Thanks for all the work and information you have provided! Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing drone reviews done by you, since I'm starting to get interested in that field as well.
Cheers!
One of if not the best channels for factual and great reviews! Love the vintage channel too! Glad you are here Gordan and thanks for sharing your passion and insight! Happy 18th!
Thankyou!
Thankyou very much! PS - I visited Costa Rica in the 90s and loved it. Must go back sometime!
Glad to help!
Wow! Great achievement Gordon. So well deserved reputation and respect! Congrats and see you at your next video
Thanks!
Thank you for all the great work. 😊
You're welcome!
It's been some ride, I didnt even realise how early on i was! The times on the forums back in 2007-2010 - when i went to uni and had to sell most of my camera gear :( - were really good! Learned a lot. Thanks as always for the content!
You're very welcome, and I remember you well from the forum!
Happy Birthday, Gordon! You don’t look a day over New Zealand. And congrats on 600 episodes!
Thankyou! A bit more wrinkly to be sure, but maybe that's 4k vs standard def!
I'm really surprised you didn't mention your D700 video
It was a nice camera but not a landmark moment. Plus nikon already got two mentions!
You have aged like fine wine. Congrats, Gordon. Here's to 18 more. xoxo
Corked perhaps, but still drinkable!
Yeah Gordon, thanks for all the font memories. You really helped me choose and get along in the camera world.
You're very welcome!
Great job Gordon! You’ve done yourself proud and served the community well. Thanks! How about shooting some film on a 645? I used to shoot one and develop my own film.
Thanks! I used to own a Mamiya 7 II for several years, which shot 6x7cm, but it was so expensive!
I always enjoy looking at your reviews. But now that I see those old videos again, how come you seemingly never grew older?
Hah! Because I started out looking 50!
Congratulations! You helped me to get into cameras and photography 15 years ago.
You're welcome!
My first DSLR was. Canon 400D. Was that 18 years ago? How camera time flies!
Yes I'm afraid to be the bearer of bad news!
Cheers Gordon - to you, the nonpareil of Camera TH-cam 🍻
Thankyou, that's very kind and much appreciated!
Congrats Gordan! Amazing history
Thanks! Yes, it was a fun recap!
Great channel. Thanks and congratulations
Thankyou!
Love your work Gordon, the original is the best 🥂
Thankyou!
🎂🍰🥂💖🌠
🎉
Congratulations
Thanks!
Congrats mate!
Cheers!
Congratulations my dear brother
Thanks!
happy birthday, Gordon, and here's to 18 more!
Another 18! Crumbs!
Congrats on 18 years, Gordon! Here’s to many more! 🎉
Thanks!
Congrats on 18 years of quality content! :)
Thanks for all your support!
congratulations, it's a lot of excellent work!
Thanks!
Congratulations Gordon, keep on going :)
Cheers, I'll try!
Hell yeah Gordon! The longest running camera channel pioneer.
Cheers!
I miss Doug! You two should make a reunion video.
I miss him too!
Congrats! Have a proper brew!
Cheers, I shall!
You sold me a Nikon D90. HBD!!!
Hah, hope you liked it!
Thanks for watching for so long! What reviews are you talking about me making again?
@@cameralabs Sorry , had a typo since I was writing it from a moving car. I corrected it. I was telling I wish you made Nikon reviews too since you are one of those few who make genuine, unbiased reviews.Coz sometimes we don't get enough time to go through the written reviews.Your reliability is your USB.So personally, i would love to watch more reviews from you regardless of any brand. But since I'm mostly a Nikon shooter, i would like to watch more Nikon contents. And a weekly podcast from you too would be nice as well.
The Legend! I was there on day one, or close 😅
Bonus points!
No, thanks to you Gordon!
Cheers!
I was looking into the Nikon D7000 around 2011 and your video was the one that convinced me to buy it. Been subscribed ever since.
Thanks, hope you enjoyed it!
@@cameralabs I did. For 10 years. In fact, I bought my next camera, a D750, on the exact day 10 years after I bought the D7000.
congrats man
Thanks!
Congratulations Gordon, I always buy second hand cameras and your channel is always my first step in choosing one.
Thanks, hope you've checked out Dinobytes too!
@@cameralabs of course!
Well done
Thanks!
I miss your videos with Doug. I wish both of you well .
Thanks, I should do some more with him sometime...
@@cameralabs would love to see you guys back together.
Wow! 18 years? Congratulation! I have been watching since 2008! I always wanted to know why you chose the white background instead of the beautiful landscapes in NZ 😅 the more you know 😂
I wish someone had told me to just get out!
@@cameralabs i think it was as you said: “ah, that is what reviewers do” 😅 on the other hand, a clean background helped me focus on what you said rather than being distracted. So not all bad!
@@FabienMathey nice positive spin, I like that!
601 video 🤭😂👏👍🤗
Ahem, yes, you're right! That cheeky Leica short tipped me over a day early!
