    Awesome tutorial fixed my phone. I didn't have the double sided tape so I used 3m platic emblem and trim adhesive glue. Bought it from autozone and used it to to re-badge my truck and that stuff is strong because it resisted 90mph+ winds, extreme heat, and cold so I used a little on the top and the bottom without blocking critical components and it works great. If you do use this glue make sure to use a little to minimize squeezing it to other places.

    I am working on replacing the screen on my mom's G3. Especially grateful for posting the link to etrade supply. I was having trouble finding an exact replacement screen with the LG and verizon logo. It looks like you do really high quality work. Thanks for posting.

    Thanks, dude! My deductible was $150 for a replacement & a cell repair shop wanted $175. I bought a new screen for $50 and with your help, I have a nice working phone again : )

    Your breakdown of the steps was amazing. I bought a digitizer and lcd display and could not get them to work. After seeing the simple process at 11:55 I now have a working phone again. Thank you so much

    Very helpful video! Just successfully replaced the screen on my g3, appears to be fully functioning thus far.
    One thing I wanted to comment on for people attempting this:
    Replacement screens often come with non-OEM parts, and in particular I've heard of a lot of people claim their replacement screens had thinner/more fragile glass. Not sure whether or not my replacement glass was thinner than the original, but either way, when I tried to insert the speaker grate into the new glass, I pressed too hard and broke the glass locally. In that area it's both not supported by the LCD and has a really thin length between the hole and the edge, and it's easy to crack.
    Not a big deal, since there's no digitizer/LCD there, and even with mine broken it has no effect on the phone's functionality, but figured I'd mention it in hopes it'd let other people know to be cautious there!

    I just wanted to say a massive thank you for the videos and to make a couple of comments:
    1) Great instructions, clear video and audio, so helpful, thank you.
    2) I wish I'd known before the start of the video that I didn't have to completely disassemble the thing to replace the screen, but I should have watched the whole thing first before attempting I guess
    3) Do you have problems with the new digitiser not staying glued to the mid frame. I've just finished the repair, left the house, and noticed I can see the backlight through cracks around the edge between the two parts. I plan to go home and re-do them but not sure where I went wrong?

    Only critique is it'd be good for people who do it as they watch, if in part 1 you make it clearer that you don't need to take off all the pieces. Thanks for the video again!

    My advise to anyone who disassembles and reassembles something like this is buy a few descent tweezers and pry tools.

    This is great. I had a company replace my broken screen but, it looks like they are using some kind of adhesive that's not double sided tape. My screen is peeling off. Your video was very helpful to fix this myself which, is what I wanted to do in the first place. Thanks for the video

    Hi,
    I've watched the dis-assembly and this re-assembly video of yours and found them both massively helpful and informative, as my screen has come adrift on my LG G3 and these videos have shown me that it's not new screen time and it can be fixed back in!
    However, the tape you're using for re-assembly, I wont need these huge rolls, where would I buy smaller lengths from....I dare say i'll only need a meter of each if that.
    Thanks :)

    Thanks for posting this video, it helped me a lot to disamble my phone! I'm having some issues to stick the new display module back into the phone using the 3M double sided tape. Do you think that it would make sense to place 2 tapes (one over another) or might it make the screen to stand beyond the frame?

    Thanks for the great video. I did everything as explained and it all works fine. It worked extremely well for about 18hrs after installation, but all of a sudden the touch screen stopped responding. I was curious and decided to open it again. I opened it up again and found out that if I didn`t tightened the four bottom screws, the touch screen will work fine, but the moment I tends to tightened them again and put the back case in place, the screen stops responding. Please how can you help on this. Any Clue?

    My LG G3 screen just got a crack in the middle of the screen. The bottom part (below the crack) is working. The top part isn't. What should I replace? The glass or the whole touch screen? In this video you're replacing only the glass, right?

    • @BlueJeebs
      @BlueJeebs 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Whole screen. Replacing the glass is a very difficult process (I was actually retarded and tried replacing glass first on my gf's iphone...failed along with the screen). Believe me when I say that $25 saved isn't worth the hassle.

      +Donny Irwin I have used a couple different methods, a little bit of super glue under the corner (flattened out and slid under on a playing card) ]or silicone based glue and using a small clamp to hold the display in place. I only use this when the tape I have is poor quality but works ok.

  • @mentaldavethefirst
    @mentaldavethefirst 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've managed to change my screen and digitizer [relatively] successfully. Only problem now is that there is no sound unless using headphones.
    When taking the pieces out like camera and headphone jack etc the bit that goes by the ear piece open into two halves. Does that mean it is broken or is it just a connection issue with the gold plates? They are definitely point to the right and towards the piece I had to pull out after removing the ribbon.

    So i dropped my phone and the screen still has all the images, the glass is cracked, but the touch wont work. Actually can still touch the bottom where the back/home/window buttons are but no where else. Sometimes the screen registers touched when i am not touching the phone. What do I need to fix? could it just be a loose connection?

    • @lionellinesfan
      @lionellinesfan 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** if the glass is cracked, you probably need a new display/digitizer glass assembly, the touch screen portion is fused to the glass, and when the glass breaks, it can damage the digitizer/touch portion as well. if the screen is acting up or touching places you never touched, that is also another sign of a bad digitizer. installing a new display/digitizer/glass assembly will make the phone work properly again.

      +RUS small amounts of super glue can help. put it on a playing card and slip it just 1mm or so under the side of the screen.

      You can get interference from out side sources. could cause drops in signal and issues with touch/screen response.

    What do i need to replace if I only have hairline crack on my Lg G3 screen verizon?

    • @How2Tech
      @How2Tech  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** You would have to replace the whole screen assembly unless you know how to do a glass only replacement.

      ***** Does anyone know how to do or done a successfull glass only replacement?

    • @TorqueTheRich
      @TorqueTheRich 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** Yes. First, you have to take out the digitzer/lcd assembly. Heat up the glass around the edges. Use Molybdenum .1mm diameter wire to slide through the glue. If you don't want to buy the wire or wait for delivery, you can use ordinary playing cards to gently slide between the glass digitizer and the LCD. Once the glass is off, clean the residue off the LCD with rubbing alcohol and a soft cloth (so as not to scratch the LCD). Once the LCD's completely clean and smudge-free, use about 1.5 ml of Ultraviolet (UV) glue making a straight line down the middle and then 2 "V" shapes angling towards the corners. Set the new glass from the top of the phone and let it down very slowly so no bubbles form (if they do form, just lift the screen and pop them with a toothpick). Press around the screen gently to fill in any areas where the glue hasn't made it to. Then, you have to use a black lamp UV light to cure the glue. I did it for 15 minutes, although some video instructions say 3 minutes. Better safe than sorry is my motto so I went 15 minutes. Clean off any drippy residue outside the phone with rubbing alcohol and you're done. Then you have to reapply double-sided sticky tape around the edges of the mid-frame to seat the LCD assembly again. Sounds more involved than it really is. Takes about 1/2 hour when you have all the materials/tools in front of you.

      ***** Oh,and another thing....use tape over the cracks in the glass so it won't leave small pieces stuck to the LCD. Scratches are the LCD's enemy along with too much heat (which can cause permanent dark spots to show when illuminated). A blow dryer works just fine. Just enough to get the glue soft. The playing cards or wire will slide right through it after just a little bit of heat. You may have to reapply heat a couple of times. There are videos on TH-cam about LG G3 glass replacement.
