Having spoken to many Battle of Britain pilots over the years, it seems he wasn't the easiest person to serve under, especially if from the lower ranks. Still, he was a remarkable character.
Definitely go for the Exeter based option. I love the hurricane but the airfix Mark I and Revell Mark II are good enough to prevent me from spending extra and going elsewhere
Right away i can tell you that Hasegawa Hurricanes are not the best shape. The canopy is thinner than it should be as it is a case with a whole fuselage… Nevertheless it looks cute at the end of the day and is a delight to construct, so i will take Hasegawa Hurries all the time!😎
Nice! Yes, after I made this video it was pointed out to me that there is some slightly strange shaping, particularly around the cockpit - i didn't notice it at the time but when compared to other hurricanes from revell/airfix it does become more noticeable

Last year a mate of mine asked me to build him a 303sqn Hurricane. I was hoping he would present me the Arma or Airfix kit but he produced this one so that's what I built. It builds up ok and looks really nice when it's finished. Care must be taken with the nose inserts to get everything squared up right. It's great that Hobby 2000 is re-boxing these older kits with updated Cartograf decals and masks; however, those thick black Montex style Vinyl masks are terrible and don't stick or conform to the surface very well. I wish they'd include Kabuki masks like Eduard etc.
I spoke to airfix about this when I was at the creator event, and their argument (which might not be the same for all companies) is that it is down to cost. Creating pilots can be time consuming and not all figures fit inside all kits - the cockpits are different shapes and sizes and whilst a human can bend themselves to fit, a generic moulded figure can't. Creating a specific figure for each kit can massively push the price up because a figure can be really complex to sculpt. Airfix does still include figures in many of their aircraft kits, but they are generic and don't always fit properly
I f I'm not mistaken, the wing ports are already on the model wing undersides and need to be filled, not drilled out. The Icon associated with it also hints at this.
I’m a new modeler on accident. because when I was 11 I saw a plane I liked on Amazon so I bought it thinking it would be assembled so when I got it I just left it on my desk until I was up to it and I eventually just used hot glue and it ended pretty badly prob because I was 11 it was a P-51 mustang The Berlin express I’m decent at building now but not that good at it. Anyways love your videos😊
Just looked up the squadron codes.. LE was 242 squadron flying the I, and the IIB from Feb 41, JX was No 1 squadron (1937-43 so probably all types), LK was 87 squadron (also others but they didn't fly the Hurricane) flying the I up to 1942 and the IIC from 1941 so there was some crossover, and AA was 134 squadron flying the IIB. Given there seems to be a lack of flying option (weird in an AIRcraft and the instructions have no options) they should have known modellers would want an open canopy, so include a pilot and /some/ attempt at cockpit detail. It looks like there is a decal for an instrument panel so /someone/ foresaw the canopy being open.
I enjoyed this very much, my first model unboxing video and once again I have picked up some good stuff so thank you for that. On the price I think it’s stupid high however I seem to have memory’s stuck back when I was a child (63 now) so as you all appear to accept the prices I guess I need to ‘man’ up!😅 Bob England
Nah, the price is high really, the Airfix version is about half the price of this and the only real difference is that it doesn’t come with that masking sheet
If not already mentioned, the wing needs the panel lines for the extra Brownings filling in, and the engine cowling is for the MkII and later with that oil slinger ring. The reverse curve under the nose is also a MkII, and later feature.
may be a bit expensive but in all honesty its probably about right price due to everything increasing in price in uk the kit looks nice and the added masking templates are a proper bonus that we should see more of but probably wont nice unboxing and review pal 👍
Hasegawa made a significant error when they tooled up their 1/72 Hurricane kits although it doesn’t affect the Mk.I kits, just the Mk.IIs. The Hurricane Mk.II and Mk.IV are 4.5 inches longer than the Mk.I to accommodate the Merlin XX with the two speed supercharger. This extra length is all in the panels directly ahead of the windscreen and aft of the exhausts. However, Hasegawa provides identical fuselage pieces for their 1/72 Mk. I and Mk.II Hurricane kits and the difference in length was achieved by making the forward cowl piece longer instead. This mistake affects the shape of the wing root leading edge fairing where it intersects the fuselage and cowling. Thus Hasegawa’s Hurricane Mk.II kits look a little off. There’s also an issue with the accuracy of the Mk.II spinner. Fortunately, when Hasegawa tooled up their 1/48 Hurricanes they did not make this mistake. The other issue with the 1/72 kits is the main wheel well. On the real aircraft this is a rectangular box type structure but the walls of the Hasegawa kit wheel wells follow the contours of the opening. The Airfix and Arma Hobby kits are far more accurate in this area and have better detailed cockpits too. The rear fuselage fabric effect on the Hasegawa kit is far too pronounced but this is fairly easy to deal with using Mr Surfacer and then sanding back until the peaks show through. Repeat a few times until happy with the effect but bear in mind that photos of real aircraft show the fabric to be pulled quite taut between the longitudinal stringers. All that said, it’s an easy build and the masks in this boxing will make life much easier in terms of painting the wheels and canopy.

Hello, It is more an mk1 than an mk2 because it has parts D1 and D2 for the nose, the kit of the mk2 from Hasegawa has parts E2 and E5, now all kits of the mk1 from Hasegawa must have the ejection doors of ammunition plugged. This kit sold by Hobby 2000 is still a paradox, knowing that Hobby 200 is a branch of Arma Hobby, which produces a superb Hurricane mk1 for the price of this kit, which is not bad but a notch below the most modern kits. Okey, now that i have watched your video, first of all, i must say: well done as always… good presentation of the kit! I have seen a discussion about how Arma hobby has better Hurricanes than Hasegawa and Airfix, bla bla… Yes, they are superior to anything on the current market and yes, the Eduard boxing is much better and cheeper than Hobby 2000 (Hasegawa rebox), but, i must point out some areas in which Hasegawa beats Arma Hobby Hurricanes: First of all, the cockpit detail is hardly seen because of the cockpit and fuselage shape in this case if opened, if closed YOU CAN’T SEE A THING😅… Since Hasegawa has given closed canopy as the only option, the cockpit detail is appropriate…. Second thing, Hasegawa kit is much simpler and less parts so it’s ideal for some quick build. Another advantage is that it is far easier to build then Arma mk.1 (first versions had some fitting issues)…. At the end of the day, Hobby2000 price is high but if you wanna army build Hurries, Hasegawa is the best choise! Not the newest, not the best, but nice enough, looks like a Hurricane and is a delight to build! In hands of skilled hobbyist this kit can turn out great!
Good review as usual. Does seem a little bit expensive. I had their He-111 and that was only £28 for a much more detailed and larger kit with mask set and different decals. Not sure that the different decal sheet and mask set is enough for that Hurricane given it is quite simple even allowing for recent kit price rises.
As a Gleed. I would have this for my namesakes version. but the whole thing. from an experienced perspective is incredibly simplistic. and not worth the price tag. I can only assume that the masks bump up the price. as a seperate item they are usually quite dear in my opinion. and the extra decals in order to create the different versions.

It's not really worth the money - when I recorded this video I had not built the model. Whilst it does have some good features, during the build I discovered some issues with it
Finally realistic very fine panel lines, not these usual broad "ditches". I noticed only two small faults, that can be corrected with little effort. First: the landing gear wells are too shallow. On such an expensive kit I would have expected a better solution, which would have been relatively easy to accomplish. Second: the fabric surfaces are too pronounced. On the real aircraft the fabric did not look like a wet sack, in fact the surfaces had a tight fit with a smooth surface. Finally I wish that metal landing gears would become standard on such kits...
No real special names, just beginners I suppose. Sprue is the plastic frame that the parts come on and need cutting away from. Flash is extra plastic on the parts that is left over from the moulding process and shouldn’t be there, usually comes from a worn tooling where the plastic has eroded it a bit of excess use, or the two parts of the mould aren’t clamped tight enough and the plastic seeps between them
Like already mentioned, the Arma Hobby Hurricane ml I is a far better kit. There's an Eduard re-box, with canopy masks and two frets of photo etch, price max 17€ or less.

i had an issue with the microphone during recording and tried to fix it in post production, but it's not really my area of expertise and i tried my best to fix it (even looking up stuff on google and following tutorials), but it still isn't 100% right. Don't worry, audio quality will be improved on upcoming videos

I found that the masks were ok on the canopy, but I never used the ones on the wheels and chose to paint that by hand instead
Generally it seems manufacturers don't make models with pilot/crew figures anymore? Guess they see it as too toy-like?

Yeah, I wrote the correction on the screen during the edit. During recording the symbol looked like it was a drill rather than a “fill “

yeah, i thought those panels would need filling in - i didn't bother to do it during my construction of the kit but will mention it in the build video

So all in all, a good kit, but very expensive ! As I wrote earlier, I purchased a tank from Hobby 2000, for around £25, 1/35 scale. It was a steal !

It's not the bees knees - the Arma Hobby kit knocks it for 6 and then another 6 and so on....

i had an issue with the microphone during recording and tried to fix it in post production, but it's not really my area of expertise and i tried my best to fix it (even looking up stuff on google and following tutorials), but it still isn't 100% right. Don't worry, audio quality will be improved on upcoming videos
Never was a fan of reboxed kits flying under some obscure manufacturer. No hobby2000 kits for me.

@@ModelMinutes It`s just a scam to fool newcomers to the hobby into buying. The kit itself is probably worth £10 topps, probably less. BUT the old Hasegawa kit still holds its own.
